  1. WHEN we go 2-10? Are you watching this season? Our only win is vs a FCS team. We're halfway there, bud. The board is going to bitch and moan no matter what happens.
  2. I like your thinking. If I were Wren, I’d go with energy, excitement, and youth with our next coaching staff. Bring back Graham Harrell as HC & Playcaller Promote Patrick Cobbs to OC along with his RB coach duties. Allows him to learn under Harrell so that when GH leaves in 3+years, Cobbs is next in line for an interview. Bring Zach Orr home and hire him as the next DC. His time playing and coaching D for the Baltimore Ravens would be an asset to this team. Knowing what he knows, I would love to see what he could do with our defense.
  3. Here’s what I would love to happen: Bring back Graham Harrell as the new HC and play caller. We all saw the offensive dropoff after he left. Even Mason Fine wasn't the same after he left. Promote Patrick Cobbs to OC and still oversee the running backs. Steal Zach Orr from Urban Meyer & Jacksonville and hire him as the next DC. Zach spent YEARS playing in, and learning the Baltimore Ravens defense. The guy is smart, young, and would bring that Baltimore D aggression to UNT. https://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/report-zach-orr-to-join-jaguars-defensive-staff
  4. Norah Jones - Don’t Know Why It's fitting because when I watch our beloveded UNT football team, I get very confused and all I have is questions... Don't know why we go down by 4 scores before halftime. Don't know why we can't convert on 4th & 1. Don't know why we put ourselves through this every year.
  5. And... It's now 48-28. We’re a dumpster fire.
  6. I fully understand how agents work, I work with them all the time. When I say reduced buyout I'm talking about spreading the dollars out over multiple years.
  7. Exactly. This is not a good look for either party. My hope is a reduced buyout they both can agree on.
  8. Our trajectory feels like a flat-line right now.
  9. Austin Aune ain’t it either. Ooof this is going to be a long season. I say fire Littrell and hire Graham Harrell.
  10. In one of the most consequential seasons with conference realignment, we look god awful. Seth can’t win big games and can’t convert on 4th & 1. So disappointing.
  11. Ouch. The truth hurts. Unless the MWC wants to make a play for Texas schools, I don't see us going anywhere. I think the realistic and pragmatic play is to gain as much influence and power as possible inside CUSA, and remake it from within. First, get rid of Judy and bring in proven leadership to help consolidate the league footprint. Marshall and ODU are working their way out so let them leave - as well as a few other schools from CUSA East. Grab three regional teams from SBC and you can create a 12 team league with a tight geographic footprint. I think it's wise and works in our favor that UNT Prez Neal Smatresk recently became the new Board Chair of CUSA. 12. This just dropped an hour ago on Sports Illustrated: https://www.si.com/college/2021/09/08/big-12-expansion-aac-mike-aresco-reaction
  13. This strange and desperate letter from our fearless CUSA leader, Judy, hit twitter a few hours ago. Not sure if it's real but it's dated 7/27/21 and references "all twelve Institutions". Ooookay, last time I checked CUSA still had 14 schools... Either Marshall and ODU already notified Judy that they'll be leaving CUSA or Judy doesn't have a clue how many teams are in the CUSA. This can't be real, right?
  14. Good lord, look at that non-conference schedule. '02 was my freshman year at UNT and I thought every year would be like this. Haha, boy was I wrong.
  15. Before UT and OU bolted for the SEC, the experts were saying 2025 would be the year for FBS realignment due to expiring TV deals. Hmm.

  18. I'm so sick of the P5 stealing our talent. All jokes aside, I'm happy for Matthew and wish him the best and his career advances. Go Mean Green. https://247sports.com/college/north-texas/Article/Letter-from-Brune-Meangreen247-isnt-going-anywhere-but-thank-you-168748313/
  19. Yikes. Here’s the article. Lawyers on all sides are about to get PAID. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/big-12-believes-american-is-attempting-to-grab-eight-remaining-members-with-texas-oklahoma-leaving-for-sec/
  20. Several years ago, I had the opportunity to work with Stone Cold Steve Austin for an in-game promo for the Dallas Cowboys. We were on set in LA, and I wasn't sure what to expect from the man, the myth, the legend. I knew I would soon find out if he still a Texan or if he had gone all Hollywood on us. We only had him for a few hours and due to LA traffic, he arrived to set a few minutes behind schedule. He came in with dark sunglasses on, and his phone pressed to his ear. He sounded irritated with the call, so I gave him some space before introducing myself. Wardrobe pulled me aside to look through the options quickly. And then I heard it - a booming voice from across the room, "Alright, which one of you is the director?!" The intensity and slight aggression in his voice brought the crew to hush. Eyeballs quickly darted my way. My heart rate quickened. He was testing me. Now, he never came out and said it, but it's known that established actors often test directors. They want to see our grit, and most importantly, they're looking for confidence. How I responded next could make or break the day. "RIGHT HERE!" I shouted back, matching his intensity. We made eye contact, and he hits me with the look you see below. You know the look. It's a look he's perfected over his career, and let me tell you, when it's you he's looking at, you feel it. Adrenaline hits my system, and my inner dialogue steadies me: Don't break eye contact, don't bitch out. When getting dressed that morning, I decided to wear my only pair of boots to set. Why? Because I'm 5'10 and in boots, I'm 6 ft tall. Feeling confident at my new fighting height, I strode over with a smile on my face. The man doesn't break eye contact either and keeps the same energy. But I'm undeterred because I have an ace up my sleeve. Halfway across the room, I start speaking, "Mr. Stone Cold Steve Austin, my name is Chris Rodriguez. Graduate from THE University of North Texas. Class of '06". I thrust out my for a handshake, and I kid you not - the moment North Texas left my mouth, his demeanor completely changed. He breaks character, shakes my hand, and says, "Is that right? Go Mean Green." We go on to talk about his days playing for UNT and our shared optimism for better days ahead for the program. A smile later, and he looks down and says, "I don't often see directors wearing boots in LA. You really are from Texas. I like it, let's roll!".
  21. I shared the news with my good friend who is a Baylor diehard fan: "That's a good hire. We hired him in year 4 of Briles era and that's when we finally took off because we could finally stop people. He's a good guy, I really like him."
