Typo..."...IF he's supporting our awful commish."
-
Of course not. Did I say such?
-
The bold is starting to be a theme, or shall I say already a theme. His track record, outside of getting us pulled out of a dumpster fire, sucks in just about every coaching tangible. He seemingly doesn't prep his team well vs good or bad teams. Big games, ha, 'nuff said. Playing down to opponents, check. Being out coached on a regular basis, check. The other team coming out with more energy, visibly and in preparation, check. People have mentioned it a few times on this board, but when SL does not have a clear as day talent advantage his team does not perform to standard and routinely railroaded. When his team does have the talent advantage, and sometimes big talent advantage, he too often has to squeak out wins...Or even sometimes flat out loses.

3-star recruiting promotion has to stop
NorthTexasWeLove replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
3-stars and offer lists are USUALLY synonymous. Whatever star and whatever offer list usually is too. Teams with good overall composite team talent usually fare well. Teams that don't have as good of composite talent usually do not. It's not rocket science. Give me a roster of 85 three stars and I'll show you a good football team. Give me a roster full of hopes in the wind, I'll show you a bad football team. -
I do not believe that Seth Littrell is getting hired away any longer. CFB is an extremely what have you done lately business. He faded toward the end of last year (predictably) and the start this year is horrible. Not sure how or why anyone would take Seth Littrell and put him as their top dog. It's a very Chad Morris sort of situation...And look where that has brought Arkansas.

Neither have we.

Yeah...I was grinding teeth in disbelief how much time he had back there at the game. An OK HS QB could've made some stuff happen with that kind of time. So, I have to ask...If we're not putting pressure, and we're sitting back trying to cover, why aren't we good at either? If you can't cover, which we can't, you HAVE to blitz and take your lumps in the air as they come while hoping for drive ending sacks, strips, errant throws, etc. ANYTHING

Well, it was sort of a reality check of how poor SL recruited his first 3 years + the fact that we just aren't very good. Losing at SMU...The excuse is made there...We haven't won there since the 30's, maybe we were flat, the coaches didn't know what to really prepare for because all of their transfers. Then, we come out and put up a decent (at best) performance on the road at a decent Cal team. So it was sort of trending upward to some degree after Cal. So a little hope starts to shine through. Word comes out that UH's best player is quitting. So we assume we will at least be ultra competitive and break away in the 2nd half with a dub. Then we get lambasted at home for a nice crowd to witness. Compile all of that with the fact that we know MF only has 3 more home games in his career then we will have a team full of unknowns going into Seth Littrell's 5th season. Breaking through that glass ceiling that is always and forever present for G5 programs seems kind of a hopeless achievement at this point. 9-4 might actually be the ceiling of UNT and it's difficult to fathom. Our year, under this grouping of kids, was last year and that year could have and should have easily been a 12-0 regular season. And now I feel like I'm ranting, so I'll stop.

I have no rule. I'm tired of spending me entertainment dollar on voluntary throat punches. No one was saying squat about the lack of recruiting in 2018 or 2019 during the season. It's an easy built in excuse and given it's year 4, it's a poor excuse. But we're beaten and tired fans, so as long as we're pulling 5-8 wins a year any coach could probably coach here forever...is the mindset around here anyways.
-
Spare me. It's year 4 on the field and year 5 in recruiting. How damn long does it take. Year 4 under most regimes is considered THE make or break year and we're dog paddling to keep our heads above water.

DRC: Five thoughts on UNT's loss to Houston
NorthTexasWeLove replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
No doubt. But it was an assumption call. The ref assumed there was going to be contact so he tossed the flag. Well, we know what assuming does... -

You can face guard. Doesn't matter if he turns around. It was a bull S call. -
Is he not rushing his throws? Is he not his normal accurate self even in the face of no pressure? Did he not sling his mouthpiece 30 yards to the sideline after missing an uncontested HB screen pass? Is he not feeling phantom pressure? Is this NOT happening? You imply that it's not, so just have the stated opinion of it not happening...
-
Getting talked shit to by a Cal fan is like listening to two midgets argue about who's taller... Does it really matter who's slightly taller?
-
Because, stupid. That's all I got.
-
This guy. lol. You worry about trying to get outta October with 5 wins and getting to bowl eligibility with that stellar defense, aight?
-
Mooney's leg really isn't that strong and he was kicking into the wind there...That was just what it was...poor coverage and contain by the KO team.
-
I believe you can recruit players IN the transfer portal, you just can't recruit them TO the transfer portal. That is my understanding, though it may be wrong.
-
They are a microcosm of what is wrong with society. What is there to like?
-
Yeah, this isn't his fault. But he's a part of the problem of he's supporting our awful commish. He should be trying to backdoor oust her as well as every other AD in the conference. A 20-year old sports marketing student could do the job she has done.
-
The pooch kick was after the UH KO return TD. It was our staff saying we don't trust our guys to kick and cover so we're going to concede the 40 yard line to you (as if they trust their D more).

The play calling is bad. 3rd & 1, power. Stuffed. 4th & 1, power. Stuffed. Similar to last year, with and without Reeder. 21 seconds to go in the 3rd quarter, wind in your face, down 2 touchdowns, 2nd and 4 from the 6...They take the quarter because of a little wind...As if THAT's the problem. The botched 2 point conversions...botched meaning they should have just kicked the dang PAT's. To boot, they call a TO to set up one of the attempts. Then the real beauty of it, Holgorsen lines up his squad for a 2 pt conversion to extend the lead to 3 full TDs and gets it seamlessly....As if they've practiced situational football. Then the refusal to argue or schmooze refs by showing emotion or calling a 2nd half timeout to try and dictate a review in what may or may not have been a close game going into the fourth Q. But then blowing a TO on a sloppy 2-pt try. The constant slow developing route trees called time and time again when you know UH has 7 in the box in a 3 WR set = pressure, but they still call these long crossing patterns or slow developing posts. Many of our problems are just being exacerbated this season because we aren't winning. But the same problems are still there and apparent. The common denominator is not Body Reeder or Graham Harrell, it's Seth Littrell.

Yeah, I read about this. I don't care what anyone says about Mike Leach. The dude tells it EXACTLY how it is with a very minimal amount of coach speak.
