PAC 12 Realignment Talk Mega Thread (All 12 threads merged)
C Rod replied to cousin oliver's topic in Conference ReAlignment
Apparently they have a group of donors willing to commit to $200M, spread out over 5 years, to offset the loss in TV revenue. SMU and their fans are in a sad state of desperation. -
I am starting to think this may really be happening!

You know they have to be in their feelings tonight. They came with such confidence and bravado only to watch their university be reduced to desperation by offering to join the ACC for nothing for 5 years. How embarrassing. For once in their life they can’t buy their way into the country club. I know that must sting. Anyhoo I’m gonna go make a sandwich. All this laughing has worked up my appetite. -
🤣 This is peak comedy! Now do the Big Ten! 😂

Yikes, didn't the ACC take note of what happened to the PAC when they considered adding SMU?! That ship sank faster than the Titanic. I'm sure the sequel will be just as entertaining as the original. 🍿🥤 -

Forget Michael Jordan, if Mike Aresco can pull this off he’ll forever be the GOAT in my eyes. 🙏🏼 -

Wow. Guess this means Stanford is going independent and/or when the Big Ten calls. -

Crush Your Enemy Totally “If one ember is left alight, no matter how dimly it smolders, a fire will eventually break out. More is lost through stopping halfway than through total annihilation: The enemy will recover, and will seek revenge. Crush him, not only in body but in spirit." - Robert Greene, The 48 Laws of Power -

Mike Aresco is working behind the scenes… MWC has also signaled to the PAC that they are open to a merger. Thankfully the AAC has the type of elite educational-focused schools Stanford and Cal want to be associated with and the Texas recruiting & TV markets. 🙏🏼 -

PAC should hire Judy. She was able to save CUSA after it got raided, just imagine what she’d do for the PAC 😂 -

Sad but true. Judy at least kept CUSA alive. George tanked one of the historic P5 conferences. Good luck finding your next job, bud. -

I can’t imagine that would go over well if they did. Zona and AZ State are a package deal IMO. Utah joins the Big12 to even up the numbers and be BYU’s travel partner. And with the leak today that the Big Ten is now looking to rescue Oregon, Wash, Stanford & Cal, that just leaves Oregon State & Washington State (and maybe SMU 😂). I have a feeling the MWC will add both schools in the next two years. When the dust settles, the 30 for 30 on this debacle will be must see TV. -

... and if it turns out that the deal to doom the PAC happened in SMU's backyard... oh the comedy. -

It's Twitter so take this with a grain of salt but it appears Brett Yormark and Arizona's president Robert Robbins had dinner tonight in Dallas. -

A lot of dominos would have to fall and even then, I don't see it. The MWC has an exit fee of $34M if teams leave within 12 months, which means those schools can't afford to just bounce to the weakened PAC. A two year wait drops the exit fee to $17M but even then, what school is going to want to commit 8-figures leave a stable league to enter a shaky one that is losing brandname schools left and right? Also the PAC doesn't have the luxury to wait two years because the PAC's GOR TV deal expires at the end of this year and after it's expired, PAC teams are free agents and can walk without paying an exit fee. If Arizona, Arizona State, & Utah bolt for the Big12, the PAC's chances of landing a lucrative TV deal that keeps the league together is zero. Oregon and Washington will wait a year and then walk over to the Big 10 without spending a dime of exit fees. Stanford & Cal most likely go Independent due to their refusal to be associated with MWC schools. The PAC ship is taking on water and the schools are heading towards the life rafts.
