  1. Pound for pound, SDSU is the best athletic program (major sports) on the west coast. With 30M+ a year in a TV deal they could be dangerously competitive in everything.
  2. I think it will be a more competitive version of CUSA. No small markets and no significant amount of dead weight, not to toss a stone in a glass house.
  3. Very true. If the douches do leave (smu/tulane/memphis/usf), I would love to get Army and AF. Host the president cup games as conference games and have the Navy vs Army game as The American game of the year hosted by the American conference. Snag app st and James Madison. And I think we'd still be better off than cusa as it was. There is a way to still be better. And given that our dude is Aresco and not Judy is d somewhat reassuring.
  4. Oh, I'm not doomsday. Best case scenario Aresco gets the pac4 in the AAC with higher cuts for them and eventually us for football and basketball only. And that could very well happen. Worse case and most probable, cusa 2.0.
  5. I know this has been thrown around on here before, but we need to let the state come together and just pull in the same direction. 10 FBS programs. Round robin format. Top 2 play for the trophy. Greatly attended games. Great TV. Huge rivalries weekly. Ticket sales, concessions, merch, tv deal, etc would all be fantastic for everyone.
  6. This is just a word. That meaning of that word will prove to be fluid. By fluid, I mean they're going to let that stay put.
  7. Aresco lost his best. It looks like he might lose his next tier of teams. He is about to be the commish of the legitimate cusa 2.0.
  8. Lookin more and more like we're about to be f'd. Best case is to watch the pac or whatever take smug, Tulane, memphis and usf. Then take the beat of the rest of the MWC and the belt.
  9. 0 shot in hell they let them hang onto it. That's why it's completely irrelevant. Those 4 conferences mentioned will use the media (their TV partners) to rail them while normalizing their irrelevance and when people take a seat at the table again they're toast.
  10. Then it's basically a worse version of the NCAA basketball tourney selection committee. Dolts rewarding teams for losing vs their "strong" schedule instead of rewarding winners.
  11. The media is powerful. If the media wants the PACs importance and influence to dissipate, it will. No stamp of relevance will ultimately matter.
  12. This is probably the path of least resistance.
  13. Meh. At this point who knows. The mwc programs can't go unless theyhave take 6 or 7. Those remaining 4 don't want to be associated with those nearby universities that they have looked down upon for decades, let alone 6 or 7 of them. Stanford goes indy. They'll have to scale waaaaaay back on sports offered and spending, and given their typical support good luck with all that. That leaves 3. Wazou, or st and Cal. They have 0 national pull. Just not sure what to make of it at this crossroad.
  14. Dudes got some hardware and ad plugs to be as goofy af as he is. Everything that has been rumbling behind the scenes for months came to fruition. From here, I haven't heard or read or listened to anything to suggest what will happen next. I hope this guy is right.
  15. I'm not sure MWC schools are in position to pay the fees to leave.
  16. Alabama doesn't have to. We better start taking parts of the 1970/80s FSU model into some consideration. They played whoever, whenever and started turning heads as they started winning those games as an independent. They forged a place for themselves. I recommend us needing to play the very best G5 teams we can schedule and the very best P5 home and homes we can snag. I wouldn't be heartbroke if we did a roadie P5 game here and there as well vs what is considered winnable programs. But what we're doing is sort of settling into our place in the fake pecking order and putting flyers out and being content with whoever calls back. That's not really the way to do this.
  17. That's meh. If we're deadset on these type of H/H then go get ULL, Co St, AF, SDSU, etc. We're playing the least interesting programs from these 2 conferences.
  18. It goes from 34M to 17M after '24 I believe. Still a significant amount even after being cut in half. Pair that with not knowing what a new conference deal would look like it's unlikely the MWC schools budge.
  19. Sure. But even in their decent years they can't make an oversized stadium even look reapectable. Point is, they deserve nothing. They haven't committed to their facilities and they haven't had any success of note in anything.
  20. Have you ever watched a usf game? Attendance is no bueno.
  21. Aresco better start trying to pry co st and AF. This has turned into a game of the fittest. Start stealing from them before they steal from us.
  22. This implicates them as worthy. What have they done? USF has been dog water in everything since the early 00s. I don't think either usf or Memphis own their football stadium and I believe both are off campus. Memphis certainly doesn't their basketball arena. And smus only grace is their money and their consistency to inconsistency. And smu hasn't accomplished a single nationally relevant thing in anything. Yes, Memphis has pretty good basketball... being played in an arena not near them. They made their bed.
