  1. S16 appearances are sometimes off the basis of matchups. I think we have talent and good coaching. All I ask for as we head to a new conference, a pretty savvy basketball conference, is that we maintain our competitiveness while continuing our march to relevance.
  2. Damn. Better start raising that student fee to the going AAC rate. We gotta up the game. I still have nightmares of our light tan lockers and corporate ceiling tiles.
  3. Terrible idea they have but fitting. It's a microcosm to what's happening to the pac. And to comment on the guy you quoted... once wash st, Oregon st, cal and Stanford aren't riding coattails anymore no one will care about them.
  4. So preliminary figures are 20M. That's assuming 5 more don't go. 0 shot it stays even half that once both AZ schools, Utah, Oregon and Washington bolt. Given they all ignorantly stay, the Pac is dead at 20M. They relatively already don't support athletics in donations (NIL included), attendance or eyeballs. They won't have the means to sustain and linger around with even the AAC or Big12, not to even mention the top2. I can't find a scenario where people that have options aren't going to exercise those options as fast as possible.
  5. Don't care at all what it's called. I care what the university is raking in.
  6. Nationally recognized compaines with a national reach would garner more money for the right to have their name plastered all over one of the largest freeway intersections in the state of Texas. My bet is we will get something similar +/- than what Apogee paid for naming rights. 12 years later, that doesn't bode well. Given a formal announcement has happened now and zero mention of what the financials are tells the tale. It's lazy. It's the "hometown" thing to do. It's small minded. If the University of North Texas legitimately exhausted their options, did a nationally search and DATCU was our best financial offer then so be it. God help us, but so be it.
  7. A local small business is great for advertising around the concourse, etc. What it's not great for are naming rights. I have to assume they will try to keep the specifics bogged down for as long as possible. It feels lazy.
  8. I'm not sure that stabilizes anything. The eyeball draw to the pac12 has always been USC, UCLA, Oregon and Wash. Everyone else associated up to this point has simply been the benefactor. You take those 4 out, at minimum, how are they going to dictate terms to TV executives? IMO, they're not. They will scrounge for peanuts like the rest of us. If those 4 leave AND the 3 remaining four corner schools, that's a wrap. The conference will 100% fold.
  9. Oh, great. So now we're relying on the city of Denton.
  10. There is good news for us. This is the best AND most likely scenario once the dust settles.
  11. It means nothing. None of it does. And you know that.
  12. The NCAA determines nothing. The media did that.
  13. If the 4 corners leave (which they will be) and when Oregon and Wash leave there will be no payout. That's the very root of the problem they are facing out there. There is nothing left that warrants any TV revenue.
  14. I'm glad you're no longer living in delusion. You've accepted the fate. You are walking the 5 step process. Now, you're living in fantasy. The MWC would absorb those abomination of programs, not vice versa. And the crazier part of this, I'm sure all your brethren think and believe very similar than you.
  15. Revoke that? Whaaaat? Autonomy and "P5" is literally a manufactured term with no legal or meaningful connotations. Everything else you say is pure speculation.
  16. Well, for starters the PAC isn't going to be a thing anymore. In this scenario you are believing that Washington state, Oregon State, Cal + the likes of Fresno, Boise, CoSt, etc is greater than Memphis, ECU, UAB, UNT, UTSA, etc. And on the surface, it may appear that way until you come to the understanding that those PAC leftovers aren't brand programs, they don't bring eyeballs and they have been P5 in name only riding the coattails of real programs. Once their tag of worthiness is inevitably removed you are basically sitting in the NW version of the AAC with significantly higher travel costs across all of your sports.
  17. I think you're trolling at this point.
  18. Absolutely. And that's the issue with the hesitation of getting a deal done. SC and UCLA are concrete gome. They aren't even being mentioned in these negotiations. Oregon and Wash are trying to be served up as a part of negotiations, but tv execs know they're inevitably gone, eventually. TV execs also know the Big12 is after the the 4 corners and these TV execs know they won't/can't offer big12 money. This is a calculated hesitation. My money is still on the pac12 not existing in the somewhat near future. This can mean business for the AAC. Aresco should already be sitting at negotiation tables with 3-5 universities. The AAC can really position themselves into a premium conference these next 2 to 3 years.
  19. Lol. Wow. You were literally in denial just last week of everything you're acting like you're in the know about now. It's amazing.
  20. They gotta stop that. Don't step a foot on that slippery slope. We are the Mean Green and we will always be the only Mean Green. I don't care if it's a tee ball team. Put an end to it.
