  1. Update: UAB just scored with 4:39 left in the 4th. Down by 7. 31-24
  2. UAB took the lead on UTSA 17-16 with 5 min left in the 3rd.
  3. The way the back of his head smacked the turf and how he was holding his head after, I think he may have sustained a concussion. I hope I’m wrong or at the very least it’s a mild one.
  4. Damn. We’re going to be limping to UAB next week.
  5. There is way too much time left in this game to f**k around and find out. Unfortunately Aune’s decision making can easily make this a game again.
  6. Another ankle. Our RB room is thinning out quickly…
  7. Amen, me too. ESPN produces and distributes AAC games so we’ll see a big improvement next year on the broadcast. Better cameras, cam ops, graphic packages, replays, and technology.
  8. Our games on ESPN+ are produced by UNT and only distributed by ESPN network. You’re not comparing apples to apples.
  9. If I were to put money on it, I wouldn’t say ESPN is to blame.
  10. With the big road win last week vs WKU and UAB up next week on the road, this game vs FIU feels like the dreaded letdown trap game. I sure hope we come to play today and wrap this game up early in the 4th. #GMG
  11. Exactly. Apparently the GMG pitchfork mob is out for blood today. I understand going after the underperforming HC making millions of dollars but to go after the local sports beat writer making a living on a reporter’s salary is savage.
  12. I agree and I’ve posted to this board my hope for an annual post-Thanksgiving game vs SMU. I think it could be awesome and makes sense for the reasons you listed. However the realist in me also thinks SMU couldn’t careless about developing a crosstown rivalry with a team they don’t consider worthy. Especially since we’re excited to be joining the American and they’re looking towards the exit. I hope I’m wrong on SMU’s mindset but IMO it feels like we want the SMU rivalry to be a thing more than they do.
  13. Sure but your rational is all fan speak and hopium. I’d love for the crosstown rivalry to take hold too however SMU has been trying to keep us from joining their ranks for years. SMU with their money and clout as current a AAC member, will have their choice of chief conference rival. Unfortunately, with what we know about SMU, why would they choose UNT and thereby elevate us as their chief rival? SMU turns up their nose and scoffs the same way many on this board do when someone talks about our growing rivalry with UTSA.
  14. We’re talking about the Saturday game after Thanksgiving.
  15. With all of our history and experience with SMU, I'm curious what makes you think SMU would choose us as their chief conference rival? IMO the only reason SMU chooses us for their Thanksgiving game is so they can grab an easy win and make it home within an hour after the game for leftover turkey. If we compare rivalries, SMU vs Rice beats SMU vs UNT by a mile. I see SMU's old alumni base and big money donors more excited about an annual Thanksgiving game vs Rice than against us. http://www.winsipedia.com/north-texas/vs/smu http://www.winsipedia.com/smu/vs/rice
  16. A revival of the SMU vs Rice rivalry shouldn't be overlooked. http://www.winsipedia.com/smu/vs/rice 48-41-1 in SMU's favor. Rice beat SMU 127-3 in 1916 for the ass whooping of the century. SMU returned the favor 58-0 in 1978. They play for a trophy called the Mayor's Cup. The last game in the series was in 2012 before SMU bolted for the American in 2013 and they haven't played since.
  17. The story’s behind a paywall. https://apple.news/AoHsvyWamTRqN-gvdGWNQHg https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/10/22/oldest-college-quarterback-austin-aune/
  18. Exactly. Heck it’s good to let everyone know that we’re running through the CUSA conference as we head to greener pastures in the American. I’d hate to imagine if we were in Charlotte’s shoes right now.
  19. With Coach Cobbs’ trajectory, the sky is the limit. Through injury and adversity, I’ve been so impressed with our RB room the past few years. The man had a successful career in the NFL, is a UNT legend, and loves Denton. This is the type of coach I want to build the program around. His resume speaks for itself and recruits can’t deny that with hard work, a path to the NFL is possible though UNT. Pay the man well and keep him here. He has what it takes to be an OC or HC. I hope he gets the call sooner than later.
  20. These uniforms are fire. 🔥 T-minus 6 games (possibly 7) from never again having to see that godawful CUSA logo stain our uniform.
  21. Matt Rhule was just fired…
  22. This. I would vote for UNT and SMU to play the Saturday after Thanksgiving, every year. From a news/marketing perspective, a local conference rivalry game would help boost attendance in what is typically a low-turnout game for both schools. Heck, an AAC conference championship invite could very well be on the line. Hype it up in the media and put cheeks in seats. And let’s be honest, both schools would rather to play a local game on Thanksgiving weekend for obvious reasons. From an X’s & O’s perspective, we’d have the entire season of film to study SMU and know exactly what we’re dealing with before kickoff. Our guys would fully understand their strengths, capabilities, roles, and assignments. I firmly believe this is what allowed us to knock off undefeated nUTSAck last year… (checks calendar) yep, on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
  23. I’d like to highlight that Verde posted 9 more times after making this statement. 😂
  24. Someone please tell this trash broadcast that TV cameras are placed at the 20 yd line, 50 yd line, and 20 yd line for a reason! As the team advances down the field, SWITCH to the camera closets to the ball. It’s really not that difficult.
