You say that but it would not surprise me to see SMU offer them suitcases full of money to get the invite. They are that rich.

The Angelo Football Clinic, regarded as one of the best and most anticipated in the country, is going completely virtual for its 50th anniversary this week. Unlike previous years — in which the event was held at Angelo State University — under the supervision of Angelo State football coach Jeff Girsch, the event is scheduled to be held online from Thursday through Saturday. University of North Texas special teams coach and former Alabama assistant Drew Svoboda is slated to host a special teams clinic. read more: https://www.gosanangelo.com/story/sports/2023/06/15/50th-angelo-football-clinic-goes-virtual/70323967007/

NORTH TEXAS MEAN GREEN The line: 6.5 Case for the over: Eric Morris knows how to win. He turned a dreadful Incarnate Word program into an FCS contender, and he hopes to take the Mean Green to the next step. And it isn’t like he inherited a roster without success. They played for a C-USA title in 2022 and former head coach Seth Littrell had the program in a bowl game almost every season. An improved offensive attack could unlock North Texas. Transfer quarterback Chandler Rogers showed his potential in the spring game. The running back room remains a strength, as does the secondary. It is possible for North Texas to start the season 5-1 or even 6-0 with an upset over Cal in Week 1. A Week 12 constes with Tulsa is also winnable. All North Texas must do is steal one from UTSA, SMU, UAB, Memphis, or Tulane to hit the over. Case for the under: Year 1 is never easy for a head football coach. The Mean Green lost starting quarterback Austin Aune and over 200 tackles from the linebacker position. The offensive line lacks true offensive tackles and the transfer portal hurt the wide receiver and defensive end position. The defense is transitioning to an odd man front and the roster might not feature enough big bodies up front to pull it off. The second half of the schedule is a brutal run. read more: https://www.texasfootball.com/article/2023/06/14/over-or-under-the-case-for-each-g5-program-in-texas?ref=related_thumb

Well UTSA did have a big win landing Frank Harris who seems to have been playing there for a decade. Seth did not care about recruiting, felt he and his staff could "coach them up". Thankfully that seems to have changed.

The Charlotte 49ers’ search for their next men’s basketball head coach is narrowing — and fast. Ron Sanchez, who had been the 49ers’ head coach for five seasons and was Mike Hill’s first hire as athletic director, stepped down last Tuesday, returning to his previous school to become associate head coach under Tony Bennett with the Virginia Cavaliers. Assistant coach Aaron Fearne was named interim head coach, and his responsibilities have already shifted as summer workouts started Monday. Freeze ‘real excited’ about North Texas transfers
Tommy Gadberry replied to Tommy Gadberry's topic in Mean Green Football
I get what you are saying but my son has been a fan of Jyaire for 3-4 years now and we bought him a jersey last year that cost close to 200 bucks and he got it autographed by Jyaire at Rudy's as well. How do I explain to my son that he can't cheer for his favorite player anymore? -

