The AAC has been quick to push their agenda onto the NCAA and viewing audiences. ESPN is starting to fall for the self proclaimed trap the AAC set. They are starting to be called a "power" league in a major sport by media outlets and pundits alike. There is no evidence of this happening in football, but if one sport is starting to get this kind of attention and respect one has to assume that all sports will start to gain the same attention and respect sooner rather than later. Their TV deal in both football and basketball far outweighs the likes of CUSA, MWC, SunBelt, and MAC conferences. These are supposed to be their 'peer' conferences and yet with their initiative to push their agenda, to add Wichita State as basketball only, and to have presidents and AD's to speak out openly has started to bring their conference full circle. Of course it helps their case having a 25-1 team being ranked in the top 10 in basketball and a 12-1 team ranked in the top 10 in football. But if we peel the onion back, the AAC has 4 teams with 19 wins or more. They also have every team with a .500 record or better except for 2 (ECU and Tulane), a per capita statistic that is only seen in "power" conferences. Michael Aresco since taking over the AAC as conference commissioner in 2012 has done a commendable job. But his athletic directors and university presidents have gotten on board with his vision and has helped push their narrative. Here is a recent basketball article on ESPN with "power" verbiage being attached to their conference name... http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/26025764/how-rank-top-seven-conferences-college-basketball CUSA really, really must push Judy MacLeod out the door and clean her house behind her. UNT, with CUSA, is being left in the wind yet again.

That area is good seating. We sit row 1 in 111.

Wby would he be put off by it. He was probably drooling over on the on deck circle himself.

Perfect. I agree with that 100%. And I'm 32.

Don't worry about downvotes. People are going to drop those regardless. Just keep thinking level headed, pro and con comments, and it will do far more good than harm. People on this board still supported McCarney and Benford tooth and nail until thr end. Take that for what it's worth.

Dropping facts like these around here will get people big mad. Carry on. You're deadly accurate, btw.

Well...looks like this season is just about done. Saving grace is we hit 20 wins before we really started sucking. Stepping stone season...Gotta get better players in here and coach has to coach and develop, but more importantly he has to start hurting some of these guys' feelings.

What to Expect from UNT offense in 2019

Score in 5-7 plays and there's no reason to even sub. -
The results will dictate if he 'killed' it. Anything further is pure speculation.

New Offensive Coordinator - Bodie Reeder
NorthTexasWeLove replied to dml7007's topic in Mean Green Football
That is not a RPO. RPO is typically a presnap option given to the QB, presnap, to count the box and make the appropriate play. Some gimmicky teams will flick it to a simple bubble after snap, but that's not the basis of an RPO play. -

Spread option plays, particularly a motioned 3rd option, in a spread offense is a very dangerous feather in the cap. Ask Urban Meyer, he won 2 nattys at UF doing it. -
Bill Connally has UNT FB ranked at #84
NorthTexasWeLove replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
And tbh half is probably a reach. There are maybe 15 teams with a shot at the natty, maybe. To add, I went through and counted natty champs and there have been 24 different national champions since 1945. -

I understand his S&P strategy, but it basically ranks all P5 opponents higher than G5 based on SOS. And there are not 65 P5 teams truly better than us going by a default arbitrary statistic. It just plays into the hands of more of the same BS. -

DRC needs to present a clear and present line between the two universities as well. One plays D1 whereas the other is like NAIA or whatever (who cares). And they're often presented in the DRC as peers. They're also supported by the Denton city council with their little pole banners, tour Denton community center, etc. as peer institutions. Which they are clearly not.- 61 replies

Area team's biggest unaddressed needs
NorthTexasWeLove replied to Philip Ferguson's topic in Mean Green Football
I know it's said that the DL is the most difficult position group to recruit. And there is probably truth to that. But the way to do it is volume recruit the best guys in that group you can get. Example, UCF signed 7 DL in this class...1/3 of their class was committed to the DL. They had 9 committed and wanted all 9, but had them cherry picked from them last minute and they back filled with a corner and a skill guy. So UCF went into NSD with the intent to sign almost 50% of their class being DL. Meanwhile, we signed 3. And the excuse will be when teams are whipping us up front that our system is made for shootouts, etc. Though there may be some truth to that, but the fact is that the recruiting staff and HC are not making this group a priority when it matters most, NSD. -
Looks like Bodie Reeder, EWU OC, will be the guy.

I can't give you a specific example. Can't say I archive his pissing on UNT. But I've noticed it over time. And he does put out good stuff from time to time. Not trying to bash Brett too hard. And it may just be the tone in which he writes that gets under my skin. But I think it's more than that. I think he does or used to have an axe to grind and he grinded it with subtle blows in his writing.- 61 replies

Yeah...Not sure who wrote that gem. I will say I have quit clicking on the garbage Vito posts on here. The tone and manner in which he writes pisses me off. I've commented it several times in the past to no change. So I just avoid his clippings.- 61 replies

Great crowd delivered by the Denton community tonight. Followed up with yet another nut punch. For the people always whining about attendance and not enough support from the community. Well, see why....great crowd vs LaTech in football an we get our throat slashed. Great crowd in a pivotal conf game tonight and we get gutted. So you peeps can simmer that down. Championship college basketball caliber crowd tonight and JV basketball. 15 points in a half. Geeeeez And for the love of basketball...bench Smart. Dude is 100% a liability.
