Sampson finalizes deal to stay at Houston
NorthTexasWeLove replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
3 mil a year in basketball is big time. Puts Sampson in the same category as some pretty savvy basketball schools and the 21st highest paid coach in CBB. Paid more than 9 SEC coaches. UH is trying to pay their way to primetime. -
‘20 WR Cedrick Pellum - Dallas Madison

It's not personal. There's a way to play the game without coming off as a diva. He probably knew he wasn't qualifying and wanted to play games. If you think you're undecided then don't commit. If you have an idea of your choices then narrow them down, publicly or privately. If you're ready to commit then commit. If you're not then don't. If you want to commit to make sure you have a help spot at X school then do it. If you still want to tread the waters, then take those phone calls. But putting yourself out on the internet as a $5 hooker is not the way to do it. It's not personal, it's annoying. The social acceptance of that behavior may be more annoying. -
‘20 DE Mitchell Tyler - McKinney

Yes, please on this kid. Great first step, nose for the ball and is flying around the LOS. Granted his HUDL are highlights, but his ceiling appears very high. -
Mason Fine gives USC reason to be excited
NorthTexasWeLove replied to Philip Ferguson's topic in Mean Green Football
And to me, it's not even the in shotgun on short yardage situations. It's the scheme of the plays that were called that doomed the offense in these situations. Counters, treys and traps are not a recipe for success against 8-9 man boxes on 4th and 1. But, what the hell do I know...I'm not making a million dollars a year to call plays at USC. -
Mason Fine gives USC reason to be excited
NorthTexasWeLove replied to Philip Ferguson's topic in Mean Green Football
If anything, GH should be cutting checks to Mason Fine starting on June 1st 2020 for getting him a job. MF and the offense did wonders in spite of GH sometimes. USC will see that in due time. -
Mason Fine has been a tremendous player for us throughout his time here at UNT. I am sure he will have a great senior season. With that said, let's not act as if this production under this system can't happen again, especially if you consider the talent level being put around whoever the successor is. Fine came in and produced very well with minimal talent around him in the early stages. His successor will have 2 fold the type of talent Fine first started out with. It's also worth noting that QB's in these types of systems put up numbers. It just happens. I expect there to be a drop off until there is some built in experience for the next starter, but I do not expect the productivity to be floored. And in no way am I trying to diminish what Mason Fine has done for this program and university. He's been a Godsend.

DRC: Spring breakout candidate No. 1 -- Jaelon Darden
NorthTexasWeLove replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
He's a productive player on this team. Unless you see 80 rec 1000 yds and 10 td it's not a breakout choice. And in his slot position that's going to be difficult not to even mention the raised difficulty when considering how defenses usually match up with our offense. Hadn't kept up with the list, but a TE should be at 1 considering how Reeder uses TEs paired with the talent level in that group and their low productivity in running years. -
We can laugh at Thomas Dundon for losing 70 million dollars today. A little blessing in disguise for MGN.

The AAC is a good conference. I think the private schools bring them down a little bit. Temple not really having their own facilities is an eyesore, and a few other blemishes here and there. But, overall, they're a good conference that has raised their level. They are a quasi P5 conference that sits at the apex of the G5 community. And their TV contracts state just that. They are night and day better than CUSA. AAC at its worse is better than CUSA at its best. It's the very sad reality that we are in right now.

Welcome aboard! Did I read somewhere that he's a 5'11" 255lb center?

In theory, yes. But UT and ATM share T.V. markets as well as key recruiting territory. UH is in that market too. OU and TCU share TV markets and key recruiting territory as well. Cal and Stanford. FSU and UF UCLA and USC The entire tobacco road conundrum...NC State, Duke, and UNC all within a half hour of one another. Then Wake Forest less than 2 hours away and ECU right down the road. WKU and MTSU 1 1/2 hours from each other. FIU and FAU 1 hr from each other. And there are countless other examples of this. So there may be a smidgen of truth to your statement, it is by no means an end all.

College football attendance lowest in 22 years?
NorthTexasWeLove replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
This tourney has been very much chalk more than past tourneys. So THIS years bball season is a poor example. Though what you're saying has truth to it, but we never get a Loyola - George Mason - VCU - Butler type moment in football. And as those moments helps bball ratings, one has to assume it would help football ratings. Also, Villanova winning the natty 2 of the last 3 is comparable to an AAC team winning the football national title or someone compatible. -
College football attendance lowest in 22 years?

It's unfortunate. The eyeballs to be unlocked is there for the taking, but they just want to accept the given % of eyeballs with the safe and proven formula. Rather than reaching and making a platform for all of CFB. But, hey, at least we know who's the back up to the back up of Tua. And we know Quinnen Williams' favorite song and Trevor Lawrence's favorite color. Yay us -
College football attendance lowest in 22 years?
NorthTexasWeLove replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
Sure. But this is unrealistic. This is how money is generated, TV space. The NCAA is not going to let anyone put their hands in their pockets for any reason. -
College football attendance lowest in 22 years?
NorthTexasWeLove replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
The lack of attendance is due to the lack of parity. There is 0 parity so why should there be increased interest. Over the last 10 years it has been boiled down to about 12 teams with a competitive advantage and real shot to win a national championship. Everyone else, including a large portion of the 'P5', have a minimal to 0% chance. The game has been monopolized with the help of the media. They push the brands that garner the eyeballs because it creates more money for them. How deep of an analysis have you heard mainstream sports media give of Indiana or Purdue? Wake Forest or Boston College? Arizona or Colorado? Vanderbilt or Mississippi State? Iowa State or Oklahoma State? The answer on any given season, season over season, is very little to none. -

Don't you have someone's day to go ruin? And yes, I doubted the 2018 defense. What basis was there to point to it being average? And even then, it shit the bed when it mattered most...vs LaTech and USU. Let awful teams push the ball such as Rice, ODU and UTSA. Or was I dreaming? And JD strokes this staffs ego at any and all stops. All I was saying was tread lightly with that. It can turn slippery fast.
