That just isn't true. Most people that get on here to talk football are the one's rarely missing football games. The group on this forum is the group that is a part of that 10-12K when attendance is pitiful (at 10-12K). The people that really matter are the one's that are fence sitters. And they are not going to hop on this side of the fence with a poor team. It's just not reality. Something has to be done to capture their attention and garner it for years to come. A 2-4 UNT team hosting a 2-4 Middle Tennessee State University football team is not going to raise the interest of these people.

I hate to break it to you, with your big badge of honor all, but this team is not running the table. At this point, I'd be semi surprised if they split their remaining games. As far as my expectations vs yours, it's not really a pissing match. I have great expectations, but I do have some realism in me. And I knew the defense was going to be barely treading water this year, at best. They have not been recruiting DL. Defenses do not do well if you don't recruit them AND land them.

Skkkkyyyyyy hiiiiighhhhh expectations. Whew! Go to a bowl game and win it and don't get blown out continuously throughout the process. I guess those are TOOOOO freaking high.

Official MT Game Score Prediction Thread
NorthTexasWeLove replied to MeanGreenTexan's topic in Mean Green Football
Poor offense at MUTS vs poor defense at UNT. Whichever unit is worse will lose. -
Patience? Going into year 6 (given your next year could be tough comment), we might be OK...In year 6? Maybe. But who knows. I will tell you this...Next years class or this years class whether you want to scoff at my comment or not, has not addressed quality coming in at the OL and very minimal DL. As a matter of fact, of all of the 2019 signees and 2020 commits along the DL/OL, there are 10 other FBS offers combined, not including us. 5 of those were offered to Kade Bond. The other 5 offers on our other 10 DL/OL either signed or committed have 5 total FBS offers. These offers are the likes of NMSU, Air Force, Eastern Michigan, etc. And only Kade Bond falls into the category of having 3 or more FBS offers. Most have 1 or none. So, riddle me this, when and how do you expect to see this upward trajectory take action?
-
Not sure. But not something one would expect a coach getting paid the amount SL is getting paid going into year 5. He had his agent negotiate this pay scale for him (swindling UNT btw), so he accepts the responsibility of the expectations of having success. Nevertheless, for starters, I can all but guarantee another 1-3 OOC record. Jack Abraham is only a RS SO, so that's a probable L if this year in any indication. Rice is on the up n up, so that's a toss up. So, we're at 1-4-1 as of right now. Charlotte, @UTSA, and UTEP (getting to have 2 of those in that stretch at home will help). So, let's say we sweep those, but that's no gimme. That puts us around 4-4-1. At Middle and then or course the probable L to La Tech, hopefully a split at best? 5-5-1. Then a probable L @UAB. 5-6-1...And given all of our unknowns, that may be looked at as a best case scenario. So, with that, the highest paid coach in the conference (top 10 G5 salary, I believe), we may be looking at a 5-7/6-6 record for a best case scenario going into year 5. I would imagine our win total being set by Vegas somewhere between 4-5. I would define that as poor.

I'm not presenting myself one way or another. I see the writing clearly on the wall and I'm not hesitant to point it out. I'm confident in a poor season next year, unfortunately. The DL needed attention in the 2018 class, serious attention. MF has been given the opportunity to stat monger in spite of the future. So with no proven defensive commodities, an average at best OL, and basically a freshman QB starting, regardless of their class designation, the future is bleak. The recruiting staff must hit on JUCO kids, grad transfers, and transfer portal players to right their previous wrongs. Otherwise, fasten your seatbelt...The ride might get bumpy.

Get back at me in 1 year from today.
-
Not that part. The not accepting mediocrity as the standard.
-
People 'round here don't want to hear none of this. Things are gravy until they're not, and then they still are. Softest fan base I've ever experienced, and I'm a part of them. We just need to shut up, sit down, and be happy with our bowl drubbings and expect nothing except nothing.
-
I know this isn't directed at me, but I have 2 answers to that question. First, we're not going 6-6 I'm afraid. And we don't fire him this year regardless of the outcome and we shouldn't. But given what is being squandered this year and what was squandered last year in terms of talent...The seat warmer needs to be turned on. We have went from beating Southern Miss and SMU by 3-4 touchdowns and in 1 year losing to both by 3-4 touchdowns. You can spare me all the recruiting BS comments. Those kind of turnarounds are coaching blunders by our evidently by the second overpaid coaches.

I can get behind this sort of campaign, seriously. The Nebraska mantra. No matter how mediocre we get or downright bad, let's not let it be because of the fans and sell out Apogee for 30 straight years. People would eventually take notice. And it would boost recruiting. But that's not realistic, unfortunately. Too many band and art folk (let's be real, liberal folk) go or went to this school. And for the people that care about football, they put their maroon or orange shirt on long ago.

Yah. Dah. Sunshine pumpers will say, "In Littrell I trust". I mean, we can't expect to pull OL/DL with minimal to 0 offers and be good. The pumpers will say it's the most difficult position groups to recruit. And they're right. But other teams are doing it. SL and Co are not. It's a problem. A big one. And it's a problem that will continue to grow due to NONE of his classes really having any noteworthy OL/DL and neither does this 2020 class.
-
I read an interesting article some months ago, maybe even last year. It stated that only (going off memory) 19% of grad transfers actually leave X university with grad degree after playing. So, your reasoning = excuse.
-
Excuses.
-
We don't know that and that's the concerning part of all this.
-
You would think WB/SL would issue an apology and vow to correct it UH style. But, nope. Barricading the doors and windows and rolling with the bunker mentality. Oh, how it's all different but yet the same. I'm just glad WB used up all his 'best fall sport season in UNT history' tweets last year. The fall is steep and I'm afraid basketball will turn into a nose dive.
-
That sums up Seth Littrell at his time at UNT. Not sure there's an ability to recover from this stink either tbh.
-
Sounds like an assumption. Because WB will have to tolerate it for at minimum 2 more years. So, there's that.
