Good job Coach Hodge, let’s keep it going! Repeat… -
Participation in any tournament is an obvious yes, more practice time will make for a better team next year.

Worst call of all time? Yes.
Cooke County Kid replied to Glory to the Green's topic in Mean Green Football
I lived in Austin at the time. I went to the game watched them rob us on the last play. I watched the sports on channel 24 and Hugh Lewis the sportscaster just shook his head. -
They are classless…

NIT Bracketology (2/16/24)
Cooke County Kid replied to Glory to the Green's topic in Mean Green Basketball
You have to look at the NIT as a bowl game, you get to keep on practicing, which is a good thing. As long as you keep on winning you keep on practicing. It can pay dividends for next year. If we can keep on playing tournaments we become a recognized name and a reputation for great defense and recruits take notice. I believe we are getting established as a basketball school which is a good thing. I prefer football and we can keep working on that, the AAC has some good basketball schools as well and we need to compete in all sports. GMG BEAT uab!!!! -
It is a Great arena, when it is rocking it is something. I have been at a lot of games there, from the SRO, I sat on a step at the top, SMU game, to Depaul with my Dad, to La Tech and Texas Tech. I also had to register for my classes there, my first time to the Super Pit, on the floor it seemed so big.

He has done an outstanding job and will be missed. Thank you for your service and good luck in the future!

The ramp up to the split of SEC/Big10 from G5
Cooke County Kid replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
At first blush if they are not careful, why wouldn’t antitrust issues arise? Seems like they are definitely colluding and they want to set something that has a price/value for a product… -
NORTH!!!

My daughter graduated from Tech, they always jack up the hotel prices for anything that was related to Tech. It is ridiculous.

I’ll be there plus one. These games are great, exciting!

Top 10 Super Pit Crowds of All Time per Zac Babb
Cooke County Kid replied to Dannymacfan's topic in Mean Green Basketball
The largest three crowds are 1977, 1976 and 1980. Two of the opponents were “local” and one a big national opponent with a marquee player, Mark Aquire. NTSU in 1980 had about 18,000 students. Why were we able to get large crowds then, we were winning and that was the place to be. It was fun, a great environment. Currently, we are in a really good basketball conference with regional opponents. We are good and are beginning to get reputation as such. Keep winning and they will come. Just think in our new 6,500 seat arena we would have turned away nearly a 1,000 fans last night. GMG! -
I just read their fan board and they were full of praise for the game, our team, the super pit and our fans. It was surprising to say the least. If we can get 2 K or more of our fans to go to the game at Moody we can show them how to neutralize a home court advantage!

We have multiple must win games this season, the most important game is the one we are playing now and then come Sunday that will be the biggest must win and on and on. We need to win them all. GMG!

I am pumped, first big game at home of the season against our hated foe! In 1977 I sat on the steps at the top of the Super Pit and witnessed one hell of a basketball game. I am ready for a repeat! I will be there with a bunch of buddies, some who were there in ‘77 but this time in a seat!
-
This will be a tough game, we are still down two starters and we are still winning. If we can win this one today we have that Dallas team coming to town next week if we get back Rueben and Buggs by then and we can just keep on stepping. GMG

Is winning the AAC becoming realistic?
Cooke County Kid replied to Tommy Gadberry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Last night they shot 60 something percent, that won’t cut it. I’m not sure if Temple missed any free throws. In a tight game that is often the difference.
