I have no idea, but I have realignment fatigue. Just get it done, whatever it is. Here's to the best.

No shot it's 70 schools getting the big money. That's what it is right now. One would think a lot of dead weight will be trimmed and we'll see 40 (20 in SEC & 20 IN BIG) programs getting the big money. Whatever is made of the leftover ACC will try to do some kind of patchwork job similar to what the big12 has done. It's Tier 1: sec/big10 Huge drop Tier 2: big12/some sort of raided ACC conference Proper leadership and decision making can get the AAC into that 2nd tier. Otherwise: Tier 3: AAC/MW Tier 4: Belt*/MAC/CUSA *The belt could easily play their way into tier 3, but they'll have to play their way there.

Don't sleep on Liberty. I wish we wouldn't. They will fund and fund and fund and fund until their success is undeniable and people have to take notice.

Our QB? Just over 3 weeks left

I get that mindset and for all positions across the board, I agree. Except QB. If you can have a good year followed by a great year out of your QB, you do that. Net QB play isn't something we can just assume. Now given we were just told Ruder has 2 years of eligibility, seems moot. Play your best. I still stand by if it's taken this long to name your guy with a transfer portal in the position group, it would leaning towards the already rostered player. That's just me though. -

Based on the fact that the staff brought in Rogers off of game film to be THE guy. They get here and are starting to like what they see in person in Ruder during the Spring. They stop the crowning of Rogers as THE guy and let it bleed into the Fall so they can cross their T's and dot their I's. -
Inevitable. SEC swipin Clemson, FSU without doubt. Possibly Miami. They'll go after UNC and possibly Duke to kake them whole in basketball. I know the Big10 wants Virginia and will probably nab VaTech as well. At this point does Penn get their cronies to block Pitt? If not, Pitt will be in. The left will be stranded. GoR is tight and they're all just standing around staring at each other eaiting to see who figures out how to break the clad. The rest will follow suit and the SEC and Big10 will be there to gobble up what they want.

Aresco doesn't need to wait on cal and stanford. Piss on them. Go snag oregon st and wazzou immediately. This is not about being the best. Sec/big10 have that covered. This is about fielding exciting and competitive athletics that position is to be a part of that next tier. Whoever snags those 2 will be considered better, and rightfully so. It's imperative the AAC is the conference that gets them.

Very true. If you're trying to split hairs to name a starter always go with youth. At any level. -
There most certainly would be a TV deal. 100%. A nice one, too.

If it's truly a battle then that has to favor Ruder. -
All valid points. But I think Aresoc is trying to pull Or St and Wazzou and if the other 2 follow then great. If not, we still have ORst/Wazzou. It's a conference upgrade and it pedestals, without doubt, the AAC over the MWC. Then in 2025/2026 the AAC will be positioned to go snag some combination (2-3 tops) of AF/SDSU/CoSt/UNLV/Fresno. Money goes up. Competition goes up. Relevance goes up.

Yes. Again, ridding smu, Memphis, and Tulane is not the end of the world. They are making what will lead to lateral moves, imo. There are better athletic departments sitting out there. Look no further than Army, JMU, and App St. I'd entertain ULL as a 4th addition if Rice does get swiped. There is a way to better from this if this scenario happens.

Does realignment make the Cal game even bigger?
NorthTexasWeLove replied to bstnsportsfan3's topic in Mean Green Football
I think they may, too. Not sure what kind of longevity that will create for their usually poor performing revenue sports. Going indy isn't terrible so as long as a plan is in place for winning and dictating eyeballs. But them going now would be sporadic, unplanned, and out of arrogance. Could backfire in an ugly way. -
AAC Preseason Projections
NorthTexasWeLove replied to NorthTexasWeLove's topic in Mean Green Football
Given Harris lost his favorite 2 targets, the increase in comp and the results of last year outside of simple W/L, they could drop 4 or 5 in the reg season. I will say, I was never of the mindset of rooting for conference mates with any sort of passion. Sure, I hope our guys win OOC, but whatever. Now, with the changing landscape and UNT having a chance to be a part of the upper echelon I feel as if it's imperative for our guys to win in OOC and to have 2 or 3 rise above three fray every year. -

Maybe. Doubtful. Academics, political views, morals, ethics, etc. are no longer cards in the deck. It's money, potential future money, eyeballs, potential future eyeballs. That's it. Further, the PAC12 made a colossal mistake not getting into the state of Texas when they had an opportunity a decade ago. I'm not sure the 4 remaining universities can walk away from that opportunity again. -
The fans. Our national success in OOC and bowl season would be the variables to create national exposure. The money would be made. This would full stop at UT and ATM. Egos too big. Feelings too sensitive.
-
Of course it is. But imagine the matchups and the energy throughout the state.

I just wanted to open this convo about how nUTSAck had a very good season last year. I also want people to keep in mind that they: Beat Army by 3. Beat WKU by 3. Beat UNT by 5. Beat UAB by 6. Beat UTEP by 3. Lost to Troy. It's not very often you pull all of those off. And they're skating by like this with the best team they've ever had with their generational QB. And I'm not throwing stones. I'm just pointing out that they could drop games like this in this upcoming season vs better comp. Media is trying to pedestal them..they're beatable and I think will eat some L's this season.
