I think it's quite the opposite...UH got played. -
I'm sure it was, I can't recall though. Wish these qbs would get rotation but we can't protect a lead and if we can SL seems to be willing to go through hell or high water to pad Masons stats. As for next season...Tougher schedule while losing some defensive play makers. Offense has to get it's 2017 mojo back because they may be in for some more heavy lifting in 2019. We need guys to step in and step up at LB and Corner without doubt. DL should be able to hold pat, but it'd be nice to have an unforseen guy step up and be a difference maker in that group as well. I think we have been underrecruiting the DL group and it may start nibbling on our ass in 2019 and then ripping chunks out in 2020.

9-3 is not "special". These type of comments are symptoms of the beaten dog syndrome. Just because we have had buckets of suck dumped all over us for decades does not make 9 wins special. Especially if you consider we went 8-1 vs a bunch of literal losers and 1-2 vs winners. 3 of our wins have 31 losses. And we played 4th quarter games with 2 of these in this special season. For us to get to 10 wins, I'm afraid we may need a meddling 6-6 squad from the belt or mac. And I'm not trying to be a debbie downing dick head. I just can't stomach calling the results of this season special. -
First game I've paid any attention to. Look at the schedule, can't blame me.

Good showing for 30 minutes. Filling the schedule with sisters of the poor makes any game like this overwhelming.

Southwest Conference Attendance 2018
NorthTexasWeLove replied to Cerebus's topic in Mean Green Football
I saw TCU and TT half empty on more than one occasion this season. As for some of the others, lol. Liars. -
UNT v. BYU in Dallas would be ideal given the rest of the scenarios. This would generate the largest ever attendance for this bowl and would make for an interesting match up.
-
No if...they will. And btw...I have no love for BYU. I just admire their decision to write their future instead of find comfort in their former current state.
-
Don't combine yearly schedules to make your point more effective. They have a schedule that dwarfs ours. And when they eventually put together a good team, which they will, they will be national relevant and unlike UCF will contend for a playoff berth...due to the decisions they made to better themselves. Meanwhile, we'll gloat over a division crown and statistics.
-
No..it's nothing to do with money. They aren't paying those schools a dime. And if they were still a MWC team they wouldn't have the room to make this schedule or the prowess to bring in some of those names. They made an executive decision to pull out of the MWC when they had a great coach in Mendenhall at the helm and never looked back. It was a GOOD decision and they are now kinda grouped into that P5 group because of the timing of their MWC withdraw, paired with timely success, and a great AD pulling the right scheduling strings in the background.
-
They were on national tv 2 nights ago vs a top25 team. Once BYU get a back to 8 and 9 wins you will see them more because they dictate their schedule and will be marquee games once THEY get better. Their schedule is great. Next year they host Utah, USC, Washington, and Boise while traveling to Tennessee, Toledo, USF, and SDSU.

Yes, it's miserable. I agree. Only because it's true. ESPN will be cringing for 3 hours on Saturday while our conference's CHAMPIONSHIP GAME is aired, and rightfully so. It's only a matter of time until that carpet is ripped out from under us too. We'll be Facebook streaming an FBS conference championship game in the very near future and no one seems to care. Just want to argue with the reality of it it seems.

No one outside UNT. I'll try to be more specific moving forward. Like no one will care about mtsu beating uab this upcoming Saturday for the cusa crown. It doesn't move the needle outside of CUSA campuses. And even then, most students don't really care...Or cusa and many of our HUGE university enrollments and alum base would be cramming into our tiny stadiums across the conference.

Problem...there are no quality wins to be had. Even if we beat a 10-2 WKU in the CUSA Champ game in 2020...No. One. Will. Give. 1. Shit.

Agreed. ATM has these refs on payroll, must. -
LSU is a 2 loss team currently in their 5th ot with a 4 loss team. That ain't happening.

Because regardless of what kind of success we may or may not have, our program and programs like ours are currently in an unsuatainable format to hold serve for continuing years. The fall of attendance and tv money paired with the rise of salaries and facility costs is not a formula we can maneuver through and hope for sustainability. That's why it matters.

Definitely. It's concerning.

Big12 is not overrated. It's rated properly. Though that has nothing to do with us and our current current situation.

***Official UNT vs. UTSA Game Thread***
NorthTexasWeLove replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
GH needs to kick rocks. He has proven to be a liability and not a commodity. No point keeping him around. Stepping on toes??!! Stomp on them for all I care. Offense regressed this year and I'm sure the metrics would prove that. Situational play calling may not be quantitative, but it too has slipped. -
Nix what I said...just remembered we were 9-3 after last regular season also.
-
We are sitting at a +1 improvement from season to season with a chance for a +2 improvement with the bowl game. Also a chance to get to 10 wins which IMO is a great achievement. Only a couple handful of teams throughout FBS hits that milestone each year. With that said, we have to be the weakest 9-3 team of all time. Our opponents have a combined record of 43-69. We had 3 bowl eligible teams on the schedule and beat one of them (So Miss). We have had 9 legitimate pushovers on the schedule and even managed to lose to one of them. CUSA has turned and turned quickly to a really, really bad football conference.
