  1. This strange and desperate letter from our fearless CUSA leader, Judy, hit twitter a few hours ago. Not sure if it's real but it's dated 7/27/21 and references "all twelve Institutions". Ooookay, last time I checked CUSA still had 14 schools... Either Marshall and ODU already notified Judy that they'll be leaving CUSA or Judy doesn't have a clue how many teams are in the CUSA. This can't be real, right?
  2. Good lord, look at that non-conference schedule. '02 was my freshman year at UNT and I thought every year would be like this. Haha, boy was I wrong.
  3. Before UT and OU bolted for the SEC, the experts were saying 2025 would be the year for FBS realignment due to expiring TV deals. Hmm.
  4. Additional coverage from two days ago... https://www.dnronline.com/sports/mettlen-politics-in-other-states-could-shape-jmus-conference-future/article_4c19d02d-70eb-51b4-b77f-e67f93326960.html
  5. It appears ODU and Marshall are working behind the scenes to shake things up... https://www.dnronline.com/sports/mettlen-jmus-patience-may-be-about-to-pay-off-in-realignment/article_cff53d7a-31d4-59c6-b4fb-b7d08ef35966.html
  6. I'm so sick of the P5 stealing our talent. All jokes aside, I'm happy for Matthew and wish him the best and his career advances. Go Mean Green. https://247sports.com/college/north-texas/Article/Letter-from-Brune-Meangreen247-isnt-going-anywhere-but-thank-you-168748313/
  7. Yikes. Here’s the article. Lawyers on all sides are about to get PAID. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/big-12-believes-american-is-attempting-to-grab-eight-remaining-members-with-texas-oklahoma-leaving-for-sec/
  8. Several years ago, I had the opportunity to work with Stone Cold Steve Austin for an in-game promo for the Dallas Cowboys. We were on set in LA, and I wasn't sure what to expect from the man, the myth, the legend. I knew I would soon find out if he still a Texan or if he had gone all Hollywood on us. We only had him for a few hours and due to LA traffic, he arrived to set a few minutes behind schedule. He came in with dark sunglasses on, and his phone pressed to his ear. He sounded irritated with the call, so I gave him some space before introducing myself. Wardrobe pulled me aside to look through the options quickly. And then I heard it - a booming voice from across the room, "Alright, which one of you is the director?!" The intensity and slight aggression in his voice brought the crew to hush. Eyeballs quickly darted my way. My heart rate quickened. He was testing me. Now, he never came out and said it, but it's known that established actors often test directors. They want to see our grit, and most importantly, they're looking for confidence. How I responded next could make or break the day. "RIGHT HERE!" I shouted back, matching his intensity. We made eye contact, and he hits me with the look you see below. You know the look. It's a look he's perfected over his career, and let me tell you, when it's you he's looking at, you feel it. Adrenaline hits my system, and my inner dialogue steadies me: Don't break eye contact, don't bitch out. When getting dressed that morning, I decided to wear my only pair of boots to set. Why? Because I'm 5'10 and in boots, I'm 6 ft tall. Feeling confident at my new fighting height, I strode over with a smile on my face. The man doesn't break eye contact either and keeps the same energy. But I'm undeterred because I have an ace up my sleeve. Halfway across the room, I start speaking, "Mr. Stone Cold Steve Austin, my name is Chris Rodriguez. Graduate from THE University of North Texas. Class of '06". I thrust out my for a handshake, and I kid you not - the moment North Texas left my mouth, his demeanor completely changed. He breaks character, shakes my hand, and says, "Is that right? Go Mean Green." We go on to talk about his days playing for UNT and our shared optimism for better days ahead for the program. A smile later, and he looks down and says, "I don't often see directors wearing boots in LA. You really are from Texas. I like it, let's roll!".
  9. I shared the news with my good friend who is a Baylor diehard fan: "That's a good hire. We hired him in year 4 of Briles era and that's when we finally took off because we could finally stop people. He's a good guy, I really like him."
  10. I agree and I understand it. But the Denton to Dallas transfer route is a double kick in the nuts.
  11. Since the portal was established, the thought of SMU poaching our talent has given me nightmares. This is a big domino to fall and the message it broadcasts is not a good one for us. We're at risk of losing our top talent to our rival and becoming a feeder school for SMU.
  12. Seeing how Bama just won the National Championship on Monday night, it would make sense as to why the DC hire has taken so long if it is in fact, Mike Stoops.
  13. The only positive I can see come out of this exodus is we're going to be left with the guys who really want to be here.
  14. Tre Siggers just hit the portal. Sure feels like a mass exodus.
  15. He looks like a winner to me. 🍻 High School: A team captain who played for Bill Blankenship at Owasso High School … Led the Rams to the 2017 Oklahoma 6A-1 State Championship … Earned all-state honors as a senior, as well as first team all-district honors … Team leader in tackles during his junior and senior seasons … Finished his high school career with a single game high of 18 tackles in the state championship game … Also a talented baseball player who was selected as a Rawlings-Perfect Game Preseason All-American as a senior … 247Sports ranked him as the No. 94 inside linebacker in the country and as the No. 31 overall prospect in the state of Oklahoma.
  16. He’s a 6’2 235lbs RS sophomore with this year not counting against eligibility. I like it! Anyone know if/when the NCAA transfer waiver will go into effect allowing him to play next year?
  17. Things didn’t work out at LSU this year but I would love to see Seth hire Bo Pelini with his 4-3 base defense approach. I get that if he came here it would likely only be for 1-2 years but it would sure help to land transfers this offseason. We have a direct line of communication to Bo if we want to kick the tires... "(Pelini's) got the ability to play any defense that's ever been created," said North Texas special teams coordinator Mike Ekeler, who worked with Pelini coaching linebackers at Nebraska, LSU and Oklahoma. "You get into spring ball and he's like a mad scientist. He always wants to look for the next thing. He's always tinkering with stuff."
  18. Compared to our defense, I’d rather watch highlights of these announcers.
  19. ...inside of a dumpster fire.
  20. Ooof almost threw a pick 6. Seth, put Kason in the game.
  21. Mean Green Nation, Take a moment and look at this beautiful sight. Just peep the P5 school offers he turned down. Our coaches and recruiting staff need to be commended for their work. This OU flip is the crown jewel in the 2020-21 class. Unreal. Enjoy it! https://247sports.com/Recruitment/Caleb-Johnson-137710/RecruitInterests/
  22. Rayvon is a MAN. 6'5 325lbs on the OLine. Love to see it.
