Seth and his family sat in front of me two years ago. He also bought my grandson another soda after he spilled it. I am sure he is aware of the success all of the athletic department is having.
-
Funny!!! CUSA won’t care, though.
-
We have only won 6 games or more in a season 7 times since 1978. Seth has 2 of those. if Gary comes in here and only wins 7-9 games a season that will mean we never win our conference and will have not beaten any “good” teams. We are already hearing complaints about this problem with Seth. Just saying…

Here is a metaphor that might help you understand. UNT is divorcing CUSA. CUSA is demanding child support. Do you really believe we are going to get away with not paying? No matter if only two teams are left, that conference will demand it’s payments. All while planning to bring up FCS teams to get to 6 schools and still be eligible for an automatic bid to the Big Dance for a conference BB champ. Only thing we could have hoped for was what happened with Marshall. They got their $2 million entrance fee waived. That didn’t happen for us…
-
Probably. UNT hadn’t ever played for a conference championship in CUSA. I bet he wanted the players to enjoy it and I am sure they thought they would be back playing for many more championships.
-
Wow! Are you really concerned about what the coaches wives post on social media? Kiffen curb stomped everyone to get a P5 job. I do wish Seth had that same laser focus and was just as heartless as Kiffen. That said, Kiffen is challenging to like.

I do agree with your point about how we lose. So many blow outs. We have won some close games. But usually lose huge to teams.
-
I guess my only point for the post is to soften the blow for all the passionate posters that are demanding Seth be fired after every game. It probably won’t happen…

4-8 in 2019 was bad. 4-6 in 2020, is Wren counting that season against Seth? We constantly ran out players on both sides of the ball that clearly weren’t ready to play due to testing positive for Covid19 or contact tracing. Other programs cancelled games when this happened. We started a backup fullback at linebacker for 2 games. Is Wren and Seth counting last season like it was just a “spring training” and was just being used for training and development for young players? If the team gets to 5 wins, does that show enough progress for Wren to keep Seth? Last season changes were made (DC and some assistant coaches) and are helping. Brought in a potential improvement at QB that so far has been a bust. Injuries to receivers aren’t helping a below average QB look better. I think Wren is going to give Seth another year.

An accurate QB.

Ummm, you just proved my point. UNT wants an athletic facility that is dedicated to basketball, volleyball. They don’t want a multi use facility.
-
I agree and have bought season tickets for my family since the J. Jones era. I do hope the students come back at the same level some day. That was awesome and very loud!!! What a hostile crowd for visiting teams!
-
This is not true. Remember a couple of years ago the women had to play a game at TWU because the education department had an event scheduled and wouldn’t change it. The SuperPit was built with education monies. The education department owns it and controls it not the athletic department. They do a very good job of scheduling athletics but occasionally don’t.

I believe he was down. Wrapped up and zero forward progress. If that was Aune, we would have been given a safety. A question I have is if the QB tosses the ball underhand like he did and we recovered it, wouldn’t that be a turnover? Isn’t that a live ball like it was a pitch to a running back? Was this play just too confusing for the refs so they chose the worst/easiest option?

Conference Exit Fee Question/Scenario/Precedent?
Hookset replied to Pseudo Nym's topic in Mean Green Football
Minimum of 6 schools needed for an automatic bid as a conference champion to the tournament. -
I do agree with that somewhat. When I went to the Cal vs UNT game, it wasn’t a sellout, but there was a large crowd to see them play little old UNT. There are lots of options in that area. Yet there was 3-4 times the largest crowd that has ever been in Apogee stadium. Even when winning we barely get over 23,000.
-
One more thing I honestly think is fortunate for UNT. We have such a large band. After the halftime show, the band parents leave. If it wasn’t for the large and very good marching band, we might only have about 4000 fans at every game. That does not look good to any potential new coach.
-
I agree with a definite lack of consistent winning. I was at last Saturday’s game. Student section was practically empty. They are a huge part of the funding for athletics (or the parents/banks are) and even they don’t support the team. Would a loud crowd at that game made it harder for Liberty to call options at the line of scrimmage? Instead it was more like a closed scrimmage for them. No “12th man” support at all. Fan support at games does matter.
-
That bandwagon fan philosophy needs to stop. A huge selling point for Hayden Fry going to Iowa was even though they were perennial losers, the fans showed up and were loud. A loud crowd will make our home field a hostile place to play for visiting teams to play. A fan base that only shows up when we win is not a good selling point for a potential new coach. Withhold your big money gifts to the MGSF and send a letter to the AD with your reasoning. But show up for your team and be a part of its future.
-
That is wrong. All monies must be accounted for.
-
There will always be a fee. CUSA is the lowest level of the G5 conferences. Barely above FCS conferences. The remaining schools will add FCS programs to stay and will get their exit fees from the 6 schools. Don’t kid yourself we aren’t paying an exit fee.
-
There is no chance at all that we won’t have to pay an exit fee. Really is crystal clear.
-

Seth will be back. For money reasons only. $2.9 million buy out just for him. I am sure all the other coaches have some type of a buy out also. $4 million fee to leave CUSA. Isn’t there an entrance fee to AAC? Our share of the TV money for the AAC is prorated so we won’t be able to offset money spent for Seth to go away for several years. We need to expand our athletic training facility and weight room. We won’t have the money to do everything and buy out the coaches as well as pay for a new batch of coaches (especially if we hire an upgraded coaching staff for more $$$). Seth will coach out his contract. Then a change will be made.
