They’re looking to dump Wilson after season three? Is he on the hot seat?
-
He’s a younger guy and will bring in new energy and excitement into the program. After Kee it’s exactly what the players need.

DRC: C-USA adds to television package with ESPN deal
Salsa_Verde replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
So as I understand it C-USA football will be featured on ESPN, ESPN3, ESPN+, CBS-SportsNetwork, BeIN, Staduim, and Facebook this upcoming season. Obviously the games are going to be on a lot of different platforms but I think the more exposure the better. Plus the quality of production is really important. https://www.underdogdynasty.com/2018/6/7/17438896/conference-usa-releases-2018-television-schedule-cusa-football-new-deal-with-espn -
DRC: C-USA adds to television package with ESPN deal
Salsa_Verde replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I don’t know if this is a generational thing but why are some against streaming? Cable is dead except for sports and even then I stream everything through my phone or tablet and pretty much everyone I know does the same. I obviously don’t know the specifics about the deal but it appears we are sacrificing revenue for exposure on an emerging new media platform? Although the schools are seeing an increase in revenue and lowering production costs? This seems like a great deal IMHO. -GMG- 31 replies

Yes it’s right next to the tennis complex. I got 1,500 from this article https://news.unt.edu/news-releases/unt-officials-break-ground-oct-28-stadium-soccer-track-field I have no clue if they changed the number of seats but I wouldn’t be surprised.
-
From what I’ve read the new complex is capable of holding 1,500 fans, with cover from the sun. Which should increase the number of people willing to attend games. If people are standing that first game it will be a good thing.
-
The ability to host a conference championship for the first time in I don’t know how long has to be great advantage in my opinion.

North Texas will face Oklahoma, Alabama and SMU at the new soccer complex this upcoming season. http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/w-soccer/spec-rel/060618aaa.html

Turf looks good. I was afraid the state outline would make it look too busy but it’s not that noticeable and the SOW looks great!

I never really thought about it but he has an excellent chance to do just that next year. Here’s the article https://swcroundup.com/news/2018/5/30/wednesday-playcard

FAU at North Texas Game Moved up to Thursday
Salsa_Verde replied to UNTFan23's topic in Mean Green Football
Not everyone has a class on Friday and most students treat Thursday as a Friday anyway, so I don’t see a big deal in having a game played at that time. Plus it’s later in the day. I’m excited for it but I guess I’m in the minority. I understand it’s an inconvenience for some but I thought we all wanted national relavancy? -

Does the football team have an all green uniform combination? That might be interesting or is that too much?

Track and Field/ Soccer Complex Video
Salsa_Verde replied to Salsa_Verde's topic in Mean Green Athletics
I’ve never seen a track and field event at North Texas but I’ve been to many soccer games and they draw a decent size crowd every time. The crowd was maybe a hundred people but the stands are small and uncovered facing directly into the sun. The 1,000 seat capacity should be enough in my opinion. Although I would expect to see bigger crowds this upcoming season. -
It all comes down to which conference they would play in. The Big-12 only has OU, WV, Iowa St., Iowa and the University of Denver with gymnastics teams. No way you break into the PAC-12 or SEC. So the only option would be to play in a Div-II conference...which would put North Texas in direct compitetion with TWU...a powerhouse in gymnastics. It’s just not feasible.
-
There is a lot of talent in Texas in women’s gymnastics. Unfortunately no D-1 school sponsers women’s gymnastics in this state. TWU is Div-II. And unfortunately the SEC and PAC-12 are where all the talented gymnast want to go. They have crowds of up to 10K or more and have muliti-million dollar facilities. I just don’t think the squeeze is worth juice.

Cool video on the construction of the new track and field complex. Enjoy! GMG

I think TWU has gymnastics covered

I’m currently in Laramie visiting family that attends the University of Wyoming, I only say that to provide some context on what I’m about to say. First I understand the point you’re trying to make but these are two vastly different programs that I feel should not be compared. First of all...there is nothing out here. Laramie is small and supportive because what else are they going to do? The town lives or dies on the university. The IPF is a must up here, it’s Wyoming! North Texas is in a bigger market and has to compete with big time programs to get attention, Wyoming simply doesn’t have to do that. Everyone will eventually see this for themselves in 2026 I believe. GMG
