My friend, winning consistently is the answer. Winning cures all. The math doesn't make sense if you spend $500K+ to spread the word for one football game. That's madness. Single game promotions (what you're describing) are done by the TV networks to generate buzz and increase viewership so they can in-turn generate more ad sales revenue during the game. Universities don't promote single-games for a reason and it boils down to money and ROI. When universities do advertise on TV it's always to promote the entire university because new 4-year student tuitions do generate a positive ROI. Single game advertising does not.

As someone who makes commercials for a living and has worked with ad agencies and media buyers, what you're proposing will cost BIG money, not just "some money." Especially during a Presidential election year where TV airtime comes at a premium. For a marketing campaign to work you need both reach and frequency. The DFW metro is the #5 DMA in the country so you're going to spend boat-loads of cash to reach the DFW metroplex. Next is frequency. In order to make an impact in the minds of viewers, this ad would need to run multiple times, not just once. So now take the reach costs and multiply it by the frequency costs and you're looking at one helluva investment (mid six-figures) for a single FAU game. Unfortunately the math doesn't make sense because the ROI isn't there.

No doubt this faces an uphill battle but the proposal takes the majority of schools from the previous Power 5 and reorganizes them into 12 divisions to prevent the SEC & Big10 from creating a 32 team super league. Then it creates the Group of 8 (out of the G5 schools) with 8 division | 8 teams per division, which would have the opportunity for promotion/relegation to the top league, depending on performance. I think it's a smart idea. The proposal also adds an additional game to the college football season and increases the CFP to 24 teams for more opportunity.

My freshman, sophomore, and junior year. I remember thinking… “It’s only up from here!” 😂

I agree. I'd love to see them have to put their PAC pride aside and swallow a very bitter Sac State pill. Here's to hoping Memphis stays in the AAC so we can all have a good laugh. 🍻

Sacramento has a population of 4 million people and is the 20th DMA in the country. Sac State is putting the full-court press on the PAC 12 for an invite. https://www.on3.com/nil/news/sacramento-state-hornets-pac-12-committee-raises-35-million-nil-funds/

Full Membership for Hawaii in MWC Possibility
C Rod replied to MCMLXXX's topic in Conference ReAlignment
Now that Texas State is out, this makes way more sense than adding Tarleton State or pulling up an FCS school like NDSU. New Mexico must really not want NMSU to join the MWC. -
A similar 2-league proposal was leaked to the public this past spring and it resembles what is being proposed for the College Student Football League. I've attached the pdf deck if anyone's interested. It calls for a Super League (SL) of 70 permeant schools and an Under League (UL) of 66 schools that would be subject to promotion and relegation based upon performance. If you just want the bullet points, see the attached screen grabs. Personally I think a system like this makes a lot of sense and halts the Big10/SEC breakaway. Not surprisingly, the Big10 and SEC came out against this proposal when it hit the streets last February. And here come the downvotes and puking eagles in 3...2...1... MWC commissioner Gloria Nevarez got her law degree from UC Berkeley and also is married to a Cal Berkeley lawyer. Apparently she's one tough cookie and with her father being of Mexican descent and her mother a mix between Filipina and Irish, I bet she puts up one helluva fight. This a fight for survival is also symbolic with the rest of the nation watching. Get your popcorn ready.

Well according to Pete Thamel, that’s not happening. MWC should tell New Mexico to get over their feelings and invite NMSU.

Texas State to MWC is DOA.

I'm convinced Tom McKrackin is a parody account. Would not surprise me if it was a SMU fan with too much time on their hands.

It makes sense and I’m rooting for UTEP to break free from Judy and CUSA.

I agree. The bye week between the Tulane game and Army game is HUGE. Thankfully both come to Denton so our boys won't have to travel for three weeks straight.

Should our AD & President make a statement?
C Rod replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
I'd much rather our play on the field do the talking. We have the opportunity to beat Memphis, Tulane, and UTSA this season. Let's seize the moment and the national pundits will do the talking. GMG.- 28 replies

Coming to a bar near you! Love to see it. Now let's handle business and force ESPN to do the same for the Memphis game.

The blowout loss at Tech was the final nail in the 3-3-5 coffin. It wasn’t pleasant but it needed to happen.

After watching the PAC and how they treated the MWC, I don’t trust them nor do I want anything to do with them. Both the PAC and MWC are weakened conferences mired in a lawsuit with each other. We’re better off standing on our own and not elevating either with an association with the AAC. Also, just leave the MAC alone. They’ve got a good thing going in the MAC. Let’s not ruin that.
