Will Kuehne named 1st Team All Oklahoman QB
NorthTexasWeLove replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
This will be his 4th class. His first class he had about 8 weeks to assemble, and it's not his worst class to date. -

Not so sure OU gets cleaned out. I think they compete in that game. Bama's weakness is its secondary on defense. OU can and IMO will exploit that. Now, OU's D leaves a lot to be desired and if Tua is right Bama will drop 50 on them with no problem. -
He'll be fine. Hamstring injuries can linger for players like Rico or Jamario. Their position requires explosion and the hamstring in an intricate part to that. Fine will probably sit during Spring Ball or throw limited and will be 100% come Fall. He will have a full 8 to 9 months of no contact and taking care of himself to get it right.

Final Thought On The New Mexico Bowl

ABQ is cool, but New Mexico is a dumpster fire of a state. Desolate garbage. They are obviously clueless and needed to be throat punched. -
In hindsight, SMU and Arky wins gave us false optimism

We got blasted 52-13. I think people can say whatever the hell they want. If we have commits bounce it won't be because of posts...it'll be because of that 52-13 blasting in the first sentence. -

Meh...GaSouthern went 2-10 last year 10-3 this year. UCF when 0-12 the same year we went 1-11 and they're rolling on 25 straight. There are so many other scenarios like these 2. We use our past as a crutch because it's all we know. We find something to lean on and we lean on that bitch with allllllll our weight. We get people that wear green sunglasses that a shade of green so dark they can't seen out of them. We, on this very same board, had people defending Dan McCarney AND RV tooth and nail until the very, very end. Now, we obviously aren't in that same predicament, but the same mindset is still well and alive. Content with 9-4 when 12-1 was EASILY there for the taking. Getting pounded on in big games. And the excuse remains the same...'Remember the 1-11'. That's nothing but an absolute pile of bullshit. Steamy, hot bull shit. -

Yup. It'll happen. The woe is me SL can't do anything bad crowd will most certainly still bring it up. I think both Emmitt and now Harry have mentioned 2015 in their state of the defense posts of the bowl game. -
I was listening to this game on the way back from NM yesterday. He's gotta rid that fumbling issue, and if he does he may have a nice career.

All I am saying is that we can't compete with these teams because 1) his recruiting has not been good enough for 3 years 2) We are not a physical team. Had his recruiting been decent then we may have been able to go swing for swing with USU, Troy, 2017 FAU x2. But it's not. And people were pointing just that out in class 1, 2, and 3. But the rah-rah bunch with developmental BS on the mind came running to the defense. When you have classes ranked 8,9,10 in CUSA for 3 years running, you get beat on when your system can't overcompensate your talent like we saw Saturday and several times before.
-
I was referring to this years bowl, last years bowl, last years CUSA champ game, last years opportunity to clinch CUSA champ game hosting rights, etc. The big games...the one's usually seen from coast to coast.
-
Fact of the matter...the team had the talent, even with subpar recruiting for 3 years, to be 11-2 this year...Maybe 12-1. This team, in comparison to our current peers, was an 11-2/12-1 team. Our coaches put our players in bad position to win in at least 2 games, and an argument could be made for 3 games. The expectations were not met. The standard of talent we have was not utilized in game. We let 3 teams snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. This. Is. On. This. Staff. I don't care about 1-11 in 2015. All I know is what I saw in 2018.

And even on short term his first class was on par with classes 2 and 3....Actually, one was slightly better than his first class and one was worse. Recruiting up until this class has sucked. Let's put the sugar down.

It doesn't. Collapses are on coaches. All 3 conference losses we were the better team. Vs USU we were not. We are not 39 points worse than USU though. MF has a bad play caller he has to play through. But for the staff not to get creative with the run game when we had to pull Fine was a mistake. They just kept with the game plan with inexperience at QB and it resulted in an embarrassing blowout. That's on coaches. When are we going to throw in jet sweeps, outside zones, sweeps, etc. We run 2 variations of the same exact run play over and over and over. Good defenses will stonewall Jackson that bs to the tune of 2.9 ypc like yesterday. -
Final Thought On The New Mexico Bowl
NorthTexasWeLove replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree with Rick. Good event, great hospitality. I've always enjoyed Albuquerque and this was no different. Also, UNM has damn nice facilities. The Pit, their baseball complex and football stadium would all be top 1-2 in CUSA, easy. -
He has 1 good recruiting class yet to sign. We are getting pushed around by more physically imposing teams over the last 3 years because of the inability to recruit at a high level the first three classes. So we just tip our hat at this class coming in while trying to make amends for what took place yesterday, last December, this year vs Tech and UAB. When the simple and clear answer points to the first three classes. Also to note, philosophically, we're always going to be a soft, finesse team. It's no fault of SL, It's the coaching tree he is sprung from. Yesterday vs USU, or any team like a 2017 Troy or 2018 UAB, will be a bad match up for a SL coached team. That is all.

Positive things from the New Mexico bowl game
NorthTexasWeLove replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
To piggyback, met some NMSU alum that live in Albuquerque and come to this bowl every year. They took my wife and I to dinner after the game. Silver lining I suppose...free meal...to compensate the waste of money the bowl game was. -
I guess the downvoters don't think recruiting is the staffs job and they enjoy the curb stompings. Very well.

While all true...but when is enough ass whippings enough ass whippings. Year 4, 5, 6? While we can blame poor talent and recruiting classes....We just can't shrug with manila statements in we don't have the talent, because that is a burden of this staff as well. The nationally televised embarrassments have to stop.

I wasn't referring to you, at all. You are level headed into reality. But the same suspects will jump on the 'remember 2015' next year when things get weary...almost like the Alamo or something.
