  1. Please, please... Hire a HC that emphasizes recruiting as THE number 1 priority of his coaching philosophy. It has to happen. We are too small and too slow. We will continue to be too small and too slow if we don't hire a HC that views his success through the lense of recruiting success. We can't drop the ball on this.
  2. It's not about him doing 50 in home visits. It's about him, imo, not having closing ability for marquee recruits. It's about him not overseeing an excelling recruiting department. This hire has to hit. This hire has to have the ability to recruit at higher levels than what we're accustomed to seeing. Fuente basically held the recruiting at serve wherever he went or regressed. Not sure we can afford that, literally.
  3. We don't need another DC with no recruiting responsibilities. Hard no thanks.
  4. HC has his tentacles in everything. If he didn't drive recruiting home it's because he chose not to spend the time and commit his energy in and with that department. It ALL falls on the HC. He's either coaching it or allowing it.
  5. Fuente appears not to be a hungry recruiter, likes to be an offensive wizard, couldn't consistently maintain a developed QB, and has a vanilla personality. Any of this sounding familiar?js
  6. Cmon fellas. Clamp down, close it out.
  7. Thank you for your insight. Did he recruit well?
  8. Seth was relieved in the late hours of Friday or Saturday morning. It's only Tuesday. Option 1 could have already said no thanks and they're working on option 2, or option 1 could have accepted and they could be ironing out details. We're not that far along.
  9. That's ideal. But for whatever reason or another, those are unicorns or working at blueblood programs already.
  10. Naw. I demand results first. Secondly, I know the personality of Marcus Trice and how we will be a recruiting magnet. Patrick Cobbs, playing resume or not, has done a great job. He is also a great advocate of UNT. They have built-in interest for UNT (not career advancement) and they will/have do great jobs.
  11. Then that, or whatever. Don't matter, as long as he's in green and has a very fruitful recruiting territory assigned to him.
  12. I stated this earlier. Recruiting coordinator + coaching capacity. Coaches must be hired on their ability to recruit, firstly. MT would be a solid addition.
  13. Patrick Cobbs. If our new guy sends him packing he can go ahead and escort himself out.
  14. I want a recruiting animal. Not an X & O wizard wannabe. Those x & o "prophets" typically have an ego about recruiting. As in it doesn't ultimately matter what kids they land because of their wizardry. Give me a recruiting machine.
  15. If gas funds are a problem with that, I will gladly swing by and fill up a couple vehicles on a bi or tri annual basis. Easy. That's a pretty weak.
  16. Again, I'm talking to who I'm being steered to. But also to who I want. You can do both without waking on toes and fracturing very fragile egos.
  17. I'm dabbin up coach and appreciating his input and I'm talking to players he's pigeon holing my way all the while explaining to him I have me a job to do and I'm here to do the full job.
  18. Seems risky. But the bolded would be nice, though he doesn't have G5 experience, he does have KU experience. I'd have to hear things we as fans would never hear, like an infrastructure plan and a recruit plan. But if he knocks those out and is passionate then it's worth taking a look. I'd dictate for him (and anyone) to keep Cobbs. I would strongly recommend Trice as recruiting coordinator and some coaching capacity.
  19. That's great. Talk to player Y. Thank that coach for the "heads up". But also satisfy your business being there.
  20. What you are saying is 100% accurate. Also, what you are saying is 100% dated. Not dated as if it doesn't happen, but dated as in we don't need HS coaches to inform us of their top, mid-grade and low level talent. We should know names, top to bottom, and skillsets before even stepping foot in the school. I know if not organized properly it can be leg work, but every school in a ___ mile radius of UNT should be dropped in on during every recruiting period/cycle. Even if there is a player of interest or not. Guyer - Argyle - Ryan - Braswell - LD - Denton High- Sanger/Krum - Aubrey/PP - Rock Hill/Prosper Go get on a name basis with a couple coaches at those places and show face with some regularity.
