  1. I would imagine the Pac 12 tries to keep things together by reaching out to teams like Colorado State, San Diego State, or Boise State. Then once that happens I could see the American Conference trying to come in and pick off a couple more members of the Mountain West. Who would you guys want in our conference?
  2. Just for fun under previous school on the roster they should list UNT.
  3. I don't think people are placing him on any all time lists at this point, but in terms of the current roster he is by far the best and most impactful player as it stands today. Preseason All-American (1 of 2 CUSA players to do so), returning from a 1st team All-CUSA season, leader of the defense, and was immediately contacted and offered by A&M and Ole Miss after entering the portal so I think that shows what other teams feel about his ability.
  4. Gotta be the waiver. He would essentially be taking a huge gamble that it gets approved even if he does have a legitimate family reason.
  5. With the ease of transferring it would appear your own personal definition of a firm commitment is actually not required, correct? A player can sign his "contract" and 6 months later leave and go to another school with no negative consequences all while never breaking any rules. If it was against the terms of the contract how are so many players transferring and not being punished in any way? You may disagree with the currently written rules, but acting like some type of binding contract is being broken when a player transfers is not reality. You don't get to apply your own personal definition of commitment and contract to things when you can clearly see that's not how things work. It's clear we just have differing opinions on this and that's fine, world would be a boring place if everyone agreed all the time. All I ask is that you keep this same mentality when we hire a new coach or bring in a new transfer player, and that goes for everyone else on here who feels the same.
  6. So you're confirming that you have worked the same job your entire life like an adult who stands by their commitment? You made a commitment to take on that job when you were what 15? 18? You're a person who stands by his word and doesn't break any type of commitment so I can respect that you're still working there or maybe you've recently retired. If your username is your graduation year then I am truly impressed, very few people stick with the same job for around 50 years even after graduating from college while working there, so kudos to you. You are absolutely entitled to your opinion, but again I will expect this same type of feedback from you next time we land a transfer from another school or next time the athletic department hires a coach who is currently working at another school. You can compare this to a job, marriage or whatever, but within the college football building there are players, coaches, trainers, administrators, etc. Why are the players the only ones who should be held to your standards?
  7. Did you really just equate marriage or military service to playing college football? If you actually feel those are even remotely close to the same level of commitment then you're just out of touch with reality. The easiest comparison to playing college football is getting a job. I would be impressed if you have worked the same job your entire life, but I'm guessing like nearly every person you have left jobs for better or different opportunities whether that is more pay, better fit, family reasons, location, etc. If you choose to leave your job then sure there are "penalties", you lose your pay and benefits, there is no guarantee you will find another job, etc...sounds kind of like choosing to give up your scholarship right? Regardless, I expect this to be your stance on transfer recruits in the future, they need to grow up and stick with their original school right? And when the time comes to replace Littrell I will expect you to be pissed because we are hiring a coach away from another school and that new coach is breaking his contract to his previous school. You can't be mad about the process when it hurts UNT, but look the other way when it benefits us.
  8. @BillySee58 Any idea when 247 typically updates rankings? We now have 3 commits all with 5+ FBS offers and P5 offers among those, but none have any rating yet.
  9. I agree some restrictions over the timing of free transfers needs to be implemented, but this is just silly and you guys hold 19 year olds to much higher standards than yourself. Your reasoning that athletes need to stay where they decide to go when they are 17/18 years old and nobody else has to is what? The school is offering them a scholarship so they should be forced to stay? Do you think students on academic scholarships should have the same limits? The extremely large majority of student athletes transferring schools is because they aren't getting playing time, many find the grass isn't always greener on the other side but they should have that right to do that if they want. You mentioned professional athletes as a comparison to these students, but forgot to mention the biggest difference..they are getting paid. A scholarship is not payment and never will be. Why should athletic scholarships be viewed any differently than academic or band or anything else? When an athlete transfers they lose their scholarship and it's up to another institution to determine if they are worth another one, just like any other student. And no hardship waivers?? You have to be kidding. I totally agree the waiver program is broken, and more often than not the NCAA passes waivers for transfers to bigger schools regardless of the reason. But to rob a kid who has a dying parent or loved one of the opportunity to be closer to their family is absurd. Everyone here is passionate about UNT I get that, and losing a player like KD at this time of year sucks and those people who tampered with him should be punished. But if he had left 3+ months ago I wouldn't be upset and none of you should be either. Lots of hurt feelings around here simply because we lost a good player, but I didn't see anyone crying about the system when we landed transfers from Georgia, Arkansas, Missouri, Nebraska, LA Tech, North Carolina, Texas Tech, Alabama, the list goes on and on.
  10. Got his work cut out for him this year for sure. With Maclin coming in and looking solid along with our WR room getting and hopefully staying healthy I would imagine his reps will go down quite a bit.
