  1. Question. Is our awesome mural hand painted. a vinyl wrap, a combination of several media? Do we know who did it? We want to do a postcard type mural on the side of our building, so any info you have would be greatly appreciated. Game day! GMG! Fly Like An Eagle!
  2. 1970 - Joe Hamilton. "The Pit" was packed for every game. 4,500, 4,700, 5,000. Elbow to elbow and we loved every minute of every game! North Texas was 18-8 (9-5 in the MVC good for 3rd place) that year even with a three-game stretch where 4 of the five starters were injured (lost all three games) and our tallest starter was ineligible to play in the spring semester. The team used speed, a brutal defense which included the “karate press’, and “the worst crowd in the nation” – Coach Maury John, Drake to post their best record in many a year. Joe average 22.3 ppg and two-sport guy, Crest Whitaker averaged 17.3. Mean Green Maniacs? Amateurs! The gauntlet has been tossed. Let's hear your best tomorrow night! GoMeanGreen! See y'all in Houston Saturday when we bbq some Owls!
  3. 1969 - Even at 6'2", Lee Winfield could jump out of the gym and was a terror on the boards. He was a blast to watch. NT was 15-10 and 8-8 in conference that year. Over 5,000 at several games that season. NT averaged 99.8 points per game at home in 68-69 including 120 against Little Rock.
  4. 1968 The Men's Gym aka The Snake Pit. At any game, among the 4,500 - 5,000 packed into "The Pit" you probably would see Joe Greene, Phyllis George, Bill Schmidt, Meatloaf, Tom "Bone Malone, Steve Ramsey, Don Henley, Ron Shanklin, Peter Weller, Cedric Hardman, Glenn Holloway,,,,

  7. I would think so as that's what we offered back in November After a great visit and conversation with @CoachMainordUNT I am honored and excited to receive a PWO from North Texas! @MeanGreenFB @CoachCStringer @BurtJr6 #GMG
  8. And just think, there once was a time when the weightroom and handball court under Fouts were good enough for NT to get Joe Greene, Steve Ramsey, Ronnie Shanklin, Cedric Hardman, Glenn Holloway, Barry Moore, Leo Taylor, James Ivey, Leonard Dunlap, Charles Beatty, Willie Parker....I guess the other schools just had worse facilities. Oh, and bronze medalist, Bill Schmidt, all the way from PA to Denton.
  9. Law or Barry Moore. One can dream. Fly Like An Eagle.
  10. Thank you, Sir! Fly Like An Eagle!

  16. I’m saddened to learn of the passing of Texan and fellow alumnus of North Texas State University (UNT), Michael Lee Aday. September 27, 1947 – January 20, 2022), better known as Meat Loaf. (a name given to him by one of his football coaches). https://nypost.com/2022/01/21/meat-loaf-dead-singer-of-bat-out-of-hell-was-74/
  17. This team needs Bell to do a LOT more than he has so far.
  18. I waited 50 years for that victory!
  19. NO COACH is ever done trying to improve his team no matter what the position and nobody, and that includes the coaches, is guaranteed a starting position for the Mean Green in 2022.
  20. What I know is that we better find a better than average D1 QB or two pretty soon or we're going to be looking back and saying "remember that year we won six games, wasn't it great?" when we join the AAC. If they aren't afraid of your passing game (as we saw again today) they will kick your ass in the running game (also as we saw today).
  21. He gets another year, but he better come up with a QB real quick or it will be his last season at NT.
