2024-25 MBB/WBB schedule news
NorthTexasWeLove replied to Matt from A700's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I'm not looking down my nose at anyone. But if you want to lock in an early schedule, ACU type trips will do it. I'd rather us stay patient and play "up" or play similar opponents that align with the AAC. -

We can do women's basketball stuff and send our guys to Abilene if we're just trying to hurry through the process. -
Why are we playing Wyoming?

Attacking every home game with their "connections" and "strings pulled" should be a part of the job description in terms of attendance. I don't care if the opponent is Sanger High. -

Source: NCAA presents tournament plans for 72, 76 teams
NorthTexasWeLove replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Of course, majors can be .500 and mid-majors will need to be 28-4 conference tournament losers for an invite. Last year, we were the lone exception. Once the field is expanded to 76 or 80, there will be .500 at-large teams in the NCAA tourney while .900 mid-majors pray for an NIT invitation. They are intentionally swing the pendulum further and further away and no one does anything about it. And as I've said before, they (g5 admin/coaches) don't do anything about it because they're cowardly and don't want to blacklist themselves from their next hopeful job. -

The obvious result of this will end with standard will be dropped for the major programs. .500 overall teams might start getting in. The media will spin it and yak about their "daunting schedule" and so forth and so on. It will all be normalized, just like the 12 team cfb playoff. It's all for them. -

I completely disagree. From my experience, behavior and manners often run parallel with academic achievement. Regardless of socioeconomic and demographics. Show me a poor/middle class/wealthy kid with good behavior and manners and I'll show you a kid that probably achieves in the classroom. Show me a poor/middle class/wealthy disrespectful kid and I'll show you a grade casualty. It ALL starts at home. Money and resources don't matter. -

Needs to happen tomorrow.

I agree with the bolded without any hesitation. I agree with mostly everything you posted. The "student"-athletes want their cake and they want to eat it, too. Not really how life works literally everywhere else. Won't last.

Maybe. Probably 5 absolutely terrible p4 that we would legitimately compete with. For good measure, 91st? Yeah... the fastest way to complete irrelevance.

I like them. Wear the throwbacks on homecoming every year as it fits the theme of homecoming. Outside of that, that's it. Quit changing. Cement these.

First, higher education is subsudized by the government to/for the poor in the form of pell grants. Second, it shouldn't be. Kids in middle class families who "make too much", but can't afford to send their kids to college have the only avenue of high interest loans. Yet, poor families can get those subsidies and attend virtually for free. For all, or for none. Since, I believe my tax dollars should not be for all, then it should be for none. If middle class kids have to go get handicapped by loans then poor kids can, too. To get back on point, the moment any athletic department cuts a check directly to an athlete, student athletic fees are voided and should no longer exist. -

Women's basketball moves the needle approximately 0%. Any AD's mission is to have team(s) success, build upon facilities, and fundraise. I am not going to look at women's basketball and chalk that up as athletic success. Yes, Burton was a good hire. Woohoooooo. And, just like that, I'm over that success data point of the AD. Where are we in the AC expansion? Why wasn't more pressure put on ridding our DC? Oh, that's right, because Mosley agreed to a 2 year deal for him at 400/per. Men's basketball, though not Mosley's fault, took an expected step back. Football seems to be a blackhole sucking the resources from the athletic department. You can prop up Burton as proof of Mosley's success as our AD. I will not. -

Yuuuup. And they wonder why no one takes them seriously. It reads as basically, "trust us, we're trying, just give us more." -
Reece Mooney and Stone Earle could be gone too

Not his fault he had that opportunity. That decision made by a one Eric Morris cost us that game and a bowl.- 102 replies