  11. If they make this game anything like how EA Sports has ruined the Madden games it won't be good. They know people will buy the game no matter what so they don't really have incentive to make a good game. Hopes are low, but we'll see what happens.
  12. Agreed, we passed the ball 394 times and gave up 15 sacks so one sack every 26 pass attempts. Just to give some comparison Georgia passed 407 times and gave up 16 sacks so one sack every 25 pass attempts. Too lazy to see how we compare nationally but that seems like a pretty good number to me. I also think the opponent is an important factor since it can be assumed we would give up a lot more sacks to Alabama than Houston Baptist and 8 of our 15 sacks came against UAB, SMU, and Missouri. Again, tough to compare to everyone but only giving up 7 sacks over the course of the other 10 games doesn't seem bad at all.
  13. Got a source for those? I'm assuming you looked at the NCAA numbers below and noticed we are top 10 in sacks allowed. Notice how every team ranked "lower" than us has actually allowed more sacks? Your own personal eye test and belief is one thing, but the main stat you provided proves the opposite of your point. I'm assuming you also looked at the same website for the penalties number you gave, and unless you have a separate stat that solely shows OL penalties I don't think it's fair to lump every team penalty as a criticism of the OL play. I'm not saying the OL is amazing, but the numbers seem to point to a group that is far from a weakness and returning 4 starters is a luxury most teams would love to have. https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/468
  14. The same line that paved the way for a top 5 rushing attack in FBS? Is that the line you're referring to here? We also return 4 starters on that line so I'm feeling pretty good about them.
  15. Wonder how massive of a hit the AAC will take with their TV deal payouts once they turn into CUSA 2.0. Each school currently gets around $6 million, but not only are they losing by far their 3 most popular teams they are going to go from 11 members to 14 members decreasing the average per school even more. Big 12 commissioner speculated that losing OU and Texas would cost the remaining Big 12 teams around $14 million of their $28 million annual TV payout..would have to imagine the AAC would be set to lose about the same percentage if not more. Still should be a nice step up from CUSA money for us though even if we are only getting around $3 million.
  16. Have to wonder if grades are what led to those big time offers drying up coming out of high school. Hope he can get it all pulled together.
  17. Would love to see your seemingly long list of highly rated recruits who have left, here's what I came up with. In the '21 class we have lost 2 (possibly 3 depending on Johnson) of the 10 highest rated commits. One landed at Sam Houston State and the other appears to be at a juco. In the '20 class we have lost 3 of our 10 highest rated commits. One has landed at a juco and two do not appear to be playing anywhere currently. In the '19 class we have lost 4 of the 10 highest rated commits. One was kicked off the team for assault, one is currently not playing anywhere and two have left to go to UCLA. In the '18 class we lost 7 of the top 10 commits. One went to Stephen F. Austin, one went to West Florida, one went to Eastern New Mexico, one went to Kansas, and three do not seem to be playing anywhere. So to recap we have lost 16 of our 40 highest rated recruits over the last four classes. Of those 16, 7 are no longer playing football, 6 transferred down out of Division 1, and only three actually went to another FBS program. Do those really seem like big and significant losses to you?
  18. The Caleb Johnson loss is extremely noteworthy if true. Had one of the most impressive offer lists of any UNT commit ever. He posted this just over a month ago and has been active with other UNT players on twitter so this seems like a very recent development.. @Brett Vito or @BillySee58 any update on Caleb Johnson?
  19. He was suspended from Virginia Tech and seems to have been basically kicked off the team after being there for 3 months, you sure about that? Not only that, anyone entering the portal after May 1 is not immediately eligible and would have to sit out a year unless they are a grad transfer.
  20. At this point in time with the portal I don't think we will be landing many (if any) instant impact players. I'm fine with taking a chance on an FBS transfer as a potential depth piece rather than another random juco player. If he works out great, if he doesn't he's gone next year and we can fill the scholarship hole.
  21. If you were donating to Texas or Ohio State then I could understand the thought process. Once UNT has players signing any 4+ figure NIL deals then maybe we can consider that, but as far as I know we basically have no significant NIL program going on outside of maybe $50-100 to post a tweet or something.
  22. Looking like another solid pick for the team. Massive offer list out of HS and he has 4 years of eligibility left. https://247sports.com/Player/Latrell-Neville-46054704/high-school-216147/
  23. He just went through graduation at Memphis. Will be working on his masters at UNT.
  24. She was named director of recruiting at Ole Miss, which I would imagine is a promotion in every sense so I don't feel like the two are connected.
  25. I really hope you're right. Important to remember that Gunnell just had all spring to beat out the guy in front of him and clearly didn't, so let's not act like we are getting some big star. From October 6, 2019 until today Arizona has won one football game so again I'm just taking this experience with some realistic expectations.
