  1. We are a learn on the job university. Give the guy a break. He's only making $39,583.33 per game.
  2. I'm not taking that job, man. Sounds like a failure of a place.
  3. If we beat smu?....
  4. But what if there was a job fair 5 months before the sale season started?
  5. We literally can't be worse. We are the worst. Nowhere to go but up. And, no, eff all the fluff. It's deeper than talent. Players have a proven unwillingness to go get at it. We are showing 5 man boxes on medium downs over and over and over like idiots. We have been out of position at all 3 levels every game, countless times. We can't cover. We can't or refuse to tackle. And in situational D&D I don't know wth it is they are even trying to do. This is a bad hire. If not fired, it will be a bad hire in year 2. I think it's time to just agree that the guy wasn't ready. It's brutally clear. 40mothaphukkin a month. It's insane.
  6. No. He needs to carry his stuff with him and not come back to Denton.
  7. He can't unless he sits or graduates. As another poster said, it's why recruiting the portal is advantageous. It actually creates roster stability, oddly enough. He has been very good for us. Good football player.
  8. I figured that was what you were getting at. If Caponi is under a 1-year contract as most assistants are, UNT can afford it. The money has already been lost. I still have not seen the details outside of his contract outside of the pay. Surely sue we aren't dumb enough to give a 0-year experienced DC a multi-year deal. To respond... 1. It sends a message to your clearly disinterested fanbase. It also gives Eric a head start to find a real DC that runs a real system. 2. I have no rebuttal to this, as I understand what you are saying here. What I can say, and the program has already been mentioned, is Alex Grinch. He was lugged around by Lincoln Riley from OU to USC. All he did was provide his head coach terrible defenses at both places. Lincoln was far more patient than I would have been, and for no good reason. The question is, and some fault of this should be placed on Eric Morris, how much better can we possibly be on defense next year? We don't have the players, I keep hearing. From my outlook, we don't have players that are willing to stick their nose in it for their DC. We have players. We have unmotivated players playing in a poor scheme for a coach that they don't believe in that's in a system they weren't recruited for. It didn't have to be this way. Case in point: Tim Beck is the new head coach at Coastal Carolina after Jamie Chadwell was hired away by Liberty U. Tim Beck is not a spread option/triple option coach by any stretch. However, Tim Beck knows who his players are. They have been transitioning to Tim Beck's offensive system while keeping a lot of Jamie Chadwell's spread option in place, particularly when it gets to crunch time or key situations. Tim Beck has been able to set his system AND ego to the side and make due with what he has and play to the strength to his players. Seems crazy, right? Well, they're 6-3 and currently 2nd in their division behind nationally ranked JMU.
  9. What does that have to do with it? Many aren't saying that it can't be done. They're saying it shouldn't be done. Why?
  10. You are correct. Morris was the cheap route. The Texas State leftover route. As for what type of coach we need to hire, I alluded to that in another thread. We are constantly pushed around up front on both sides of the ball. We were out athleted under McCarney, but rarely pushed around. That's because he believed that winning is inside ---> out. And he's right. Seth Littrell and Eric Morris say that physicality this and physicality that, but they believe, per their offensive and defensive schemes that winning is outside ---> in. We need a coach here that believes that it starts up front. OL/DL has to be prioritized over wide receivers and safeties in recruiting, and heavily. Not, "hey if you're 6'4" and 270 hit my DMs." That's ridiculous. Go get the highest rated OL/DL that is available at the AAC level. No excuses. Play complimentary football. Pound on people, spread people out, take your shots, pound on them some more, go tempo, slow it down, give your defense rest, take some more shots, pound on them some more. Since Seth Littrell, we have been the nail. Too many programs we face are visibly bigger than us and obviously stronger. Offensive philosophy doesn't win games. Players do. Defensive philosophy doesn't win games (unless you're sitting in a 3 man front on 3rd and 2 like a dodo bird), players do.
  11. Have you seen tons of them? Not sure how they roll out of bed, nevermind walking.
  12. With Air Force losing and Tulane probably going to drop a game, Fresno will more than likely go to NY6 if they keep playing well. In my world, that's hardly disappearing.
  13. The edge is set in space by smaller players in comparison to a 4-3. You're putting poor tackling and undersized players in space to set the edge while LBs guess behind him or are on skates.
  14. It's almost as if there isn't a way to combat that. Only if... you know.
  15. Recap: It's mind boggling. I don't know. I'm angry inside. I'm going to talk to defensive coaches. If you know how to fix it email me. I'll listen to anybody and everybody right now. That's it. Yay us.
  16. And a lot of people wanted Seth gone for 2 years for not putting a trophy in the trophy case. Competition is better on a week by week basis, and by that is only marginally better. The difference I see in Seth Littrell and Eric Morris is not much. Seth got blown out too much and couldn't win trophy games. Eric isn't getting blown out at the same rate, but will not be playing for a trophy in the near future (this yr and or probably next). Seth played for a trophy in year 1, granted with the help of academic success from the previous regime. We can peel the onion all day, we have Seth Littrell 2.0. I'll go further, and possibly due to the level of competition increasing, Eric Morris will be fired with less than a .500 record. By that measure alone, production, Seth Littrell will be the better of the two. What we need is a younger version of Dan McCarney that hires a fun OC and keeps his hands off of it.
  17. I expect a very Seth Littrell score vs smu, 50+ to 20ish. More things change, more they stay the same.
  18. Yes... his name is Mazin Richards. We play him in stealth mode, out of position and outmatched.
  19. Yeah... Elaborate...
  20. He was hired December 13th. Had from them to the spring portal. Basically said no thanks. This is the result. Not sure what it is with North Texas people bending over backwards hear after year after year to defend a poor North Texas product. Make it make sense. I'd be more understanding if someone got on here and simply said it's year 1, let's see what year 2 looks like. I don't like that mindset, but I at least understand it. For every excuse posted on this we website, there are 2 or 3 major flaws associated with the excuse.
  21. Not sure what the bickering is all about. Our defense is awful. There isn't anything anyone can say to defend that. This is a result driven business. Caponis results are awful. Given that, he's got to go. There is no defending it. He is worse at his job than anyone else in the country, literally. It's indefensible. I have faith that Morris will do what's right. If I'm wrong there, eff it. We're a basketball school anyway.
  22. Players are not in position. That is not true. The edge of our defense is exposed all. the. time. We have zero leverage to the football. Our linebackers are guessing or having OL in their face instantly because of said front. The release in this front is too easy for opposing OL and that's a large reason why it's never successful vs the run.
  23. ...I would like to get the pulse of our fanbase since our athletic department won't or doesn't really care to.
  24. You can't do that as an AD. Sets a terrible precedent. The AD has to hire people that you trust to make the right decisions in hirings AND firings. And if they prove that they can't, have to fire the hire.
