  1. I hope I make it till the 2026 season when we play at Wyoming at Laramie. Never seen a College football game in Laramie or anywhere in Wyoming. ...and I'd also like to say it's hopefully unlikely I'd die from old age before 2026. It's more likely my wife kills me in a rage over asking her to go to Laramie, Wyoming, to watch a football game.
  2. Saw this on Twitter and came to GMG just to see if it was getting talked about... I like this a lot.
  3. Thought they may pull it out right there at the end! Great to watch Mean Green BBall in the summer, the team did great. Only second year fielding a team and we're in the Championship game. Next year baby...
  4. If it does end up being DATCU Stadium, what will be the correct pronunciation? Do we say "Denton Area Teachers Credit Union Stadium" or "D-A-T-C-U Stadium" or could it be " Dat Cee Yew Stadium"??
  5. I know MBAs get printed like money from the federal reserve these days but isn't 30hrs and three semesters a bit easy as far as the course load for an MBA goes?
  6. Don't worry. There were people on the City of Denton FB account complaining about the very first picture of this that was posted. Multiple concerned older women commenting on FB claimed Fire Trucks should always be red. If they saw a giant green fire truck-shaped object barreling down a Denton road with emergency lights and sirens on, they would have NO IDEA what to do next because it wasn't red.
  7. Except for a few select SEC, two Big10, and USC, there will be big a pullback on NIL contributions in the next 3-5 years. As the article mentions, the fundraising portion of a NIL collective isn't sustainable. Unless you own a car dealership where you can write off a few nice car leases as a marketing expense, the average wealthy person would rather have the write-off associated with donating to a 501c3 versus no write-off to a NIL collective. And if you're REALLY wealthy, you'd probably rather have a timeless gift of having your name on a building/room/cornerstone by leaving a huge Estate gift. The flip side would be a huge estate donation to a funny money NIL collective that will contribute to a senior grad transfer to have drinking money and a nice apartment for 1 year while your team enjoys their Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl berth. Keep donating to the MGSF.
  8. I seem to have rustled some jimmies with my comment based on all the multiple negative post reactions. While I can't find any reference to the article when searching Google, I specifically remember seeing a piece 15-20 years ago, complete with maps of Denton neighborhoods flanking 377 near 35E (Acme Brick plant location), showing the higher-than-average counts of kids with asthma. Just a memory, we can editorialize my memory of said article over in The Eagles Nest if people get bored 😁
  9. Selfishly I hate that it is over in Cowtown now. It's a solid 55-65 minute drive from Plano. I know the facility is much better, we enjoyed seeing Brooks and Dunn there back in May. But, the house and my office are minutes away from The Star. During our mid-day Tournament games, I would block off a few hours on the work calendar and drive up to The Star and back to the office after it was done. I didn't look at the setup of the AAC tourney last year. I assume there are games from morning to night to get both the men's and women's games in on a single court?
  10. Or they could incorporate an "ice luge" into the sculpture and start selling Western Son Ice Luge shots from the sculpture at $5 a pop. Give me Verde Catering's phone number. I'll get it all sorted out!
  11. Isn't the existence of the Acme plant in Denton a taboo subject? Something about the abnormally high instances of asthma in children in and around Denton?
  12. Great event. Much better than the brewery in the Cedars in Dallas last year. The food was good, and all three coaches were incredibly charismatic, compared to the previous events where only Mac was a smooth talker. It was warm, and the coaches trying to talk over the giant fans and the loud coaches' wives (sorry-not-sorry) sometimes made it hard to hear what people were saying. The space was slightly small. It was asses to elbows in there, but it kept the energy high. I miss doing it at Park Place Lexus, although I know that room was also small, and a caterer had to be brought in. The event inspired me to attend some WBB games this year. Although my wife was not inspired by my inspiration for more UNT sporting events. 😬
  13. Now I need a logoed green shirt with the SOW holding a football.
  14. "Son, Jyaire needed to get paid. He's gone."
  15. Hope he's okay and his family is well... if that is the real story. But my hot take is we might not have had the same outcome as last night if he had been there. He just didn't seem as in as he did earlier in the season.
  16. They clearly are picking him up from the private terminal at McCarran. Look at the mountains in the background . It's disappointing he didn't even fly home with the team. I wish success for him and can't say I wouldn't do the same if offered that money, but TX Tech and Lubbock is an awful place to live and recruit to.
  17. I'm crying. O my god. I love it.
  18. I'm a degenerate horse racing gambler. Oaklawn has a sports book too.
  19. Were posted up in Hot Springs! GMG!!!
  20. Wow. Amazing 🏀!!!
  21. Why do we hate offensive rebounds? Do we feel we're not fast enough to get back down the court against fast break teams?
  22. Damn that was good Basketball. Gotta fix some errors, but like the absolute grind. Also loved hearing the announcers finally realize at the end that OK State was going to lose.
  23. Could have used some of those earlier poorly executed fast breaks right now. 😩
  24. Fun game. Kudos to all the green in the stands! Wish my schedule for today had given me time to join.
  25. GREAT energy today in The Pit!
