  1. Talking heads and media have created this, true or not. Example: the usual loud mouth talking heads were bashing Cincy in only besting Tulsa 28-20. Basically laughing at the thought of them being 6 and not being able to handedly beat Tulsa. In the SAME conversation was praising Oklahoma State and their playoff shot. Of course they failed to mention that Oklahoma State only beat Tulsa 28-23, nor would they ever. It's comical.
  2. That's a good grab by GaSo. They wanted the guy and they got their guy. He'll have a months long head start. Good for them.
  3. The earlier the fire the better the hire, in theory.
  4. Go get a BA quarterback and that will hide some recruiting mishaps. If we can't find or recruit a BA QB then our ceiling remains low and recruiting mishaps become spotlighted.
  5. This above needs to be THE away uniform forever.
  6. Yes, perfect. Let's run away our statistical dying fan base. Genius idea. He's entitled to his opinion. He needs to state it as loud as he can as often as he wants. He's committed. Let us not run those off. We need them.
  7. I don't take fos gold, ever. However, I said it weeks ago and I'll say it again; IF SL can lead this team to a 6-6 year AND bowl win he has EARNED another year. Unfortunately, for me, that's the minimal waterline. Oh, and, @UNTLifer ^
  8. This, I can agree with. On another note... @UNTLifer... ^ 😉 I'll be sure to tag you on my positive posts moving forward. You're welcome and thank me later.
  9. Well said. And Seth Littrell is a pretty big indication of money doesn't equate to results. La Tech pays their AD almost 2/3 less than what we pay ours and their football coach a cool million dollars less than what we pay ours and they have only historically beat our faces off in football. And in regards to our pay rates/results I could go find pretty much countless programs that would match this comparison. I'm not trying to put my hands in another man's wallet, but at the same time the legitimacy of it has to be questioned. We are simply not getting what we are paying for.
  10. The upside is looking like a legitimate program that will not settle with mediocrity YoY and will pull the trigger at anytime. It sends the message that setting it on cruise control, during good or bad times, will not be tolerated. It also puts us on the map as a current job opening that needs filling and candidates start to throw their names in the hat sooner rather than later. It allows the university to start to vet candidates earlier, hire earlier, allows the hire to go get his assistants earlier, allows recruiting the current commmitted guys and going to get other guys earlier, allows the hire to start putting his 'touch' on the program earlier, start a legitimate strength and conditioning program earlier, start setting the standard of expectations earlier, etc. Must I go on?
  11. Financially, I don't see how it does. Are we getting the same ROI as P5 schools? Of course not. So why are we paying like we are? A scarecrow could watch three 4-win seasons in a row and not flinch or make a peep.
  12. I disagree about UGA. A solid team will make their former walk on QB beat them with his arm. When that happens, he won't be able to.
  13. I post, good or bad. I think most would agree to that.
  14. Oregon lost to 3-5 Stanford. Beat unranked Cal by 7. Beat unranked ucla by 3. All of which are losing Pac12 teams. Beat Fresno by 7. Move along.
  15. Oregon, though I get beat Ohio State, lost to a very bad 3-5 Stanford team and yet there they are at 4. But the goal of this move was assuring that the Ohio State vs Oregon 'match up' is going to hold more "weight" than the Cincy vs Notre Dame matchup. When has a 1 loss ND team NOT been on the front porch of the rankings at 5th ready to sneak into that 4th spot just to inevitably be embarrassed? Answer: this year when 1) it would help Cincy if they were and 2) they'd have to put Cincy in front of them. So, instead, they push Notre Dames ranking to 10th and prioritize the Oregon vs OSU match up out of spite. It's criminal. The ACC sucks. The Pac12 sucks. Sucks as in top to bottom, on neutral fields, the AAC would test their clout. It's a money thing. A recruiting thing. An ego thing. The former and even standing ADs of P5 schools that sit on this "committee" will see to it that it stays this way.
  16. Throwing money, P5 money at that, at our AD is not success. It's stupidity, especially considering the monies that will need to be pushed around soon. But, excuse me.
  17. Reason and logic. It's a rarity around here sometimes.
  18. ADs are shown the door for incompetent football, not women's golf. He has done a good job. Let me not take that away. But football is king. Let's see how that unfolds before rolling out the red carpet, though too late it appears.
  19. Premature. Stuff of UNT lore. He hit on his basketball hire, but now sustaining the program will be key and has yet to be seen. Football = awful. He was a key component in getting UNT into the AAC. But let's wait until at least 2025 to see what the AAC actually is. Was someone after WB? If not, what are we doing? If someone was, he's too unproven in where it matters (football), so what are we doing?
  20. Very cleanly said.
  21. I think 5 brings him back. I don't want to see us get to 5 because our program has grown stagnant with him here. That doesn't mean I want us to necessarily lose, it just means I don't want him back here. We need new blood, new recruiting strategies, new S&C, new program under more A-type and hungry leadership.
