  1. I like Jared as well but there is nothing wrong about setting goals and making improvements over the status quo at UNT.
  2. DENTON – The UNT men’s basketball remained undefeated at home with a 77-64 win over Florida Atlantic at the Super Pit Sunday. Moulaye Sissoko recorded his second double-double of the season and third of his career on 14 points and a season-high 13 rebounds. Sissoko has now scored double-digit points in four consecutive games, extending his career-long streak. North Texas (15-4, 6-1), who trailed by seven at the half, scored 50 points in the second half to earn its fourth come from behind win of the season. It’s the most points UNT has scored in a half against a conference opponent since scoring 55 against Rice on Dec. 29, 2018. “I give coach [John] Jakus and his staff a lot of credit, they came in with a big spirit,” UNT head coach Ross Hodge said. “I thought with eight minutes to go in the first half, we started getting a little more active, started getting some more turnovers and cut into the lead.” The Owls (10-10, 3-4) got their early lead behind Kaleb Glenn, as his 11 points at half led Florida Atlantic to the 34-27 lead at the break. UNT’s offensive explosion in the second half was led by Brenen Lorient, who built upon his five points in the first half with 12 in the second half. The Mean Green also took care of the ball as they finished with 10 assists and just five turnovers on the day. The Mean Green took the lead at the 11:07 mark of the second half on a Sissoko jumper and did not look back. Lorient finished with 17 points, his 11th double-digit performance of the season. Atin Wright also scored 17 points, going 4-8 from 3-point range. Sunday’s win also ends a five-game losing streak to FAU and is North Texas’ fifth straight overall win this year, which is a season best. They are now 11-0 at home for the first time since the 2010-11 season. Next up, North Texas heads to Wichita State on Wednesday at Koch Arena. The contest tips off at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+ and the Mean Green Sports Network presented by Learfield.
  3. We have 11 games remaining in the season. To think we could go undefeated for that long a stretch and not get in? Is that possible?
  4. Negative but I had a similar thought.
  5. Love this team and how the just wear teams down. We play smart basketball.
  6. I think you are right but promotion could be better as well.
  7. Totally basketball Is where we have a chance.
  8. So I get that their respective teams seem to be doing well as they usually all do as they are good programs by in large year in year out. I think Jason is the one who has truly stood out of them all in terms of his production. Beyond that, Rubin is playing very little at Michigan and the others are essentially role players on decent teams. Time will tell as now these guys are facing tougher conference opponents and we should reevaluate their respective decisions once we get closer to the tournament. I do agree 100% that Ross Hodge is a fantastic evaluator of talent. He is tailor made for this NIL portal system.
  9. Absolutely he is tailor made for this portal era of recruiting having been at a juco before.
  10. DENTON, Texas – Assistant coach Sean Brophy has added the title of Passing Game Coordinator, UNT head football coach Eric Morris announced Tuesday. Brophy has served as the quarterbacks coach for each of the last two seasons with the Mean Green under Morris. Under Brophy’s guidance, the North Texas passing offense has ranked 12th and fourth in FBS, respectively, in 2023 and 2024. Brophy has coached a pair of UNT quarterbacks who have thrown for over 3,000 yards while finishing inside the top 10 in FBS in passing touchdowns in each of his first two seasons with the Mean Green. In his two seasons in Denton, the UNT offense has racked up 7,923 passing yards, the second-most of any two-year period in program history. In addition, the 2024 offense finished with 4,267 passing yards, the most in program history. Brophy developed former walk-on quarterback Drew Mestemaker, who arrived at North Texas in the summer of 2024. Mestemaker made his first career start in the 2025 SERVPRO First Responder Bowl against Texas State and set a UNT record for most passing yards in a bowl game with 393 while posting 448 yards of total offense, tied for the most of any FBS player in the 2024-25 bowl cycle. In 2024, Brophy helped lead the Mean Green to the fourth-best passing offense in the country. UNT averaged 328.2 passing yards per game, shattering the UNT record of 306.8 ypg set in 2018 while also throwing 33 touchdown passes on the year, tied for the second-most in a single season in school history. Brophy helped the 2023 Mean Green finish No. 12 in the country in passing offense averaging 304.7 ypg. Mean Green quarterbacks posted a 33:9 touchdown-to-interception ratio and a 147.30 passing efficiency rating on the season. In total, the UNT passing offense ranked inside the top five in program history in passing yards, passing yards per game, completions and touchdowns. Prior to arriving in Denton, Brophy spent the 2022 as a graduate assistant at Washington State under Morris assisting with the quarterbacks. During the 2021 season, his first in the coaching ranks, he served as an assistant wide receivers and quarterbacks coach at his alma mater, the University of Incarnate Word, under Morris and UNT offensive coordinator Jordan Davis. In 2021, the Cardinals posted a 10-3 record, reached the FCS Playoffs for the second time in four seasons; while assisting in the development of current Cougar quarterback Cameron Ward, he threw for 4,648 yards and 47 touchdowns on the season. Brophy was a three-year quarterback at UIW after transferring from Glendale Community College prior to the 2017 season. At UIW, he played for Morris for his final two seasons, helping the Cardinals to a Southland Conference title in 2018. A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Brophy graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English (2018) and a Master of Business Administration (2019).
  11. Mark my words it is coming to our AD as well.
  12. I thought they named it after Mean Joe Green?
  13. It is supposed to work that way starting July 1.
  14. This women's team is legit!
  15. These are kids they are preying man! What kind of question was that?
  16. Your are right! And they keep building more and more! I keep wondering how will they have that many people to move in there. Also they are bare bones in terms of construction finish. Sad that the city allows this.
  17. How is is this helping the kids and their families?
