  1. Any idea how you guys compare to UTSA in terms of budget? I know most of our fans would like to bring you guys in the fold. I keep hearing that UTSA has no money and is doing it with smoke and mirrors and was interested in your opinion on that.
  2. No. He has a 5.4 million dollar buy out so I assume that money would be deducted from whatever he gets paid in his new gig. He is an interesting guy to consider as he has been around some big time talent whilest at UT and perhaps could be convinced to come here for less money due to his buy-out. He wasn't terrible at Texas but they require better than what he could do. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rodney_Terry
  3. Good for him. Any idea where he is going?
  4. Good thinking outside of the box here @C Rod! I really do like the idea of Frisco although it will probably never fly as a total relocation I do think you could be strategic about having some of your games there and building on the growth and support available there. I have given up on Denton businesses, as they are some of the cheapest small time thinking people on the face of this earth. I do think that UNT is less of a commuter school than it used to be. That said, students will still bail on weekends to do things in the big city of Dallas and DFW in general and they always will. The problem with NIL as it stands today is you get more bang for your buck giving money to facilities where they will put your name on the building if you give them enough. NIL seems to be a black hole. Also, when they move Nil to the AD in July, I do understand that they will offer tax deductions which currently most do not do. So I see NIL becoming more attractive in the future especially if you want to field a winning team. UNT has a built in advantage due to our enrollment. With revenue sharing we can generate a lot more dollars in house through student fees and the general fund than we could ever do with private NIL funding. So I would expect that the UNT budget for revenue sharing will be somewhere in the 2.5 to 3 million dollar range and that could be increased if the leadership decides to put more of an emphasis on it. But you are absolutely correct, NIL is driving everything now and it should be our focus!
  5. I would at a minimum give him an interview.
  6. Robson would be in our price range. According to this article he is making about $400K a year. I think Ross was making $750K. https://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/2024/11/what-kind-of-new-deal-is-coach-daniyal-robinson-receiving-from-cleveland-state-terry-pluto.html

  12. DENTON, Texas — The UNT women’s basketball team earned its first victory in a national postseason tournament since 2019 with a 78-67 win over UT Arlington Monday night inside The Super Pit. The Mean Green improved to 25-8 on the season, adding onto the program record for wins in a season. It was also the 16th win in The Super Pit this season and 11th straight home win, which ties the third-longest home winning streak in program history. UNT was able to overcome a slow start behind a balanced offensive attack and aggressive defense that forced 25 turnovers. “It’s a blessing that we get to play this time of the year,” head coach Jason Burton said. “It’s another opportunity to play with that special group of women. We came out a little rusty, which is expected when you don’t play for two weeks. The response we had in the second quarter and the contributions from across the board was incredible.” Kyla Deck led North Texas with 15 points, with 10 of those coming in the second quarter alone. The second quarter proved to be the difference in the game as UNT outscored UTA, 31-11, and had a 20-0 run during the period. The stretch began with an and-one play from Shadasia Brackens combined with a technical foul on UTA’s Zoe Nelson. The Mean Green quickly poured it on in the quarter to take a 46-27 lead into halftime. UNT’s 46 points tied the highest-scoring first half for the team this season. Brackens finished with 12 points and nine rebounds on the night as she nearly captured her first career double double. Desiree Wooten and Ereauna Hardaway added 13 points apiece, while Tommisha Lampkin scored 12 in the win. The Lady Mavs went on a run of their own in the third quarter, cutting UNT’s lead to 62-57 heading into the fourth. However, an Achilles heel from the conference tournament was a strength for the Mean Green Monday night as they knocked down 27-of-32 attempts from the free throw line, including 10-of-11 in the fourth quarter to seal the game. Monday’s win marked the first WNIT victory in four attempts for the North Texas program. The Mean Green will head to Troy for their Super 16 matchup on Thursday, March 27 at 6 p.m. CT.
