I...much like anyone else on the board would like to believe North Texas will move on to greener pastures one day. I just don’t see a path into the AAC...I do see a coalescing of regional SBC and CUSA teams though. I realize I’m not saying anything new.

Since we are dealing with unprecedented circumstances it’s not out of the realm of possibility that exceptions are going to be made at least on a conditional basis, with the intent to bring them back in a certain amount of time. In the end that’s something for the lawyers to figure out.

You guys are jumping the gun. They’ll get rid of the non-revenue sports way before they get rid of football. No school is dropping down with out cutting one of those non-revenue sports, or doing something like noted above. What is going to be the unfortunate outcome of this is the kids that might not play D-1 athletics because they play golf, tennis, etc. if indeed it needs to be done. You’re not getting a paycheck game in any other sport.

The bigger schools should be able to weather the storm. It’s the small liberal arts colleges that will and have been going under way before the pandemic that are in real trouble.

The problem as one poster pointed out and I hope they come up on the net and say so, maybe @GrandGreen....is that there are a bunch of programs that shouldn’t be Div-1 programs. The list: Umass, South Alabama, UL-Monroe, ODU, Georgia St., Texas St., every team in the MAC except Ohio, New Mexico St., Liberty, Coastal Carolina 🥴, I’ll walk myself out.

The title alludes like this is a good thing. To me it’s not and just highlights how small time CUSA is. I haven’t heard any other conference talking about doing this? Has anyone else?

You honestly think there is a grand conspiracy about North Texas moving up? You’ve probably been saying the same thing for 20 years...the IPF is great...it should have been built 10 years ago if not more. As it stands North Texas is not ready to join the AAC without major improvements to the volleyball venue, super pit, athletic center, swim and dive facilities....the list goes on. There is no conspiracy, we need more money to compete and it’s not there.

Baylor is a much better gig than Texas I would think. Why would she do that?

I don’t hold too high of hopes that the next round (if there is any) of realignment will benefit North Texas. Forgive me if I sound like a broken record but the AAC will not take us and my hope of joining the Mountain West is probably a pipe dream. North Texas is stuck in CUSA for the foreseeable future

Absolutely. They want to keep us down at every turn. Playing North Texas in basketball would only cement the perception even more that this is a legitimate rivalry. I’m not going to split hairs on whether or not they’re “scared” to play is but I will agree with you that they and I’ll add TCU will do whatever it takes to keep their pieces of the pie. One has Ft. Worth the other Dallas.
