  1. Cal covers easily. Easy money.
  2. Defensively, there is a lot to be desired up front. We have not recruited all that well to those position groups and it is showing. I think it may be time to can the 3-3-5 as well.
  3. In large part, OL held up unless they were pressured vs SMU. There were way, way too many slow developing route combos last night. That has to be stopped, specifically if the D is playing an umbrella defense like SMU did last night and we kept running our stuff right into it.
  4. This is misleading. They are at SMU for a reason and that reason is not because they have P5 talent. It's an easy coping mechanism, I get it. But it's an easy excuse out of the curb stomping we absorbed last night. We were out coached. Mason Fine did not look like Mason Fine. And our defense is what I thought it was and what I have been warning people about for months, horrible.
  5. Kansas State feeling like....
  6. Absolutely. Kind of weird.
  7. It was indeed short. Rico had a step and a half on his guy to the point that the defender had to dive to swat down an under thrown ball.
  8. It's good and all, but many of QBs can do that with just a flick of the wrist. Not most or all, but many.
  9. After watching 430 yards get hung on our D by a very average FCS team I'd be optimistic as a SMU fan too. Losing this game would be a disaster.
  10. Agreed. It's a must win. 0 excuses to be had. I highly doubt we beat Cal or UH if we lose to SMU. It just wouldn't be in the cards at that point. After watching UH last night, I think our chances of beating Cal is greater than UH. King will run rampant on Saturday's UNT defense with minimal resistance. Cal at least has a relatively stagnant offense. Point is, losing to SMU in the current state of each program is absolutely inexcusable. @TheColonyEagle said it best.
  11. 24K. Split.
  12. End of the 3rd, latest. And as @UNT 90 Grad said, it's not all about when they pull him but more so how they are using him. And is there a need to have MF in the game in the 4th quarter with the score 48-24 and have him drop back and pass 8 times on a 4th quarter drive? That is 8 times for him to be sacked or 8 times for him to scramble or 8 times for him to be hurt in a game that is decided vs an opponent that has already been overwhelmed. All for a drive ending FG. It's just not smart football. If MF gets injured kiss this seasons aspirations good-bye.
  13. Good for UH. Not to sound ungrateful for the IPF that the school is finishing up on, but the former athletic administration sat on their laurels after Apogee was built in 2011 and expected the fruits of that to carry them to the top of the CFB hierarchy. Not quite how that works. The current administration is doing a grand job, but they have to stay hungry and must not settle on the accomplishment of getting the IPF signed - sealed - delivered.
  14. No. I think that our porous defense will impact this game far greater.
  15. We need it for games vs teams like UH, Tech, and even LaTech and SMU. Outside of these kind of match ups, it has proven to be an eyesore.
  16. I think it's noteworthy to be read into. We all knew that was going to be the problem this year. And it proved to be a problem vs a FCS program. As for the ACU fans, we were up by 30+ points. And though I don't like it, called the dogs off as far as offensive play calling. And it's not that I don't mind calling the dogs off, I mind it when our defense starts reeling and the opponent starts to feel good about themselves.
  17. The more important question is, what is Mason going to NEED to throw up on them to be competitive?
  18. He's a member of the secondary...Getting 14 tackles as a member of the secondary (unless your name is Kam Chancelor) is not a good thing.
  19. Super awesome? Yeah, we sound cool.
  20. That's all well and dandy, but I don't care about those QBs and our QB was visibly hobbling. It was an unnecessary risk.
  21. FCS games can be a good indicator...Giving up 435 yards and 31 points to FCS is an indicator of any sorts. I indicate that Arkansas will still suck because they beat Portland State 20-13 today in their season/home opener.
  22. I didn't say that. A poster did. I have been concerned about this defense since 2016. Last year was a tick up for the sake of JUCO kids that the staff landed on big time. But they are gone now and we haven't really reloaded with the same caliber of players, or at least they're not playing to this point. The defense is the achilles heel of this team and has been since SL arrived on campus. And this might be the worst bunch yet, and that's saying something if you consider the 2017 defense.
  23. Not really. Because I have to assume that most defensive starters are out there busting chops given how long they left Fine in the game. And their version of busting chops will get us boat raced out of stadiums vs competent offenses.
  24. Begging to not let the defense on the field vs ACU. lol. This is where we are. There is a lot of clean up to be had. The first game is just for this, but dang. C'mon.
