  1. I'll have two of what he's having please...
  2. Horrible idea. Interest at this "level" of football would plummet. Though I'm still of the mindset our money needs to be put into basketball and starting a baseball program. Those are the sports we can compete in on a national stage year in and year out if the investment is truly put there. I don't care that this is Texas. Athletics is supposed to be the window to the university or front porch, whatever. Get 2 main sports really humming and that front porch starts looking very enticing. GM has the bball program in the right direction. Now we just need to: A. Pay the man Seth Littrell money B. Attend basketball games C. Start plans on a 5-6k seat arena. Not a state of the art one either. But a very cool, classy arena that let's natural light in. Like a smaller allen or hinkle or palestra. D. Start lefirimately looking into baseball What is our end all in football? Is football going to consistently shine a positive light on this university? We all hope. But what is the evidence suggesting? Time to rethink the approach, imo.
  3. This. This uniform needs to the THE home uniform of choice. THE away uniform must be the all whites with white helmet. Make it happen and quit making it cool to look stupid. It's not cool.
  4. Same thing? I have to think it would be significantly more annoying.
  5. That's like UNT, but opposite... Locker room... Academics... Yay us!
  6. What changes for us are the G5s that DO have a little NIL money to throw around while we have minimal to none.
  7. So even to your own acknowledgment, NIL does indeed have ramifications for UNT.
  8. 5ish. They ALL need to be impact transfers. This is where selectivity must ne prioritized.
  9. HS freshmen probably aren't impacting that. However, transfers that can ball would immediately impact that. We've largely whiffed in that department.
  10. Let them start a football program. I guarantee you we will be battling them for recruits. They're going to have to go through us.
  11. Figuratively and literally, to both HFC and AD. Yay US!
  12. They have money -- "academic prestige" aka they force people to pay more for their Methodist private tag so in hand it's prestigious -- and their "SWC roots". They're also in a conference that actually provides them a platform. But, yes, our attendance is similar to that of SMU -- though our enrollment is 4x theirs and our alum base is quintuples theirs.
  13. This is a major problem. We are legitimately pulling away from these type of programs far too often. It would be one thing if it was on the occasion for a recruit that we thought was a developmental player with good intangibles. But we are filling a roster currently with this type of recruit. It's not good. You're right. It doesn't look pretty. Yet, SL is still here and Wren Baker is very hush-hush about the whole situation. Unfortunately, attendance next season will speak volumes. Then more players will leave that have the opportunities because no one wants to play in front of a dead crowd while probably eating L's. Vicious cycle that Seth Littrell almost sort of pulled us out of, but allowed us to fall right back into this cycle. And YET, he's still here.
  14. It's not really this one. If this was a one off no one would mention it. It's constant. All the time. It's partly due to name changes, but IMO, it's due to the fact that the admin still tries to brand us at North Texas. North Texas is a region. We are the university in said region. We need to be branded as UNT. Then, all of this confusion would stop pretty quickly. And I am assuming the kids school created this for him. Because ours didn't, which is another issue at its core.
  15. People are confused because people are stupid. There are 130 FBS programs. It's not difficult to know their names, state geography and mascots. It's pretty simple, especially if you are heavily involved in football.
  16. Tbh, I am not worried about the class if a few things happen... 1. Running the football (much like in 2021) is truly prioritized, but this time in a more creative manner with unique offensive sets that get an additional OL on the field at times with a mauling TE or 2 out there. Then PA off of it with same sets and move the pocket, etc. There are ways to be unique and creative while looking bland to the naked eye. 2. Defensive recruiting/transfers is prioritized with our remaining ships. If SL goes back to attempting finesse/air raid, it takes talent at the skill player level to do that; not to mention at the QB position. If we wholesale make a cultural and philosophical change (and I don't mean one mid-season to save jobs), then recruiting classes truly come down to fit and need instead of whipping everyone with talent, though the talent helps.
  17. ...there is nothing more certifiable than not even getting our institutions name correct. It's amazingly pathetic.
  18. Athletes should be able to move freely...after one year of sitting as a transitional period. Go back to the old rule. This one is horrible for the game. Even NFL players are obligated to their contracts. Even NFL teams have salary caps. This is the wild, wild west. It's insane.
  19. Because football and basketball is comparable. Hopefully this guy comes in and gets yoked and is ready to go at this level. Welcome.
