GMG Report: Scrimmage Notes 8/19
Tommy Gadberry replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
From @DallasGreen Chandler was recruited to be the starter, he will be the starter. I like Earle as far as hustle and running ability, but Seth never used him due to arm strength. No D-1 experience like Rogers. Earle is a great change of pace backup, but he is not capable of consistently moving the ball vs Berkeley. Rudder May have an arm but he is way too slow -
4 teams from AAC agree to leave?
Tommy Gadberry replied to Tommy Gadberry's topic in Conference ReAlignment
I watched a video with a regents member at WSU interviewing their president. I thought their president was very honest in his assessment. He said they will no longer ride on coattails. They will make their own decisions and that includes being in a conference where they can win championships. And it has to happen quickly. My thought is it os either AAC or Mountain West. Edge to AAC due to contract and they disrespect the Mountain West. But it could go either way honestly. -

What makes me sad is if our NIL had been performing as it should have we wouldn’t have lost him. Sucks -

Man I am super glad yours was that way @untcampbell but darn-it mine was not. Guess we will just agree to disagree. -
Dennis Dodd: UTSA coach Jeff Traylor will win 12 games (again), win a conference title (again), all while riding star quarterback Frank Harris to a New Year's Six bowl. To make it symmetrical, the Roadrunners will beat defending conference champ Tulane and then face 2021 AAC champ Cincinnati -- now in the Big 12 -- in that New Year's Six game. Traylor will then depart to become the next coach at Texas A&M after Jimbo Fisher is fired following a 7-5 season. Tom Fornelli: SMU will win one of its two road games against Oklahoma or TCU as the Mustangs will appear in a New Year's Six bowl. read more: https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/aac-expert-picks-2023-projected-order-of-finish-bold-predictions-championship-favorites/amp/

Dis these people just take the name and start something new? Cause I tried some at Eastside and it didn’t taste anything like the original, in my opinion. Plus the Tomato was all about the ambience. -
With the AAC having already lost UCF, Cincinnati and Houston to the Big XII, there’s fear from some fans of the 14-football playing schools left that the league could see others poached, and the conference weakened. But with the Pac-4 not having a television deal solidified, the Mountain West Conference having an exit fee of $34 million per school, and the American Athletic Conference offering more TV money (more than $7 million annually per school) than the MWC, the chances of a school leaving the AAC for a league not named the ACC, SEC, Big XII or Big 10 seems unlikely. “I’m on the phone daily, making sure I have a full grasp of what is going on nationally,” Gilbert said. “Then I also am certainly keeping the chancellor abreast of what is real, what the discussions are, and financially, where everything is. I feel we’re in a good place right now.” read more:https://247sports.com/college/east-carolina/article/ecu-football-aac-jon-gilbert-conference-expansion-american-athletic-conference-214318419/amp/

#1 no question

Also not a small issue is Then there is the not-so-small case of the Pac-12 owing $50 million to Comcast due to overpayments. That will count against the bottom line. so if they made the Pac go bankrupt and joined the AAC would theybstill owe Comcast that money? That in itself might be reason enough for them to close up the PAC shop!

This could possibly create leverage to get the AAC to vote to dissolve the conference and get the majority of the schools to merge with the PAC
