I see your point and I agree we should not reward 4-8 seasons. I also know companies are rewarded when their CEO convinces top talent to come work for them. When rockstar hires happen, they move the needle and the stock prices rises. Shareholders love when all-star, C-level talent is brought in because it generates buzz and excitement. This is where I would be willing to open my wallet, even after a 4-8 season. If Seth can convince Kendal Briles and Charlie Strong to join our ranks as OC & DC, I will show Wren Baker my approval & excitement by purchasing season tickets and increasing my annual donation. Give me Littrell, Briles, and Strong and you can take my money.

Yes. This would be a heck of a haul for us. Two great recruiters and with name brand recognition in Texas. I just don't see Charlie Strong taking a DC role at UNT after holding down the HC job at UT. I don't think his ego would allow him to take the job but I would love to be proven wrong. Kendal Briles, having won back-to-back state championships for Stephenville HS in '98 & '99, is a legend in Stephenville. His ties to Kade's hometown made it possible to recruit Kade Renfro away from UNT; which resulted in the offer from FSU. How funny would it be if Briles ends up as the OC at UNT and Kade decides to re-commit in the coming weeks. Sure would be a sly way by Littrell to get his QB back.

Back in September, my dumb ass didn’t check first and unknowingly purchased tickets right next to the Cal student section. 🤡 We had to listen to this god-awful, “ROOOOOOOLL ON YOOOOOU BEAAAAAARS!” student chant every time Cal made a first down. Worst of all, Rico Bussey went down 10 yds in front of us, just in earshot of him screaming in pain. Had we been allowed adult beverages in our section I would have drank, heavily. It was brutal but I made peace because we had only lost by 6 on the road vs a P5 school. When it was over my wife gave me a hug and asked if the loss, coupled with the SMU loss, and losing Rico ruined our season. Like a clown, I smiled and said NO WAY! Because we had Mason, and thankfully CUSA was a total dumpster fire. I confidently told her we were picked to win CUSA and it’s not how you start, but how you finish. 🤡 10 weeks later the season is mercifully over. Our last win was two days after Halloween. We finished 0-3 in our final 3 games and 0-6 on the road this year. We also allowed Rice to embarrass us and finish ahead in the standings as a final coup de grâce. 🤡 In one season I’ve given my wife more than enough material to bust my balls for an entire lifetime. If anyone is looking to join a circus, look no further because you have found your ringleader. Just know I’ll be right back here next season supporting our school. Go Mean Green.

Correct. This ESPN push towards streaming is a directive from Disney. Disney wants make ESPN+ into the Netflix of live sports.

While you are correct that people are moving from the traditional cable model to streaming services, you missed the mark on ESPN and it’s parent company Disney. ESPN+ launched 4/12/18 and already has over 3.5M monthly subscribers each paying $5.99 a month. ESPN+ negotiated an exclusive deal with UFC which has been a massive success. Also made deals with the Big12 and AAC to carry their games. I would argue the power of Disney/ABC/ESPN has never been greater than it is right now. Streaming via the Internet has allowed Disney to cut out the cable provider and allow their customers to subscribe directly to their new streaming apps. Who owns the rights to Star Wars and future movies? Disney. Who own HULU? Disney. ESPN+? Disney. Oh let’s not forget the recent launch of Disney+ which is another $6.99 a month subscription and Disney forecast 60-90 Million monthly subscribers by 2024. Streaming is changing the game but it’s the traditional cable providers who are being disrupted. Open letter to Rico Bussey: Rico, I’m not sure how the future will play out but we, the fans, would love for you to return next season. Losing you to injury made it abundantly clear the impact you make on this team and how much we need you. If you stay, you have an opportunity to rehab in place you know well. Your voice could guide the young WR corp in their growth and with your talent, we could help ease the transition to a new QB. An opportunity is at hand for us to put this shitty season behind us and right the wrongs of 2019. So I ask you to leave your legacy here in 2020, ball out, and let’s prepare you for the NFL Draft in 2021! Rico, you’re a part of the Mean Green family now. Why can’t we be both? I don’t see a great passing offense and a great defense as being mutually exclusive. Good teams are able to recruit both sides of the ball.

No, I'd rather not squander a gifted 3 points after a fumble recovery and kill the momentum. We had them on their heels. You don't press on 4th & 12 with 4 min left on the clock and 2 timeouts. Take the points, and then kickoff. Who knows, Rice could fumble the return again, or we pin them deep and force them to play conservative to run the clock.

What do your simple analytics say about converting a 4th & 12 from the 15 yard line?

It’s Mason’s last home game so I will be there and I’m taking my father with me. Yes this season was a bust but Mason deserves a proper send off. I hope fans do show up, if at least just for Mason and to say thank you.

Last night's loss was rough but the atmosphere was fantastic. I’m reminded that progress is never a straight shot and is filled with peaks and valleys. Here’s to hoping we have more peaks than valleys in front of us. A CUSA title WIN at a sold out Apogee, and a bowl win to cap off Mason’s UNT career would make these early season defeats a distant memory. Our goals are still very much on the table. Time to dust ourselves off, refocus over the bye week, and go take what we all want. #GMG
