Pre-Game Observations & Question
Pavlovs Eagle replied to Meangreen Fight's topic in Mean Green Football
The Alumni Pavilion seems like the quintessential poorly managed UNT asset. The changes to Verde catering the food for the past two or three seasons have sucked, in my opinion. And it's not just for alumni; unless it went back to that this season, anyone can come in and get food. A few of the Advancement people got hot on Twitter about justifying this change when it was done. I won't pretend I think the Alumni Association gives any member or prospective member a reason to join; the Alumni Pavilion used to be one of the most tangible things you could benefit from. The two patios are baking in the sun. The west-facing patio did get sun shades in the past few seasons; the newer east patio cut into the hill has no shade, and you get almost no breeze since the hill it is cut into stops a good bit of airflow. At a minimum, they need to add the sail sun shades to the east side, too. At the game today, the Alumni Pavilion was playing coffee house-esque heavy instrumental covers of songs. I didn't know whether to clap or snap at the end of songs. If I had a small chair and pillow, I could have taken a nap to the musician. I know we're a "Music School," but do we have to play folksy Americana-sounding music on game day at the Alumni Pavilion? You could put in a cheap 70v commercial audio system and play some high-energy music on two speakers pointing on each of the three exterior sides of the building and 2-4 inside the building. I'd buy a brick, but I figured it would end up in a stack only to be put in when they expand in a decade. The Alumni Association needs to be stripped down to the studs and have the whole board re-appointed. Non-football events have become non-existent, and the ones we go to (like the Dallas Perot Museum night this past week) seem like big misses because of the lack of organization. -
Improving the Student Game Day Experience
Pavlovs Eagle replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
If you've been at DATCU the last two games, it's pretty clear the band has been sidelined by the DJ playing songs more frequently between plays. Tonight, there were even a few times when the band tried to start playing, and the DJ started or kept going with their music. I know the old-timers want to hear Fly Like an Eagle, Mr Brightside, and a few other average UNT band songs, but the atmosphere is much better when we aren't subjected to the band being ready to play something between plays. In Q4 tonight, the DJ must have gone on break or was told to let the band play more. As a result, the energy was different from the first three quarters. -
Saw him walk through the Hub Club. He was wearing the crop top. Lots of free tickets were given out to the Hub Club tonight! There were plenty of new faces, which always makes you wonder why you pay when half the other folks aren't.

Less people than the SFA game. It's normal painful hot Texas Sept weather this game though. -
The Athletic Department is most likely giving those to partner organizations in and around Denton to distribute. So they're not available for sale, but that doesn't mean they'll get used. For all we know, they're sitting on an Administrator's desk at a local area school.

According to a social media response I saw this week, there will be four different total this season. I guess I'm spending $200 on cups this season!

Mosley: Fire Morris or leave as well
Pavlovs Eagle replied to Marcelo's topic in Mean Green Football
Get hired at a school where we can't afford to fire him. -
This is one of the most cush jobs in FBS. We have just enough resources to pay big salaries, but not enough to buy out contracts. Also the old guard who the MGSF and Advancement people run around and court have seen enough bad seasons to say "aww shucks!" after a bad season and not "let's do something about it." The AD position is similar. You kiss enough old guard NTSU Hub Club people's ass and make them feel seen you'll be able to have 10+ years of bad football while sitting in the AD chair. You might not find yourself a P4 job next like Wren did, but you could probably leverage the role into a P4 Assistant AD in a non powerhouse school and keep moving up.

Pretty sure he didn't even have a logo'ed shirt on this morning at the tailgate in Lubbock. I get you want to wear a button up and look sharp, but they sell button ups with a UNT logo on them. Hell, the Mayor of Denton was at the tailgate in a bright green UNT polo. The Prez looked like he might be with the catering team. We're supposed to go to the reception for him tonight, I'll ask him what he thinks of our performance. 😂

