If the team is stating they haven't heard anything and SL actually does have the job in hand, it would't surprise me if SL requested the KSU admin to keep it air tight until he can announce to his team that he is leaving. That's the only 'hush-hush' that makes sense if in fact he has the job.

Oh, good memory we had there. I also recall tough and disciplined Seth Littrell coached UNT teams being pounded on every time we play a physical team. Those were awesome. -
2018 New Mexico Bowl Info on Utah State
NorthTexasWeLove replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Difficult to say. Maybe, maybe not. We might get into a 4th and 1 situation and run a double reverse pass for a 80 yard touchdown OR we might get into another 4th and 1 and run a slow developing power play. We'll have a better idea what kind of hold SL actually did have on this offense if he does leave and doesn't coach the bowl.- 46 replies

Becuase if he wants to win, like really win, he'll need to leave his bible at home. By that, he'll have to do things he typically wouldn't have to, ethically. And if he does go that route he will have some guys on his team that 1) don't give a damn about what he says 2) Are putting in their time to make millions 3) don't give a damn about what he says. There is still nothing concrete that puts him actually in Manhattan, KS outside of an interview. Even then, that interview is taking place in New York.

It's what he does. Should come as no surprise. A little gypsy.

I liked that time he gave up a 28-0 lead to Old Dominion and lost. Or with Bowl elegibility on the line vs 3-9 UTEP lost 55-24(?)-ish...UTEP. Or lost a conference championship game by 5 touchdowns, but improved from the 7 td massacre from the same team earlier in the year. I liked that time we best 1-11 UTEP by 3...like 3 weeks ago or a 3 point win over 3-9 utsa...2 weeks ago. I like that time we got hosed by Troy in our bowl game by 3 tds. Just too many to keep up with. Enjoy. -
We hire Neal Brown. We make it known around the country that UNT football is serious by plucking him away from Troy for 2M per with a 3 mil buyout clause. Get. It. Done. As for Littrell, psh, bye.

Not many. But his UNT legacy would take a hit, or so it should.
-
Maybe. But I saw SL/GH run Mason quite a bit in a lot of different scenarios like with no knee brace on, 1 knee brace on, 2 knee braces on, no stitches, 7 stitches, not concussed, concussed, 180 pound lb power play, 4th and 1, etc.

True. Buts kids renig allllll thhheeeeee tiiiiimmmmme. SL may recruit MF for a 2nd time. I doubt SL would do that to the UNT fan base, but let him open the cabinet in Manhattan...he may rethink it.

Wren saying yesterday, "We don't want to be a place that hinges our success on one person..." or something thereabouts was pretty telling.

New Mexico Bowl is the best C-USA option!
NorthTexasWeLove replied to ipd054's topic in Mean Green Football
Yeah...I guess. But it's spinning reality a bit. If they beat us they will definitely end up in both coaches and AP. Maybe we can blast them and take their spot.- 15 replies

New Mexico Bowl is the best C-USA option!
NorthTexasWeLove replied to ipd054's topic in Mean Green Football
It was a good post. To point out again, Utah State will not be a ranked team during the games broadcast. ESPN places a ranking beside a teams name via the CFB playoff ranking. So unless the casual fan is a poll Nazi, which I highly doubt, not many people will know they are 23rd in the coaches poll.- 15 replies

Maybe, maybe not. I have no idea. I do think at this point it's safe to say SL is without doubt a legitimate candidate for this opening. Whether they offer him or not, we'll find out soon enough.

Other Names Linked to the KSU Job

Dan McCarney? Pssssssstttttsssshhiiiiiitttttt. Dude a bum. -
Those are good programs and bad seasons* or being sidetracked are anomalies. We are a bad program with a good team. Therefore we have to take full advantage in hopes to turn us into a good program. Have we taken advantage? An argument could be made for both cases. But a 9 win season makes UNT fans happy. It still doesn't change the perception of UNT. Exhibit A: KState fan perception of UNT. *Those programs you named won 7, 8, and 9 games. Unfortunately, most UNT fans would accept that as peak performances. Those 3 programs in comparison, will not.

Wren Baker: Bowl Press Conference
NorthTexasWeLove replied to NorthTexan95's topic in Mean Green Football
Yeah, he is. But that doesn't fall into the criteria of his job. He's doing a good job, and I don't mind the stammering through pressers (or the pretty good jokes). It sort of shows authenticity, and I like that. -
True. Nothing we can do. EXCEPT for to never stop talking about it to insure that it never happens again, ever.
-
Very true. This has been our achilles heel, and it has been the least recruited areas for Littrell; in both quality and quantity.
