  1. Beating UAB and La Tech (with a record crowd on hand) in year 3 with the best team SL will probably have while at UNT are not reasonable expectations to you. Got it.
  2. Because he's basic. He has token phrases he slings around ad nauseam. Either way, we have to be better fans and be happy damnit about our 6-0 record vs 16-26 competition and concede to the mighty Blazers of UAB. Let's disregard what our peers are doing after shitty seasons. Not relevant, because we're lil ole UNT. Let's not mention last years 2-10 Georgia freaking Southern now being 7-1 and probably soon to be ranked under a new coaching staff. And the endless other references I could pull. We're UNT and we have to maintain futile expectations. It's who we apparently are.
  3. At UNT - 26,392 - 86% capacity and top 5 attendance in the history of Apogee.
  4. It's true... 1. It was a top 5 attended game in Apogee history I believe. 2. It's a guaranteed TV game. Like actual tv, not stadium or Facebook. 3. And when Army is good, like they were last year, it's an attention grabbing W. 4. It also garners national media publicity more than any other opponent. An Army game does more for the program than any other conference opponent we have. Army is a national brand.
  5. Well Navy is playing there in San Diego tomorrow in a neutral site game vs Notre Dame. I agree. As physically tough of a game it may be, it's not a series you just walk away from. Play the series out and be done with it. It's a marquee game for fans that as proven gets excitement up and butts in seats.
  6. We're playing for bowl games. But what do bowl games really mean? If not much, what does a CUSA championship really mean? If not much, why are in CUSA? Last season FAU's end all took a lot out of my sail. Very solid team with 10 straight wins with a CUSA 🏆 = bowl game vs Akron which leads to a 50-3 rout if I remember correctly. Then watching the success of UCF, which is a dream scenario for any program in the country, and the utter disrespect they receive takes more wind out of my sail. We, media propelled 'G5' schools, are just wandering around in CFB irrelevance. The apparent glass ceiling for us all is to be #10 in the country and play a 2 loss big time program just to self proclaim as national champions. I know it's a debbie downer mentality, but until it's fixed it's our reality. And I don't like that reality. I hate it in fact.
  7. He's gone right when a top 40 or 50 'P5' program wants him. That equates to at minimum 3 mil per and at least the "possibility" of winning. But I don't think he gets a call this year. And if the defense is going to be a 30ish ppg defense next year as I anticipate, don't think anyone comes after him next year either. And in theory, most hot coaches get plucked within their first 4 or 5 yr contract. He very well may be a Skip Holtz kind of coach like MgNation suggested a day or so ago. I think the ideal situation for Littrell is for UNT to have a monster year in Fines senior season. I think I can say this with some level of confidence, if Littrell is here for the 2020 season, he will be here for quite some time. But he doesn't put his name in the Pandora box known as Jimmy Sexton without the intent of going somewhere. It'd be like renting a tux just to wear around the house.
  8. Well, that game will shut up Kirk Herbstreit. He was quick to write UCF out of the playoff and his reasoning was that UCF needs to worry about teams like Fresno and App St jumping them for the NY6 bowl instead of the playoff. I can say with confidence that UCF doesn't lose to GaSouthern.
  9. So, in short, we're wandering the desolate desert of college football irrelevance with no map or compass. Macro picture, nothing we do matters. Greed rules supreme.
  10. I agree. It speaks volumes about their QB. He's an absolute gamer in the highest regard. But my point to that is that multiple staffs can take a stud QB, which is eerily similar to Fine, and keep reeling off the W's after coming off a similar 2015 season as UNT.
  11. UCF, in comparison, has taken advantage of the best QB they have ever had and ripped off 20 straight under two coaching staffs. And yes, Milton is better than Bortles as far as college goes.
  12. Is that what happened? It's been stated Littrell was tipped off to go grab him while you can. Littrell still undoubtedly gets the credit. But I think there's more to it than Littrell watching tape until his eyes were bloodshot and ran across his tape in the dying hours of the night. I think I recall someone close to that situation posting that Fine sort of fell in Littrells lap. I have no idea.
  13. don't be a fact teller. They'll come after your character like they know you. Not mgtexan, but a lot of these other cats will.
  14. Yeah....or throw em in front of an iPad and let electronics raise them like the average run of the muck parents do. Or let them talk to people in any way whatsoever and at times even right in front of their parents with no repercussions. Or my favorite, hold their hand through every adveristy that hits so you will have 26 year old children living in the room their diapers were changed in. Ahhh yes, modern parenting. Friends first.
  15. I think it was said in jest hence the quotations. Then he referred back to the 12-0 statement which was made by mgnation, of which I agree with the thought process of. The great programs are great because they have great expectations. And nothing else is tolerable. But, as you were.
  16. 2016 was a crapshoot in regards to trying to figure out. But no team in this conference should strike fear into a player or coach. It's begging for a dominant program, and it's certainly there for the taking. A lot of very, very weak teams with poor coaches and no facilities. Low hanging fruit to take over this conference if there ever was one.
  17. The problem with your funny man post is that the predictions in question were mgnations, not mine. However, the sputtering of this offense apparently hasn't changed from now to then. So, yeah.
  18. Honest question, how long are we going to rehash the 2015 season? Until 100% of those players are gone? Or just when it's convenient not to? And just to let it be known, UCF went 0-12 the same year we went 1-11. Another winless season a decade before that. And 3-9's, 4-8's, and 5-7's sprinkled all in between. And when many on here were following the UNT program in the 80's, they were playing .500 football down in DIII.
  19. I don't want to see anyone fired for continuity sake. I would like to see more reserves playing far more at all positions once a comfortable lead is established from here on out. I would like to see SL mentor GH more. We've been watching awful situational play calling for 3 years now. I think SL needs to dictate that a little more and put his hands on it more. Honestly, I personally think he already is though and the result is what it is. But if he isn't, he definitely needs to be. We desperately need to see more secondary reserves out there. Maybe even throughout games sparingly as well and all game with a lead. We have 0 clue what we have behind MF either. Would like to see more reps from any of the qbs not named Shanbour. The time to really groom them is now, not Spring of 2020.
  20. There is no response to be had for this.
  21. Maybe not. But if we could put both teams on a neutral field 10 Saturday's in a row and had all 6 sides of the ball playing their "A" game for all 10 games I find it hard to believe UNT doesn't win at least 6 or 7 of those. I get it though, if ifs and buts were candy and nuts...
  22. Or just not lose to blatant lesser teams. We were the better team in our losses. The opposition had to scratch and claw while we simultaneously shit the offensive bed for the games to even be competitive. The way the games played out dictates we were the superior team. The verbiage needs to be we should be 8-0, not could be 8-0. Seeing double digits in the win column is still a goal I'd like to see happen. And I've only been following this program since 2012, but this is by far the easiest schedule I've seen. Combined opponent win % could be in the high .300's or low .400's by season's end.
  23. And we won't be playing on championship Saturday all the same. The years are different. Instead of 4th place in the West in 2016...OK, OK, I get it...we'll be 3rd. Yay us. Silver lining is the elusive 10 wins.
