  1. And how long is that? Id guess three seasons... But by the third season from now we're back to #hit6 and are all thrilled when we make it to the New Mexico bowl at 3pm on a Wednesday in mid Dec... Then we bonus Morris with a few hundred grand and extend his contract 3 more years. And so begins another 7+ years of a mediocrity loop. Man I'm spiraling 😵‍💫
  2. Ive honestly never seen so many away team fans on the 3rd floor. I assume they called the ticket office and waived some Bay Area cash that the ticket office just couldn't say no to. The ticket office and the scholarship fund always make it very opaque how people get a hold of single game HC tickets who don't have a current HC ticket holder buying it for them. I think a lot of long time HC ticket holders would be royally pissed if they found out how prevalent it actually is.
  3. The amount of rope they are given to hang themselves at the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars a year is something even the most successful of us will never know. Most CEOs or other misc Chief Officers of public companies (similar pay structure, similar public visibility into performance) never get multiple Quarterly releases much less multiple years to perform poorly and still be employee. Add a UNT handicap onto that timeline that gives you additional years to try to figure out it, and there's plenty of folks that have well flush accounts because of UNT.
  4. The truly "big donors" have always treated the Hub Club era of UNT Football as an extension of their wealthy Country Strong Denton/Wise County groups. They stay to eat a buffet dinner at the Hub Club, see the band, and then say "I'll go watch the 2nd half at home." I can't count the amount of times I've heard that from people sitting near me in the HC, if they even make it to their seats. MGSF said the HC was sold out this afternoon. Other than a surprising amount of Cal fans (where do they even get those Tix?), there was maybe 4 additional new people in our Club section. Still 60%+ empty seats. There's a lot of "Oh golly, isn't that just UNT football? See y'all in a few weeks! 👋"
  5. The AD and head coaches laugh all the way to the bank.
  6. TX State will be in the AAC in the next few years. And that's probably bad for UNT.
  7. They love it, people can't stop saying their brand name. It's the best advertising they have.
  8. I'm very supportive of students joining the board. Just remember friend, this is your pile of trash too. So unless you transfer or turn into another T-Shirt fan Walmart Longhorn, this your forever team! Enjoy!
  9. Why do we think we'll beat LA Tech next week?
  10. I concur. The one thing Stone seems to do well is long ball it. Just heave it and let the clock run out.
  11. Why is no one interested in completing a tackle? Wrap those MFers up.
  12. They will be mighty surprised by what the Temps for many of the fall ACC games will be. I hope they don't get Miami or Florida State early in the season. And I love all the caring for the student-athletes on their forum. They care so much they're going to join a conference where their closest out-of-state conference mate will be in Dallas, and their next closest will be 3 time zones away on the east coast. WON'T THEY THINK OF THE KIDS 😩... crocodile tears. 🙄
  13. I was there. The tailgates in the Fouts parking lot were wheels off that day. What a time!
  14. Good on you Doug! Way to support athletics. Don't tell my wife who may divorce me if there's was a summer sport in Denton she'd lose my attention to, but I'd love to see baseball come back. We met one of the old UNT baseball coaches on ticket pickup weekend a few weekends ago. He seemed like a great guy!
  15. Interesting... Not sure I agree with if it's true, but 🤷‍♂️
  16. What did my youthful brothers over at Sigma Nu do to get cast off their normal position on slope of the hill?
  17. Don't they have facilities issues? I think they play football in the old Turner Field. No idea what the deal with their basketball is.
  18. Most SMU people are the hanger-on "my friend is rich" type of people we all have met. They can't wait for you to gas up your boat and invite them to your lake house for the weekend. I've met enough SMU grads over the years to know the majority of them are just middle class people grinding it out like most college graduates. They might be luckier in that someone paid for their college education, if not, they're usually worse off financially than the state school kids who have far more manageable debt loads. As someone who's attempted to hire a few of them out of B-School, they think very highly of themselves and rarely have more skill than a UNT/UT/TAMU/TTech/UH grad. The alumni network thins quickly every mile you get away from the Park Cities. They sell the degree as a lock for getting you into IB jobs, when in reality other than a few local alum heavy firms, Daddy's "boutique" firm in Preston Center, and a family office or two, the degree holds no more (and probably less) water than most prominent TX biz schools.
  19. He appears to be defending it to those asking on X.
  20. The surrounding apartments keep that thing moderately full. The Riders frequently give away tickets to the complexes to give their residents. It keeps butts in seats and helps sell a few hot dogs sold in the blistering summer months. Not sure how sporting venues become "progressive" though. If you mean "stadiums built in denser urban areas with public tax dollars" then I guess I understand what you're getting at. Minor league parks can easily become public funding boondoggles. There's far too many examples of cities funding minor league baseball stadiums and the team shutting down or moving. Maybe they drive surrounding development and hotel and sales tax revenues, but maybe cows can fly too. Frisco would have still been Frisco with or without the investment. That being said, it's one of the best minor league parks you'll ever come across! Thursday nights are $2 beers in the outfield.
