  1. Yeah, he's dangerous. Baits his defender with false steps on his breaks. Alphas the ball away from defenders. Splits defenders with burst acceleration. High points well on fades for his size. Strong hands allows him to pluck the ball extremely well. Where do I sign up?
  2. A legitimate argument could be made in comparison to baseball vs softball facilities. Start there. And I know there isn't a direct sport for women that peers with football, but the money, maintenance staff, renovations, bells/whistles, etc. dwarfs any and all women's sports, combined. It's all cute and fun to push this athletic gender equality argument. But athletics will never legitimately be financed equally regardless of how much law and policy rains down. Simple reason: women's athletics doesn't produce the same interest/money.
  3. Well, lol, that is laughable. Compliance or not, athletic programs scattered all over the country are not just breaking that rule, but mutilating it.
  4. The softball program deserves a renovation. Good programs should play in good facilities. However, I'm disappointed in baseball being swept. Again, countless programs JUST LIKE US make it work. So save me from the title 9 or financial comments. Not that you in particular have those comments to make, but many do.
  5. HS recruiting isn't going away. They'll have to fall in somewhere, at some level. Where do you think the transfers are originally coming from? Mars?
  6. I agree and disagree. Our offense has been serviceable. However, we do score a lot of garbage points while gaining garbage yards. Even with that, our offense isn't really the major problem. For the last 2 or 3 recruiting classes, or even since SL has been leading recruiting efforts since he's been here, defense has been neglected in large part. Well, we're seeing the fruits of that labor. We have to get stops and we have to stop allowing constant opposing personal bests albeit RB, QB, WR. We'll see.
  7. Agree. To it all.
  8. Very neat for several reasons. Kudos
  9. I don't think anyone is anticipating a Baum Stadium being built in the event we decide to stand up a baseball team. I think a seating arrangement such as a UTSA is fine to get things going. There is always the possibility of future expansion if need be.
  10. Yes. None of that has anything to do with how the likes of UTSA can do it, but we cannot. It doesn't really matter what came first or what didn't.
  11. And what is our higher overall salary doing for us as to them, specifically vs them? It's smoke and mirrors. Either announce a future plan of baseball or announce we have no desire to be a competitive athletic department while making your school as athletically attractive as possible in hopes of getting your university into a superior, higher payout conference. We're teetering. Nevertheless, CUSA is showing out this year. Tune in and cheer em on.
  12. That's a little crazy. However, what have our conference mates done to afford them the opportunity to have a baseball program that we have not? If UTSA can do it, then what are we waiting for?
  13. Legitimate shot at national relevance. Since I've been alive programs such as Pepperdine, Cal State Fullerton, Wichita State, Rice and Coastal Carolina have won national championships. We all know the prowess of Vanderbilt athletics *eye roll*, but in baseball their power is legitimate. Much like the "lesser" schools (mid-major, G5, etc.), Vanderbilt has decided to carve its niche into baseball to make it a relevant sports program to the SEC. There have been several other pretty solid baseball programs to from "lesser" schools to have significant national relevance. Exhibit A: Right down the street, Dallas Baptist.
  14. This will be interesting to follow. Great pick up by the staff.
  15. Move this where you may mods... C-USA is having a pretty good baseball season by all standards. 4 (SoMiss, LaTech, Charlotte, and Old Dominion) teams sitting around 35 wins and all 4 teams in the top 25. Good luck to these teams in their respective Regionals and hopefully Super Regionals, as a couple of them will certainly host Regionals. All this conference success while Rice, a usual baseball power, is a doormat this year.
  16. I believe the step above that is nep...nep...nepo...say it with me...nepotism.
  17. Mediocre? Nah. We've been pretty awful.
  18. The NCAA looking out for the rich. Typical.
  19. It's a monopolization of Texas HS sports. No other way to really put it. They should be embarrassed they aren't reeling in titles in everything on an annual basis. Their talent pool is triple in size compared to even its largest peers. Great, they are prideful and their city/town pride can be a focal point around one school. That's their claim, a shaky one at best.
  20. Ruder is the guy. He has to be. Otherwise, we're staring down the barrel of 3 wins, max.
  21. Money talks. GM doesn't have the attachment to UNT like the alum base. I never understand why our fans get so attached to coaches. We bleed kelly green, they bleed money green. Most will laugh at your post, but I understand the sentiment. Unless we go the basketball route, we will ALWAYS be a stepping stone to a multi-million dollar contract. I love football, I really do. It would take me time to get over it if the University decided to put all her eggs in the basketball basket. I would be somewhat upset about it, but I would understand it. Wichita St, Zags, Evansville, Pepperdine, Nova (a large portion of the Big East really) and several others have thrived and opened up new opportunities for their respective universities. Sports is supposed to be the front porch of a university. Too often our front porch looks like a house in The Bottoms. Commit to basketball (given the multitude of reasons as to why it's far easier to be a national program) and see what it does for the University. Until then, we're one foot in, one foot out; teetering in mediocrity (usually at best) everywhere. To those of you that will reply, "we should be great at both". My built in reply to that... Good luck.
