I feel for our basketball team. Tough loss, great year. Nevermind that... Over the last 2 or 3 years we heard nothing from our athletics leader while our football team played uninspired ball. Several, including myself, kept asking for athletic director communication. However, the vast majority were under the impression that diming out an active head coach from the AD is unprofessional, and 'wHaT wOuLd iT AcCoMpLiSh', etc etc. Just way too much, frankly put, unheralded confidence. But AD's do put out statements and it happens often. Many times it's the only form of communication the director has with the very large portion of any fan base. Nonetheless, no other than utsas AD came out and put out a statement reassuring her fan base..

2 terrible starts to both the 1st and 2nd half. Valiantly battled back both times. Dug a hole just a little too deep. Great effort, though. #GMG

Gotta get it to single digits before the under 4 or it's a wrap.

Better start whippin the ball around for open looks from 3. We won't win a bucket battle vs them and our defense has failed us. Gotta extend the D and pick the ball up at halfcourt to force their pace even further. Pretty much everything we don't do, gotta start doing to win this thing.

Was that a mascot pun?

Normally, I would agree. Players like Jelly typically don't let oppoents climb back in. When he's agressive and knockin shots down, he has national poty talent.

Well, not to be a debbie downer... But it's clear that Walker's mission is to clearly take his POY award back with his play on the court. With that, you think we'll host an NIT round again?

Don't like this pace at the moment.

These 2 factors play a bigger role than many like to realize. As well as streaming services. Steaming services are uncontrollable. The 2 former points are. Also, 2/3 of CUSA has similar pulling power as the bolded opponents. I don't care how the team wins. Just win. I like gritty, defensive minded basketball. It's comparable to the flex in football. It pushes down attendance, sure, but results are the #1 driving factor. As for opponents, the AAC will bolster basketball attendance more than football attendance, imo. So, we should see an organic uptick. The athletic department doesn't do enough to captivate their own campus, let alone the community. There is definitely a lot of meat on the bone.

Good post. As far as NIL, we have to ask ourselves a difficult question: What would the football team have to do and how much would that cost in NIL to garner this much attention and success during this 5 year basketball run? My answer is: I'm not sure it's financially attainable. Would we be sucking resources away from basketball? I know this is Texas. I know football is king. I know that we can't, even for a moment, think about slowing down our basketball momentum for anything or anyone Conclusion: The mack truck has to be backed up to the basketball operations' budget. I say this year after year, but in this era it regins truer by the day. It's more affordable to create and maintain in basketball. Seize the moment.

Well, it is. Guess this program will never but where we want it to be, which (spoiler) it won't. Our best yr in a decade, we were rewarded an ass beating by Troy in the NO Bowl. Before that, we beat UNLV in the HoD Bowl. Given our stature, these are our awards (bowl/opponent) in our up years of recent. Best case scenario: We play an underwhelmed non-chalant P5 team in a NY6 bowl. Though as fun as that may be, it's not meaningful, because G5s can't sustain. And it's, without saying, never going to lead to a P5 conference or natty. To add, we will struggle to get to bowl eligibility. So, not only are prices getting juiced, they're being juiced to watch a pedestrian product. It's gouging.

Memphis, sure. The other 2 hold no value. -
That's awesome of you. Good stuff

No. We need 6k empties around the 1500 in attendance for that 1 game every 10 years where 7500 are there.
-
Would be the norm in a nicely done 5000 seat arena. With this product, the AD could choose their price point. Js. Great time, great run. Let's do business in Frisco.

UW and Oregon will join the big10 for peanuts, as was probably the big10s plan all along, timing.
-
When has a men's or women's basketball game met 7500 in attendance? Less than a handful? A very nice 5k seat arena will create an awesome atmosphere which would push demand thus driving sales and pricing. If our current product was playing in a 5k seat arena the last 5 yrs profitability would be doubled up. More bodies at a much higher price

Big scoreboard > empty 2nd level bleacher seating If you take away our scoreboard (and if decent suites aren't added to the athletic building expansion) we might as well ask the local high schools if there is room for us at CH Collins. It's basically the same facilty at that point.

I'm never a fan of gouging a loyal fan base for more money when our teams play in a football stadium 2/3 filled (at most) and a basketball facility that rarely touches 50% capacity. Again, this is why we need smaller facilities.* Environment gets far superior and demand goes up. Otherwise, just disgruntled fans paying more while sitting in an echo chamber asling yourself why do I do this. *if a new bball facility is built, it can only be 5k at maximum. * rip the wing out of the football stadium and put the big scoreboard there when they start renovating.

I liked Carlos Harris the player. How could you not? You could visibly see the chip on his shoulder from the stands. He had to play that way. Undersized and overlooked. As for Carlos Harris the person, I do not know him nor will I act like I do.
