  1. I know there have been UNT greats, but i didn't see them play. I'm going into my 11th year following the program and in my time... 1. MF 2. Dunbar 3. ZO35 4. Darden 5A. Laramie Lee 5B. Trice
  2. Well, technically, hadn't had a P5 since 2011 I believe. 10 years and counting. The others scheduled are all TBD as far as I'm concerned.
  3. I didn't want to be left out on creating an SMU thread. Forgive me.
  4. Wonder how this will impact players coming to Rudys to talk in front of 11 fans on the radio.
  5. There's no basis for this. The demand really isn't there at UNT and programs alike and that's the problem of all of this. The demand is created by the exposure. The exposure was created by major state politics even before the SWC was created. The train sort of always left the station on programs like UNT, but there was always a glimmer of hope that catching up was a possibility. This has killed all realities of that. And in foresight, attendance will plummet as will exposure.
  6. that'll be in the early years. Virtue signaling has been good for business lately. When it doesn't make financial business sense to continue doing so, it will stop quickly.
  7. That's the patient, wait and see approach. But you and I know there is no way this can be good for UNT and its peers. For that matter, it's not good for a lot of programs. Programs like Wake, Indy, Duke, Arizona's, Vandy, BC, KU, and the rest of the other meddling "P5" programs in football will fall to the wayside to other sports. This will eventually make way to 30-40 programs being legitimate semi-pro programs all the while everyone else just sits back and watches the rich get filthy rich. Collegiate sports will eventually be restored in some fashion. My guess, the rich programs will get broken off by leaving the umbrella of the NCAA.
  8. It shouldn't be any different, but it is and it will be. Boosters will get involved with this to land "prized recruits". Expect significant sizes of money for a singular autograph and per the rule, "it's not cheating." But, it is. So, in a way, It's very different because your hypothetical drummer and photographer isn't taking money to come practice those talents. They are earning side money from an entirely different entity that is not affiliated with the university.
  9. Sure. But the MAC and the Sunbelt would've already had representatives too. Don't play into his hand with his half truths.
  10. Oh I know he is, but the data is there. Every G5 conference (with the BS exception of CUSA) would've already had a conference champion playing in the playoffs in this format. He's just bumpin gums.
  11. You're purposefully forgetting the fact that it's the 6 HIGHEST RANKED conference champions. That doesn't submit an auto bid to the AAC by any means.
  12. No shit. Ratings better than CUSA, sure. Peanuts compared to real P5 matchups.
  13. Yeah... I'm sure your ECU vs Temple ratings are banging. Or should I switch over to the Tulsa vs Memphis game? Or the Tulane at USF game in USF's empty NFL stadium? You guys have a good media contract. But ultimately nobody cares about your games all that much either, regardless of how good your commish is at negotiating.
  14. Need to regionalize, yesterday. It's the only saving grace and should've happened years ago. ALL "G5" Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico universities need to come together and give this region of college football a conference everyone can care about. So... Tulsa, Tulane, ULL, LaTech, A-State, NM, NM St., UH, SMU, TX State, Rice, UTSA, UTEP, UNT. Split it east and west, 7 teams in each with 2 cross over games a year and 4 non-con's.
  15. I hope they learned sharing is caring in elementary. After all, there's only 1 ball. Hopefully 1 or 2 emerge as dudes that are every down guys and the other positions can be rotated through. Given our offense and offensive success, this position group should always be stacked.
  16. Sure it does... If they stick to the format of the 6 highest ranked conference champions as the first 6 in.
  17. 6? What is this 6 you speak of? Is that their way to throw a bone to the "G5" or is that their way to slowly open the door to the AAC?
  18. That's not a feeling. That's a guarantee. Theoretically, it's wrong. Economically, it's just.
  19. When the old timer traditionalists relinquish their power, there will be a happening that takes place in regards to Notre Dame. They will either be forced to full time join OR they will be left to the wayside. Either way, it's not far away. They're feeling somewhat pressure hence their decision to part-time associate themselves with the ACC a few years back. Eventually, their hand will be forced. Yuck. No. Will never happen. That type of "seat" isn't even afforded in non-football sports. We just need a seat. I mean, in the theory of fairness and equality, sure. That would be the logical things to do. But, it will not happen. A spot, MAYBE 2 spots at the very most will be set aside for "G5" universities. This will be somewhat accurate to what they do. Nevertheless, this is excellent news. This puts someone at the table to fight for a title.
  20. Unbelievable might be a reach. Check that, is a reach. He took advantage on hitting on a QB (And kudos to him for that) and entering into an ultra weaker than usual CUSA. I mean, to say it was unbelievable would put winning conference titles and bowl games as realities in that window. Not getting camel punched in the throat in every meaningful game he coached. His best season or in your words, the most unbelievable season he's had up to this point was 2017. There isn't anything unbelievable about 69-31, 50-30, 54-32, and 41-17. Those are the finals of the 4 biggest games of the season in what has been his most successful season. Not to mention his wins. 4 one score wins vs what were basically .500 clubs or worse. I say all of that to say that since that season things have not progressed. He follows up the 2017 season with a monumental win vs a horrible Arkansas team to only crap the bed vs CUSA foes and not be able to return back to the CUSA Champ game with a division title in what SHOULD have been his best team. I'm rooting for the Mean Green and I hope nothing but the best. But daggum, this coach is entering his 6th season with 1 division title and 0-fer in bowls and CUSA championships. I'm in the Mean Green's corner, not in SL's.
