  1. True. But with SDSU's departure, it changes the landscape a little.
  2. This is why programs are making changes earlier and earlier. The conventional "let em finish the season" approach can be very costly for the next guy. Js.
  3. I didn't click on your artcles. I read in my own research that Memphis is right at 1.8 with SL. Temple and Navy pay higher, as I stated. I didn't think about UTSA. SMU and Tualne is speculation. UCF will be gone. So, 4th. I'm not in denial about anything. I'm juat stating that SL salary is high now, and even if we keep the new guy at the same pay (which I don't think we will), it will still be a competitive salary that demands results.
  4. What benefit would it be to pay more to Tulane, Tulsa and SMU? It wouldn't. You think Bloomengren at Rice is gettin the mack truck backed up to his bank account too? So, again, he's right even or slightly higher with a lot of AAC coaches as it sits right now. Temple is slightly more and Navy pays well. So. SL, with the future big12 programs removed puts him right around 3rd. New coach, if it's a name guy, will probably be in the 2-2.2 range and that will put whoever it is near the top.

  6. I think this needs to be done anyway. Be proactive, not reactive. If I'm the AAC commish I'm pitching to Co State and Air Force today. UNM as the alternate if the other backs out.
  7. Again, redact UH, Cincy and UCF from that list. Ole Seth Littrell would be doing alright for himself.
  8. Skip. Holtz. I mentioned him. You neglected to acknowledge. There are others. Once UNT starts taking flyers, applicants will pour in and there will be no lacking in qualified candidates.
  9. After you remove UH, UCF and Cincy from that average and we're actually in the AAC then we'll talk about expectations.
  10. Mrs. Littrell, your husband has had a decent run. He's the longest tenured HC in the state. Yet, he has put nothing in our trophy case. I'm sure you guys will land on your feet. Call Mrs. Dykes down the road, I'm sure she can help your husband get an offensive analyst position. We appreciate your husbands efforts.
  11. I'll take recently fired Skip Holtz in a heartbeat. Could get him for under 2 if we're being realistic
  12. Some measuable goals... 1. First and most importantly... top 4 conference finish in recruiting in every cycle. 2. Be bowl eligible by performance standards most years. 3. Win bowl games. 4. Compete for conference championship appearances. 5. Win the conference. 6. Be a face of the program that permeates an exciting energized, and fun program. This and 1 will often times go hand in hand. 7. Run a clean program. 8. Graduate your players. 9. Beat SMU with some regularity.
  13. His % and picks. So, basically, his minimal understanding of the game (,X/O=lack of coaching) or lack of accuracy. Your pick. His 1 constant characteristic is his lack of consistency. But, doesn't really matter. He's not doing great. Not doing terrible. Has shown tremendous growth this season due to his other seasons, but that's relative. He is Seth Littrells Andrew MxNulty. Much better version of McNulty. End result, identical.

A few months ago I suggested to him maybe try being more positive when he was word vomiting his usual diatribe of UNT is a music school and only ever will be, the 17, money is a major problem, budgets, lovelace and SL are bffs, etc etc His reponse was he'll point out my negative posts.
  15. All I'm of the firm belief that UT is letting Sark hang around bc he's doing great on the recruiting trail, hauled in a daggum good transfer QB and RB this past class and has a lot of '23 gems. They see hope and future. We're sitting here in year 7, 8th recruiting class in triple digits and people still sayin 'BuT lOok aT WhaT SeTh hAs DoNe'. It's crazy. But, yet, here we are.
  16. I'll throw this out there as well... WVU just fired their AD. Change is a comin'. So, GH will be on the market as well.
  17. I think it's a safe assumption. Looking at the first UNT v utsa boxscore it's a miracle we didn't get hammered. No way we don't lose that game by at least a few touchdowns this time around, unfortunately. If I looked at a box score blind to any game and saw that, I'd assume a 2-3 TD game. I'll never blatantly root against UNT, but don't call me looking for a shoulder to cry on if we drop the Rice game.
  18. Future optimism. And it's not be placating what I KNOW will happen over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again because of trumped up reasons of A-B-C and X-Y-Z. But hoping for change to be made with an understanding the reality and the probability of our future realities if said change isn't made.
  19. WB certainly has a checklist of needed accomplishments at this point in SL's tenure for WB to retain SL. A number of games needed to win. Bowl eligibility. CUSA champ appearance or win. Bowl win. Recruiting ranking. Etc. Etc. There's no telling what's all on that list. But the moment he can't mark off at bare minimum 51% of them, he needs to be fired regardless of what it's before.

  21. I see 5 programs (not including UNT in that 5) from this list that would chance the risk of hiring Deion Sanders as their next HFC and 3 of them would make things difficult for UNT... UAB, USF, Charlotte, Ga Tech and Colorado. None of those 5 are in Texas. Ga Tech and Colorado would be difficult places to win. IMO, USF would be the best opportunity for him from that group. They offer a lot of the same resources that we do though their facilities are not on the same level as ours. And, again, USF is not in Texas (where I believe he wants to be). I think, as it sits with current openings, UNT could sway him to Denton in the event we have an opening.
  22. Hey, heads always high. Chin up, eyes straight. It's the only way I know how to roll. But, that's also me looking at longevity and not the here right now.
