We were later than usual. We usually like to arrive 2 hours before kickoff, but we didn't arrive at the NT Blvd exit until 30 minutes before kickoff. If not for the Hub Club entrance, we would have missed the first quarter, too. The Northbound I35E North Texas Blvd exit is a poorly managed part that must be resolved. UNT should have made 100 plastic yard signs that say "Blue Lot for Pass Holders ONLY. No Passes for Sale" and stick 50 of them 5-10 feet apart down the left and right sides of the access road between the NT Blvd offramp and NT Blvd. For every five cars that turned left across the bridge and pulled up to turn into the south blue lot entrance, one went through. After half-time, someone can pull the hypothetical signs out of the ground and save them for the next game. One digital road sign was posted, but it didn't mention the Blue Lot needing already purchased passes. The message it did have about the Orange Lot was contrived and difficult to decipher. I didn't know the Brown Lot existed till this past weekend. It's an easily accessible lot rarely used on most game days. To be candid, I spend too much money as it is to get my complementary Blue Lot pass (I think if MGSF correctly accounted for my Basketball contributions, I should probably have a Black Lot pass). If they oversold the Blue Lot and I could not find a spot, I'd be very frustrated. The many open spots probably also have something to do with a lot of people parking in the gravel/mulch RV spots. I guess there are just not that many people who want to pony up more money than 2 Hub Club tix cost to park an RV. Regarding exiting, the Denton/UNT Police at one point had enough cones to keep you from leaving the southern Blue lot entrance and cutting across the southbound access road traffic to try to get on the Southbound I35E entrance at NT Blvd. They should start doing that again. Yes, I will have to go through the light at McCormick (I think that's the next street) and get on one entrance ramp further, but it will keep traffic moving better. I hate to say it, but we won't have any of these issues again this season, even with a win this weekend at UTSA.

Every 3rd person in Hub Club is saying "well I think we're leaving at half time" -
My brother in Christ, if we get one more win and get to a bowl game, Jared will extend everyone and hand out big raises. That's just the way it goes in Denton.

I see the tackle their legs methodology of trying to tackle is back from the FAU game. 🥴 -
It worked great for the PAC12, ACC, and Big 10 previously... https://www.si.com/college/utah/football/looking-back-at-the-pac-12s-failed-alliance-with-the-acc-and-big-ten Any alliance with the PAC after they unsuccessfully recruited the "AAC 4" would be managment malpractice on the part of the AAC Commish. And right now he looks very smart after keep the raiders at bay in the latest attempts.

But they're in the ACC! Its like a Power-ish conference as long as we pretend the P4 isn't really just the P2, the Pretender2, and the rest of us G6'ers.

Can We Get the PA Fixed Before Tulsa?
Pavlovs Eagle replied to Side.Show.Joe's topic in Mean Green Football
But didn't the band sound great playing Mr Brightside!!... a "hype" song that came out before many of our students were born. It sucked when it came out, and the hold that it has over people 20+ years later drives me bananas. Why our band plays it either demonstrates they have bad taste in music, or don't care to learn anything more contemporary and less awful to play during games. -
Speaking of... $cam Rising dressed and didn't play another week for Utah. Utah fell at home to Arizona by two posessions. Cam could teach a Masterclass on how to collect NIL checks and poison your team for multiple seasons.

Improving the Student Game Day Experience
Pavlovs Eagle replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
It pains me reading comments saying "the DJ is too loud" and "I can't have a nice conversation with the people near me." I think everyone appreciates fans being at the game, but lets not add "its too loud at the live sporting event" to feedback we're giving the AD. Energy builds energy. The game day experience needs to start being geared towards fans under 50. I truly worry about the lack of 22-50 year old fans in our stadium each week. We are in trouble in the coming decades if we do not age the experience down to cast a wider net and get more fans at the game. If you want a calm experience where you can have a nice dinner and listen to a 30-60 second delayed game day radio feed, the ticket office would love to sell you some Hub Club tix. I see people every game that never ever leave the tables inside at the Hub Club to go to their seats outside. And people advocating to put students in the Wing seating must have never sat there or hate our students. Endzone seating views aren't good at any stadium. Our stadium usually looks more full than it actually is because we have students in the sunny east bleachers filling in seats that otherwise would be a hard sell the first half of the season. -
Pre-Game Observations & Question
Pavlovs Eagle replied to Meangreen Fight's topic in Mean Green Football
The Alumni Pavilion seems like the quintessential poorly managed UNT asset. The changes to Verde catering the food for the past two or three seasons have sucked, in my opinion. And it's not just for alumni; unless it went back to that this season, anyone can come in and get food. A few of the Advancement people got hot on Twitter about justifying this change when it was done. I won't pretend I think the Alumni Association gives any member or prospective member a reason to join; the Alumni Pavilion used to be one of the most tangible things you could benefit from. The two patios are baking in the sun. The west-facing patio did get sun shades in the past few seasons; the newer east patio cut into the hill has no shade, and you get almost no breeze since the hill it is cut into stops a good bit of airflow. At a minimum, they need to add the sail sun shades to the east side, too. At the game today, the Alumni Pavilion was playing coffee house-esque heavy instrumental covers of songs. I didn't know whether to clap or snap at the end of songs. If I had a small chair and pillow, I could have taken a nap to the musician. I know we're a "Music School," but do we have to play folksy Americana-sounding music on game day at the Alumni Pavilion? You could put in a cheap 70v commercial audio system and play some high-energy music on two speakers pointing on each of the three exterior sides of the building and 2-4 inside the building. I'd buy a brick, but I figured it would end up in a stack only to be put in when they expand in a decade. The Alumni Association needs to be stripped down to the studs and have the whole board re-appointed. Non-football events have become non-existent, and the ones we go to (like the Dallas Perot Museum night this past week) seem like big misses because of the lack of organization. -
Improving the Student Game Day Experience
Pavlovs Eagle replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
If you've been at DATCU the last two games, it's pretty clear the band has been sidelined by the DJ playing songs more frequently between plays. Tonight, there were even a few times when the band tried to start playing, and the DJ started or kept going with their music. I know the old-timers want to hear Fly Like an Eagle, Mr Brightside, and a few other average UNT band songs, but the atmosphere is much better when we aren't subjected to the band being ready to play something between plays. In Q4 tonight, the DJ must have gone on break or was told to let the band play more. As a result, the energy was different from the first three quarters. -
Saw him walk through the Hub Club. He was wearing the crop top. Lots of free tickets were given out to the Hub Club tonight! There were plenty of new faces, which always makes you wonder why you pay when half the other folks aren't.