🔥🔥🔥Official UNT vs Texas Tech IN-GAME DISCUSSION🚨🚨🚨
Pavlovs Eagle replied to Cooke County Kid's topic in Mean Green Football
What an accomplishment! With 47 bowls games, and two teams needed per game from the 134 FBS schools that just means your not in the bottom 1/3 of FBS teams by record. -
****OFFICIAL SFA vs UNT In-Game DISCUSSION****
Pavlovs Eagle replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
A few thoughts after driving home... Our OL folded like a cheap suit almost immediately against SFA. Chandler is forced to be fast because the pocket collapses if it is ever established, which I think is contributing to his picks. This feels very Mason Fine UNT Football. It will ultimately lead to the quarterback getting hurt. Did the indefinitely suspended DL players kill someone? Integrity and "do the right thing" are great, but let's not cut our nose off to spite our face. The line for Cruits' getting tickets went from the BB ticket box down the sidewalk almost to the visiting team ticket box by the Alumni Pavilion. This was just before 5:30p. We also had 5-6 windows at the BB ticket box for recruits. I've never seen so many, and so many windows dedicated to them. Kudos to getting recruits there. Let's ensure we don't 💩 the bed at the next home game if we continue to have that many potential recruits in the stands. The student section was as full as I've seen it in almost ten years. There were more kids than at the LA Tech 2018 game after we started 4-0 (and then collapsed). It's my understanding that the Maniacs from Baskeball are leading the Football student section organization. Keep that up, and let's not give the kids a reason not to go. There were metal detectors and yellow jacket CSC stadium security people in the Club section. Did one of you fellow Hub Club ticket holders get out of jail? Hub Club continues to be full of people I'm convinced don't pay for Hub Club tix. I'm legit scared for Lubbock next week. I'm still going, but if I get emotionally embarrassed by the football team's performance and somehow get hit in the head by a tortilla while in the stadium, I may need to sit out the rest of the season. -

Chairback Seats To Be Installed At DATCU Stadium
Pavlovs Eagle replied to cousin oliver's topic in Mean Green Football
I noticed in their Instagram post that they're black mesh. Hopefully the soft material lasts and they aren't vandalized, but I was admiring them thinking of how swass-y the hard seats get in a nice hot fall day in the Club section. -
***OFFICIAL UNT vs. SOUTH ALABAMA IN-GAME DISCUSSION***
Pavlovs Eagle replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I forgot to comment on this after going to Mobile for the USA game... Their scoreboard is AWESOME (other than the iPhone 13 style notch at the top of it). Makes me more embarrassed of our tiny square scoreboard that they now want to move to the corner with the Athletic Center remodel. Getting fans into their stadium was a Cluster F though. Wanding every fan instead of having walk through metal detectors is a bad setup. And charging $5.50 for a bottle of Dasani should be illegal. -

I'm on something like year 7 in the Hub Club and I don't think the price changed this year unless I just clicked and ignored a price increase in my section. What section were you in? Or did you have Lettermans or Staff discounts and they stopped giving those out? -

"We just need to be more holistic in all three phases of the game" - Morris... probably -
I love sitting with my fellow Mean Green, but I hate sitting in 💩 upper-deck seats at sporting events. How much of an ass are TTech people going to be if I pick something in the section behind our bench? I'll never forget being one of a dozen UNT fans at a UNT at UAB game in the old UAB stadium and having a UAB fan who wanted to fight me for clapping after a few favorable UNT plays. He must have forgotten that he wasn't at Alabama and that Tuscaloosa was a few more exits down the interstate.

New Bomber Jacket Rollout from Homefield
Pavlovs Eagle replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Nike UNT polos are often $80 to $90... Peter Millar and Tommy Bahama logo'ed polos are $130. Honestly, $160 isn't bad in 2024 NCAA team gear terms. I often worry that the UNT logoed gear situation is a perpetual doom loop of cheap UNT fans saying, "Damn, that's expensive," and never buying the nicer pieces. Then we never get any additional new nice gear. I feel like the new brands I've never heard of, like Homefield, take a chance on us for their first release of logoed gear, then you never see the collection expanded, or they drop us as a team entirely. We're all amazed when Dick's Sporting Goods IN DENTON TEXAS puts up a large UNT gear section; then, still, no one buys anything. Most sporting goods places in DFW have a shrinking assortment of our gear. Stop being cheap. Buy something. A lot of y'all look raggedy on Saturdays in the Fall in your one old green UNT T-shirt that looks like you also mow the yard in it on away weekends. Don't get me started on people who don't even try to wear UNT gear to Basketball.- 15 replies
