So for now, what is the Stadium's name?
Pavlovs Eagle replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
And that took 3+ months to organize from Enron bankruptcy to Minute Maid sponsorship announcement in early 2002. That was actually a record turn on naming rights considering how bad of a situation Enron was and big of a hand they had in getting the ballpark downtown. Sports Authority field was still Sports Authority field in Denver almost 6 months after their bankruptcy. Denver gave up on getting a replacement deal on that and just bit the million dollar bullet and stripped the field of any naming for 3 full seasons. Anyways. The obvious person to chase who can foot the bill is Ryan. The only other North Texas alumni brand that I can think has any name recognition in North Texas would be Cavenders. I always assumed that Apogee was forced to buy the naming rights to our humble football mecca as part of an agreement to get a networking contract for UNT. It was a unique name, but it did nothing for them as a company. -
I'm impressed you can find a Twin Peaks or any sports bar that will bother to have a UNT game on Saturday during college football season. Maybe things are looking up!

Nothing says big money operation like a classy label scar on your building. We can be the Sears or Toys R Us of FBS football! -
$60k a year before housing is a bargain!

Costs money to build and install an in-between sign package. I'd assume the original contract had timing that the Athletic Department and Mean Green Sports Properties has to abide by in finding a new sponsor and removing the signage or taking it down all together. There's a good chance if someone found the contract, that the Athletic Department actually has to pay Apogee past whatever that period is to use the name. If you see UNT spending $1m+ on an interim sign package that replaces roadside, interior hung, exterior hung, and all printed materials with a generic "UNT Stadium" then you should assume that there was ZERO hope of finding a stadium sponsor. Overall you should assume Athletic Department/Mean Green Sports Properties most likely needs the initial sponsorship payment installment to afford any new signage. -
I think they both redshirted in 2019 at UNT. I think they're back next year at UCLA.

It was 33 degrees at kickoff. By midnight it was in the high twenties. I was there, my west coast "I hate anything below 55 degrees" better half was there with me. We were wearing 5 layers, warm with being over served alcohol at the tailgate, and armed with lots of HotHands hand warmers. We should call a spade a spade. It was cold AF, everyone knew it would be cold AF, and it was a less than ideal experience weather wise. I was honestly impressed with our turnout. I think those b*tching about it probably weren't there, aren't ever at the stadium formerly known as Apogee during the season, and don't hold season tix to anything. Remember the 9th most attended bowl this year featured Tulane. A G5 team, picked to be last in the AAC this year, who has worse average attendance than UNT in a city/region filled with fans and t-shirt fans of a purple and yellow tiger team an hour away in Baton Rouge. I'm inspired that we can rally our fan base when I think of the Tulane story. We know D1 attendance stats are padded, but we are still averaging 2k more fans in those padded stats than Tulane did for their near perfect season. If it wasn't for the very well attended Southern Miss game, where there were Golden Eagles than Green Waves at the Tulane Stadium, their average attendance would probably be even lower. And the Rose Bowl is the most amazing venue to watch a packed CFB game in America. Yes its old, its hard to get into the seating area, concessions suck, parking sucks, its hard to get to in LA, you're packed like sardines at 90k fans, but damn its awesome. Utah fans knew this was their last chance ever to win a Rose Bowl, and Penn State had only won one Rose Bowl prior, despite multiple times at the Bowl Game . That place was destined to be packed to the gills. If only Cam Rising hadn't gotten knocked out for the second year in a row. This kid gets a good portion of it. Our Game Day atmosphere sucks. Its bad in Football and its bad in Basketball. Many of our C-USA conference mates have average attendance too, but when you're at their stadiums on a Saturday there is never dead air. UNT on the otherhand has moments where you could hear a pin drop in between plays. Its a combination of poor MC'ing, poor advertising tactics in between plays, lack of variety in anything played over the speakers, or shown on the crappy video board, a bad sound system, and an overall lack of professionalism in the way the game is produced. I harp on this over an over on this message board. I honestly think the BMD and Club Level types don't care because in between plays we can go inside and get a slice of cake or another buffet plate. But the fans sitting in the bleachers look bored out of their skull during the games. I often wonder if anyone responsible with our in-game experience has been to any of our conferencemates or other NFL/NBA professional sports games. I'm guessing NO. If they had, they would know that even with our $hitty video boards and archiac crappy speaker system, they could be doing more to keep energy up and people engaged in the game. Mean Green fans hold themselves to a low standard and are more interested in skewering those who ask for more than wondering if there's room for improvement. I have no idea why the fanbase and University is so self depreciating.

Woof... Team looks rough. Like the jerseys though!

Why do we have to hit 3's when were up by 8 to 10 and we could just trade 2 pointers till the final buzzer? WKU isn't hitting 3's at all.

Coach Stansbury has missed 3 games in a row. Unspecified medical issues:

The XFL draft already happened in November...

Was a fun game to be at despite the high 30's temps by the 4Q. I appreciated that we kept it close, there's been a lot of blow out bowl games the last few years. Aune's pick and the last two drops were three nails in the coffin. The Littrell years are done. Mourn, celebrate, whatever... Time to move on to bigger better things with Morris in the American. Aune, look forward to seeing you playing in the CFL, USFL, or XFL. 🤢

Anyone at the tailgate event already? Heaters out? We're about to leave Plano and head over there.

Team looked good. Stone came off the bench well. Things are coming together! GMG!

Who was selling them for cheaper? I thought $65 for a UNT bowl game was aggressive, but they were much higher on StubHub and Vivid Seats.

The current South EZ board is awful. If they want to have two of those in the North EZ and a nice widescreen higher resolution board in the South EZ, go for it. But it sounds like a waste of precious capex dollars to me and it's also a content bottleneck trying to produce instant replay content and misc Game Day content in two sizes.

I just don't get that at all. Why have the maintenance, construction, infrastructure expense to put up two 4x3 square boards when you could have one big beautiful 16x9esque long board. You know the future of videography is high resolution 1920x1080 or higher video production. If they're worried about spacing or the ability to put in another Club Level type product in the endzone, how exactly do they plan to sell those premium seats when the current CL is as empty as it's been in half a decade? And as I've complained about in other threads, there's clearly plenty of gratis CL access flying around already. Almost every away game I go to, including low budget joints like LA Tech, has a nice video board. WKU has a nicer one than we do! The only standard for corner video boards in CUSA and probably AAC is UTSA's crappy corner boards in the four corners of the Alamodome. I truly think people here don't care because our GameDay video production is the ABSOLUTE worst I've seen amongst our peers, and has been for years, that the video boards are just an afterthought. We can have both a better beautiful highly functional product to put video on, and a higher level of production on replay, promotional, hype building, advertising, and more.
