I can definitely say as a student that not a single game in 2017 got as much hype as season opener vs SMU is getting (at least in my opinion/from my experience), and school isn't even in session. A lot of friends, coworkers and family members that used to shrug whenever I told them we had a big game against, say, UTSA or whomever, are all actually really hyped for the SMU game. My pops will be there, I'll have a group of friends who I've convinced to come to their first game as students there... it's gonna be poppin

I mean no disrespect but I absolutely never have understood the "well, we didn't do good last time, so that means we won't do good this time." insecurity. Why? There's no rules that we have to be bad in San Antonio. We lost by 7 in 2014 and 14 in 2016. Neither game was unwinnable. 0-2 is not any reason to consider beating them at their place to be "unrealistic", especially in college football where players and coaches change in the blink of an eye. Both teams are completely overhauled from where they were in 2016. I understand the hesitance, but it's not like the Alamodome is some extreme home field advantage. Roadkill on the horizon.

Unpopular opinion: I'm not really all that worried about losing to FAU 🤷‍♂️ I have us going 11-1 in the regular season. The vibe on campus is much more into football than it has been in my time here. I've had conversations with quite a few students who are new to supporting the team... just seems like we're on the cusp of something special.

I'm not excusing anything that happened in Waco, but can we *please* stop pretending Baylor is the only school on God's green earth that has let this type of culture exist? I'm only frustrated because, speaking as a current student at UNT, I see sexually inappropriate behavior WAY more than I'd like to and it's very clearly prevalent in the athletic departments at almost every relevant university. I'm not bringing this up to void Baylor, because they don't deserve that, but I'm tired of reading nonsense about people blasting Rhule for trying to be a shining light in a hellhole that Briles left Waco in.