Should the AAC consider adding Liberty?
Tommy Gadberry replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Saying you don't want Liberty if they add value to the conference and increase our revenue streams doesn't make sense. Yes they have had some scandals with Fallwell but so did Baylor and all of you would accept Baylor in a heartbeat. #GEtOffURHIGH HORSE -
DENTON, Texas – UNT men’s basketball head coach Ross Hodge hired former Southeastern Louisiana assistant coach Mike Randle on Thursday to be an on-floor assistant coach for the reigning 2023 NIT champion Mean Green. Randle joins Hodge’s staff after a successful season at Southeastern where he helped lead the Lions to an 18-14 overall record and a top-three finish in the Southland Conference with a 12-6 league record. SLU’s 12 league wins were tied for its most since 2018. “I am excited to have Mike join our basketball program,” Hodge said. “He has an energetic and infectious personality that attracts people to him. His ability to connect with student-athletes, staff, and alumni will be a tremendous asset to UNT. He is tireless worker and has built meaningful relationships throughout the country.” The Lions were one of the most balanced teams in the conference but featured one of the nation’s most secure offenses. Southeastern played a quicker tempo and averaged over 77.5 points per game and were one of the nation’s best at not turning the ball over and making 3-pointers. The Lions connected on nearly 37 percent of their shots from long range and turned the ball over less than 17 percent of the time. Randle was instrumental in mentoring the Lions’ newcomer Boogie Anderson to a first team all-league honor. Anderson led the Lions in scoring (14.1 ppg), assists (4.4 apg) and steals (1.2 spg). Prior to Southeastern Louisiana, Randle made a name for himself in the junior college ranks. He spent the 2021-22 season at Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, Florida, as an assistant coach and helped guide the River to a 28-5 record, a conference championship and seven all-conference selections and a first team all-American honoree in AJ Cajuste. For its success, Indian River State College’s staff led by head coach Charlie Wilson were named the Coach of the Year. Prior to IRSC, Randle spent the 2020-21 season at Kilgore College as an assistant coach helping lead the Rangers to the NJCAA National Tournament for the first time since 2013. Killgore finished with an 18-6 overall record in the COVID shortened season. Randle mentored NJCAA All-American Dantwan Grimes that season who later transferred to Baylor. Randle, a Houston native and 2015 graduate from Eastern New Mexico State, began his playing career at Paris Junior College and led them to a NJCAA Region XIV conference championship. Hodge is an alum and the former head coach at Paris from 2005-09. Randle is joining a UNT men's basketball program coming off its most successful season in its history. The Mean Green won a program-record 31 games last season to go along with tying the program-record for conference wins (16). UNT earned a bid into the 2023 National Invitation Tournament where they defeated Alcorn State, Sam Houston, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin and UAB in route to its first NIT championship in program history. North Texas, which has now won a championship trophy in each of the last four seasons, elevated associate head coach Ross Hodge to head coach on April 2 and will make the move to the American Athletic Conference next season. Season tickets for the 2023-24 Mean Green men and women's basketball teams are available now at www.meangreentickets.com. Tickets start as low as $99 for men's and $75 for women's basketball. For more information on tickets, contact the Mean Green Ticket Office at 940-565-2527 or at ticketoffice@unt.edu. Fans can visit the UNT Athletics Ticket Office located at Gate 2 of Apogee Stadium between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

10. NORTH TEXAS MEAN GREEN 5-year avg.: 20,724 5-year-over-year percent change: -8.2 When the students show up in bunches, Apogee Stadium is one of the best venues in G5 football, especially in the Lone Star State. The Mean Green March includes the Green Brigade Marching Band and the football team. The set-up is great for tailgating. https://www.texasfootball.com/article/2023/05/18/ranking-the-best-game-day-experiences-in-texas-college-football?ref=article_preview_img

LAGRANGE | Nothing like adding a little Mean Green to your roster in May. Auburn signed two transfers from North Texas this week in wide receiver Jyaire Shorter and linebacker Larry Nixon III. Both could potentially step in as starters this fall. "Jyaire Shorter, I think, is a deep ball threat,” said AU coach Hugh Freeze. “He’s proven he can go get the ball. He gives us some length and catch radius that we need for what we want to do offensively. "Larry Nixon is a tackling machine. He was either All-CUSA or led Conference USA in tackles. It was above 100. I think he’s a great addition to us also. We’re real excited about both of those guys.” Shorter caught 23 passes for 628 yards and 11 touchdowns last season, averaging an FBS-best 27.2 yards per reception. The 6-foot-2, 218-pound Shorter had four catches of more than 50 yards last season. Auburn’s receivers totaled just two in 2022, both by slot Ja’Varrius Johnson. “I'd like to see that. I'll take that right now,” said Freeze of the explosive plays. “If we can get him 20 catches and 10 of them are touchdowns, that's pretty good. Hopefully we can get him more. I got a message asking about the post. Simmons is looking good. Has added muscle and strength in the off season. He has worked on his shooting 3 pointers alot. He will have a lot of open 3's in this offense.

Russian player Mark Tikhonenko is playing ball in Spain. Arkansas State transfer Jahmiah Simmons is playing in Virgin Islands. Larry Wise is looking to be a very solid recruit and could get playing time early. Team will be heading to Rome on August 12 returning from Florence on August 22. They will play four games, three of them against lower level professional teams and one will be against an all-star team of Italians trying to land a spot on a pro team. This should be of benefit for team to develop chemistry.
