  1. 1. This isn't an issue you're really allowed an opinion about from the comfort of your fully-equipped home five hours away (or wherever you live). I've got no running water, a flooded car and haven't had a hot meal in days. 2. Lamar AD is "too busy" to speak with me and give an explanation for trying to navigate through this mess, per media relations. I know how to do my job. 3. Team took at least three coach buses and an equipment truck away from an area that is still evacuating people and still seeing flood waters rise. The basketball arena next door to their stadium is housing hundreds of evacuees. Those buses could be put to better use. Understand this, but team hasn't had a padded practice since last Saturday. No chance the team is game ready (nor should they be).
  2. If you want to find the "most crazy looking detrimental areas" in Southeast Texas right now, all you have to do is walk outside. That bad here.
  3. Just as a quick heads up to everyone not in this Beaumont/Port Arthur area: This is a disaster zone right now. Cities are underwater and people are frantically looking for rescues. Lamar's dorms flooded as well. There are 60 players on Lamar football's roster from Houston/Southeast Texas. Many have/will lose stuff to this flooding. Beyond that, there aren't any safe routes leading out of Beaumont right now. Everything is closed to flooding. The I-10 is an ocean. Team has practiced once since last Friday and clearly isn't in game shape. No reason for this game to be played Saturday except money. I get that but Lamar's AD has stressed player safety as the top priority and if he wants to keep his players safe, he won't make them play this game. Rescheduling could be an option, obviously, but much bigger things to worry about right now.
