  1. If Cal and Stanford joined the AAC the AAC would be a top 3 academic conference in AAU affiliates. Them joining would put the conference at #3 behind the Big10 and ACC. It would bring the total to 6 or 7 AAU institutions. There's really no place for them to show academic elitism at that point.
  2. Yeah, it's for sure wild. But also something no one has really hit on yet, if our best case scenario on the table happens I see season tickets and donations getting a boost. After the 2024 season I see an even bigger boost, as well as a boost in university applicants.
  3. In his defense he said that so many AAC programs could easily perform at the P5 level with a 25 million dollar TV check a year.
  4. I don't know, but if it is it rightfully should be. The future of UNT athletics hinge on Notre Dame shutting up, Florida State staying put, and Mike Arescos negotiating ability. We could spring forward very quickly or melt back down into a SUNBCUSA 3.0 scenario just as quick.
  5. Guy is straight up being an smu mouthpiece. And truthfully, guy is aged out. He can hang it up.
  6. Some media mouth posted on twitter that the ACC will be meeting again tomorrow. I'm sure that's what he's referencing.
  7. The Army at UNT game in 2017 was a top 5 attended game in DATCU Stadium history. The service academies draw eyeball. They draw more eyeballs when playing verse each other.
  8. They have top 15-20 nationally viewed games when they play each other. That's kind of a big deal.
  9. The ACC will never be able to pay them. What they're going to get do the SEC and they know that.
  10. But the issue is that TV executives are bascially telling the ACC that they're capped out. IOW, what they're really saying is that Stanford and Cal is not enough to replace the inevitable departure of FSU and Clemson to the SEC. And that's the hopeful version.. Big10 gonna be lurking around the corner when that happens to pluck. The value is not there.
  11. I knew it. Also, no. It's going to A4. Then, A2. The A4 will happen as soon as those elbow running cronies can get together and make it official. The A2 will be after the implosion of the ACC. Then we'll have exactly what no one wanted except the people privately lining their coffers with TV money, the NFL developmental league.
  12. There technical wasn't a "vote". More along the lines of a formal informal, "ok, guys, if we were to vote who's in and who's out?"
  13. I believe it was 3 or 4 short, had they voted. I read 8 of 14 say yes, and the magic number is 12. The issue is that the one's that want out of the ACC have no interest in doing anything for the ACC or on behalf of the ACC. They've been barricaded inside a dying conference, and I don't blame them.
  14. I think we get it. You want to see UNT in CUSBELT 3.0, but no rendition of the PAC will hold onto their A5 status. No chance. As in 0%. Other commissioners, notely the most powerful one of them all Greg Sankey, has said exactly that. It's getting dropped, only a matter of time.
  15. Precisely. ESPN isn't paying money to a 4 member conference.
  16. That is a viable option. One I hope does not happen, but could.
  17. They would get more if they came to the AAC. It's a clause in the TV contract with ESPN that if the AAC becomes more valuable then Aresco has the right to reopen negotiations. Our cut would probably stay the same for a temporary amount of time, but the value of the leauge would increase and therefore those new additions would get bigger cuts.
  18. No shot. They would have to openly associate themselves with universities they loathe out of the MWC. I don't see that as viable at all. Not to say we're a better option (though we are financially and academically), but we're comparably the unknown option to their fans, donors, and alum.
  19. Hard to tell the difference.
  20. If nothing else, this will give those douchebags to the south of us a taste of reality. They now know their place in the pecking order. And it's pretty funny watching the reports roll in of them literally running all over the country begging for assurance, acceptance.
  21. The AACs is twice the amount of money 8 vs 4. If they jump in the AAC there is a clause that the AAC could repoen contract negotiations. Monetarily, the AAC is clearly the better option. It always was.
  22. I would have to guess that's the long game. The short game is to secure 2 of 4 PAC, at minimum. Then in 2 years go get AF, CoSt, SDSU and Boise. That is, without doubt, Arescos dream scenario he is trying to orchestrate.
  23. If they go, we can go ahead and stop playing them. With NIL they will always be a step aheas of us. They will usually have better players. We travel to their place. They bring no one to ours. What is the value of keeping them on the books? Lazy scheduling methodologies? Get them off the schedule. 0 upside.
