Since the portal was established, the thought of SMU poaching our talent has given me nightmares. This is a big domino to fall and the message it broadcasts is not a good one for us. We're at risk of losing our top talent to our rival and becoming a feeder school for SMU.

Seeing how Bama just won the National Championship on Monday night, it would make sense as to why the DC hire has taken so long if it is in fact, Mike Stoops.

The only positive I can see come out of this exodus is we're going to be left with the guys who really want to be here.

He’s a 6’2 235lbs RS sophomore with this year not counting against eligibility. I like it! Anyone know if/when the NCAA transfer waiver will go into effect allowing him to play next year?

Things didn’t work out at LSU this year but I would love to see Seth hire Bo Pelini with his 4-3 base defense approach. I get that if he came here it would likely only be for 1-2 years but it would sure help to land transfers this offseason. We have a direct line of communication to Bo if we want to kick the tires... "(Pelini's) got the ability to play any defense that's ever been created," said North Texas special teams coordinator Mike Ekeler, who worked with Pelini coaching linebackers at Nebraska, LSU and Oklahoma. "You get into spring ball and he's like a mad scientist. He always wants to look for the next thing. He's always tinkering with stuff."

My money is on Kason Martin. He may not start the season as the starter but I can see him overtaking Bean & Aune by mid-season. It's worth noting he was the lone QB to not throw an interception last Saturday. He also threw a 60 yd TD and his performance earned praise from coach after the scrimmage. The fact that coach Littrell made a point to mention Kason alongside Bean & Aune to me says this is a real 3-man race for the spot. Apparently Kason has practiced well up to this point and continues to make a good argument for playing time.

IMO, playing for money games at this point is a pipe dream. OU, TCU, and Baylor filled their openings on 9/12 with opponents who were already on the schedule. It was more of a reshuffle of dates and game location (TCU is now hosting SMU.) In this COVID climate and financial crunch, I can't see any P5 team willing to pay us money to play them. We're UNT and we don't have any leverage. If the shoe is on the other foot, are we willing to pay another FCS school to come play at Apogee on 9/12? I highly doubt it. My bet is 9/12 stays open on the schedule and we use it as a prep week for SMU.
