2018 Player Adoption Thread
NorthTexasWeLove replied to MeanGreenTexan's topic in Mean Green Football
This has been my dude since his freshman year. But you beat me to it. So, I will roll with his counterpart, Roderick Young. He's moving out to his natural position in the 3-3-5 and won't have to bare the weight of double teams all season. Expect to see him explode this season! -
Kelvin Smith HAS to be utilized more effectively this year. It's an absolute wasted talent out there right now. He has soft hands, good routes, big body, tough to tackle, etc. He needs 4-5 targets a game to get that body in space and make things happen. He is an All Conf type talent being bottled up. But, yes, Darden is a special player as well. His time is coming, and I am not sure he will have a true breakout year until the sharing of the ball is minimized a little bit. IOW, he will probably have to wait his turn to have a true breakout year.

Being 6'5" with minimal meat doesn't bode well for breaking in and out of routes.
-
I would say 4th or 5th at his position. I liked his size, but he seemingly struggled to put on weight to really fill out his frame and I think that hindered his playing time. We are also a timing offense with marked spots to throw to. He was more so a jump ball/fade route kind of guy. So IMO his skill set fits a pro style type offense rather than a timing offense like ours.

The majority of our wins we have played in. Our losses, we looked like a dog chasing tail.

It's more than they beat us at the LOS. They out coached us. When Reffet thought a fastball was coming, Kiffin would throw a slider and vice versa. They also dictated their offensive tempo all over us, and pressed us on D using multiple schemes. We were out coached and out played in both games, but in my opinion more so out coached. They put their QB in great position to make positive plays. They don't just route tree their WR's and expect their QB to go through the progressions like a pro. They often dictate what their QB does with the ball on given plays more so than letting the defense dictate where their QB goes with the ball. They micromanage their QB quite a bit, because they have a strong running game and it makes their passing game lethal. It also eliminates tons of mistakes. But they don't just put their offensive players in the best positions to make plays, they have great defensive placement on the field with their guys.

North Texas has Arkansas Worried

True. But the vast majority of your team are 3 stars. I typically put stock in the rating system, and argue with people around here that degrade it as irrelevant. But let's be real in this kind of scenario, these rating services bump up SEC, ACC, etc. 3 stars in comparison to our 3 stars often times because of where they landed. -
The Von Erichs are returning to Texas - SMU Game

This does nothing for me personally, but I like the idea and attraction it creates for the people into this kind of stuff. Great job. -
Yeah, I saw this the other day when I went to go get season tix. They hadn't quite completely unrolled the the turf yet, but you could see the color. It's, uh, unique. Maybe when it's all unrolled and matted down it will look better, but the difference in the field color and endzone is quite different. Like, purposefully way different. Which reminds me, kudos to the fella helping us in the ticket office, Kyle. My grandfather-in-law wanted to get in on season tickets and had never been to Apogee before. Kyle walked us around Apogee to see the views from certain seats for about 30 minutes so my pops in law could check it out. He was personable and had answers for us for anything we asked.

Meh. Sort of, sometimes. They will have virtually no one from the 2014* class on the team any longer. So we'll start at the 2015 class... 2015 - 11th 2016 - 9th 2017 - 10th 2018 - 14th 2019 - 10th* *I didn't start on the 2015 class for the sake of hiding a quality class from the narrative. They were 11th that year. *Current recruiting class. They have a couple programs behind them that will almost certainly leap frog them before NSD. So this class could be anywhere from 11th-13th. So, they are recruiting SEC talent because their little logo on their uniform says they are in the SEC. But they aren't an uber talented team by any stretch. Nevertheless, this will be a difficult game because they have better and more athletic OL and DL than we do. And there truly lies the problem. I think we can give them a run and if we can jump early, we could run away from a vulnerable team. -

And if caught red handed doing so, they should be given a pink slip on the spot. -
I think the coaches do need to dictate pace more, like a anonymous CUSA coach said. Let's see a 2 or 3 10-12 play drives a game this year. Or even 9 play 36 yard drives that chew into the clock pending favorable situations for us. Some effective and sporadic tempo that dictates what we are going to be doing.

They are a cool addition, they are just priced too high in my opinion. People with money to spend are going to be the only one's to spend that kind of money on football tickets. And the view from the seats are not worth the money. They are pricing out the people that would be interested in them and putting them into the price range of people that will have no interest in them due to the heat, location of the seat, and view.

That's unfortunate. I would roll had the price been $650 all in. The value is priced too high. It makes no sense to go in at 1K a seat.

So, is the price 650 or 1K? if 1k, I'm assuming these are stadium donation seats like up in the club?

Oh sheesh...Wouldn't want them to depart 75K from their 1.5 million dollar salary. Poor them. -
I dunno, but if he tries to look any harder in his bio photo he'll start to turn into a stone goblin.
