Ben Baby comments on NIT game cancellation
Salsa_Verde replied to Coach Andy Mac's topic in Mean Green Basketball
It isn’t easy being green -
That’s fair…but back in the day there were only two tournaments to get into….now we’re up to what 3? 4?….the networks want content and they’re slowly turning college basketball into bowl season.
-
The vibe was off the whole game. I think when we had like 3 really bad turnovers at the end of the first half is when I started to think tonight wasn’t our night. We probably had alto play a perfect game to get a win.
-
Ooof. That’s tough. Didn’t know that.
-
Yeah that makes sense. I would say a school’s media rights deal is the #1 driver of revenue but yeah…it’s all interconnected I think. It would be interesting to know what the ADs contract looks like, I would hope there is some incentive for improving attendance.
-
Maybe the elephant in the room is that the AD doesn’t care about attendance because that isn’t a metric he gets evaluated on. Winning percentage or wins across all sports would make sense on why the AD is lackluster on promoting fan attendance. I don’t really know. Just a thought.

I was thinking more in season…but yeah that’s fair.
-
Because he’s thinking logically. I want the Super Pit to be sold out too….but I’m not going to sit here and say we’ve had the kind of success that warrants that. I can’t remember the last time we beat a ranked team…13 out 70 years North Texas has won 20 or more games. Made our first tournament appearance in 1988 at 17-13 (won the conference tournament). Since 2000, winning record 15 out of 24 years. To be a top mid major you have to be better than that. That’s just the reality.
-
Thank you.

People only care about the NCAA tournament. Those are good accomplishments but not great. Beating Memphis consistently, going to the tournament consistently and making a run in it is what draws fans. NIT win and then a deep tournament run would have been better but North Texas didn’t do that. One NCAA tournament win all time?

Men’s golf school. 4 national championships GMG
-
Win the conference tournament at least.
-
True. Wichita St. believes they’re better than North Texas, so to lose, is viewed as a big disappointment. It shouldn’t be but whatever.

Big change from being the offensive coordinator at USC to the offensive coordinator at Abilene Christian

Yeah…this looks bad. Wasted opportunity for some kind of branding.

Mountain West looking to add NIU/Toledo
Salsa_Verde replied to ColoradoEagle's topic in Conference ReAlignment
Funny thing about CFB right now is that almost every school is either looking for a better conference or upset and who they are letting in to the conference. 😂 -

WKU and MTSU would make sense. Way more sense than Northern Illinois traveling to Hawaii to play a football game that would be watched by hundreds of people. -
Okay…say that he is. If he can’t field a competent defense he’s not going to win games or championships or any games that matter, despite your QB throwing for 400+ yards. The defense has been a problem for a long time. It wasted Mason Fines career and it’s going to waste the career of any QB that comes here

That’s how you build school pride. North Texas can’t seem to figure it out.
