Outside of him teaming up with Jimbo Fisher to run an absolute inept offense at ATM, no reason. Also, since he's been a HC the game has changed in a tremendous way. Can he recruit at an extremely high level. Takes a lot of energy, committment, and consistency. It's never ending. Seeing him here and there on TV he looks beaten down. It's not the energy this place needs.

That's all true. But, I think Smastrek is going to do his homework. I suspect a named hire. I really think this will be a homerun hire.

I will say this and this should probably have a pinned thread dedicated to this... We're going to have a lot of 'I told you so's' next year due to the probable record that UNT will have. Pitt is after Shorter. Actively recruiting a rostered player. He hasn't had time to enter into the portal, so the guy had to delete the tweet and wait for his announcement into the portal. Amd absolutely nothing will come of it and they will probably nab him. The portal rules, or complete lack thereof, is an utter joke. Obvious speculation. But an account with 12k followers tied to Pitt recruiting doesn’t post that out of the blue. It's all such BS.

Is he for real?

1. Raised expectations. Without expectations, administratively and from the fan base, might as well set the place on fire. 2. Ran a clean program.

He's a good coach. Poor game manager. Poor recruiter. Poor face of a program.
