  1. I don't disagree. That doesn't change my argument that before we had Littrell we weren't even in competition for titles except for 2013 when we had a stacked defense with NFL talent and Skladany as our DC.
  2. They're all his right now. I also think having such a young offense is why the team has struggled in close games. Our receiving corps is young and seems to lack maturity. My point is it's not like he inherited top tier talent when he came here. He had to find it and he did. He found it quick and made one of the most dramatic turnarounds in program history.
  3. Receivers that couldn't catch balls, for starters, which is a big reason why our receiving corps is mostly underclassmen. He's taken guys over the past two seasons with almost no FBS experience and turned them into solid producers. That's what I'm talking about.
  4. You had me until here. Not saying we won't find a better coach at some point but he's done a fantastic job with what relatively little he's had to work with.
  5. I think the worst part about this process is seeing people and yuppie reporters trash talk Denton.
  6. And most of our graduates know how to correctly spell credible(or at least know how to use spell check).
  7. I agree with that too, but since bowl selection isn't going to do that they should at least get the match ups right with the G5s.
  8. I mean, on paper it's one of the better ones, but I don't think the G5 matchups are that exciting, and I think it's for a lack of trying on the selection peoples' part. UAB is playing Toledo and Appalachian State is playing Middle Tennessee, where in my opinion MTSU should be playing Toledo and UAB should be playing App State. It just seems like they didn't really look too in depth at which team was playing what in the G5 bowls. Again, on paper I understand this bowl game, but a lot of it gets taken out for me when we consider the coaching situation. Generally speaking, teams without coaches haven't fared well in bowl games. See: SMU last year. And if both teams have interim coaches, what can we really expect from the game? But I guess bowl selection can't really take losing coaches into consideration. If Matt Wells was still at USU and we knew for sure we were keeping Seth then I would be extremely excited for this matchup.
  9. True, and that would be an awesome achievement. But 5 days before the early signing period, the outcome of the bowl could impact recruits opinions. Hopefully for the better. In some ways, if we lose Seth and he doesn't coach the bowl game, and we won, it would be a potential positive for recruits that are on the fence after him hypothetically leaving. There are way too many things up in the air for our program right now and it is making me uncomfortable. I really don't want to lose this top of CUSA recruiting class. All that is very true. We'll just have to see what happens. At least we can say that we went to a bowl and SMUt didn't.
  10. I'm not saying I won't watch. I don't necessarily think it's a bad match up. It's more about the perception. If we struggle or lose (with Seth), it won't be a good look for us since they lost their head coach. If we beat up on them then it's because they lost their coach in the eyes of the public. I know they're a good team and they have a good record with good players. It's just hard to see the point, especially without their coach and potentially without ours.
  11. I fail to see how this is such an enticing game. They lost their head coach and we might lose ours. Scenarios: 1) (with SL) We beat a team that lost their head coach, excuse is well they lost their head coach 2) (with SL) We lose to a team that lost their head coach, making us look worse 3) (without SL) two teams teams that lost their head coaches fight it out and the game doesn't really show or prove anything. With the circumstances surrounding the coaching positions, this game does not excite me. If Matt Wells and Seth were both coaching in the game my tune would be dramatically different. I think, with both coaches, it would be one of the best bowls in the country.
  12. After his injury scare though I'm worried about his durability. He's going to give it his all on every play though. I'm not sure he has the durability to be a primary back, but I think he's demonstrated already that he can be a great change of pace or 3DB.
  13. 12/9 Wanted to get this going before I went to bed for you early risers out there. With Breida out, Jeff is STARTING for the 49ers tomorrow against the Bronocs (and Courtland Sutton). Alfred Morris and Matt Dayes are backing him up. Game is on CBS tomorrow at 3:05. Just checked my CBS and it looks like the game won't be aired on mine in DFW, which sucks (I despise how the NFL broadcasts their games), so if you want to watch it, find a buddy with that NFL ticket thing or someone that gets the game or a bar. There are some concerns I do have. Just before the half last week, Jeff hurt his foot. Being a starting back in the NFL is physically tough, especially the way he runs. Just keep his health in your thoughts/prayers/etc tomorrow (and for the rest of the regular season it looks like). He literally pushed around a REALLY tough Seattle defense last weekend. The Broncos defense with Von Miller is no joke. I can't wait to see Jeff in action. Whatever happens, I hope he knows how proud we are of him and how well he has represented the University of North Texas, and I hope he gets to continue living the dream. --------------------- 12/2 Matt Brieda aggrivated his ankle injury and was limited in practice all week and during the game. Jeff's stats are pictured below. He went out just before the half with a leg injury but he must've come back after. I couldn't watch the second half. His stats are below. He had one fumble.
  14. I can make the NOLA drive in 6.5 hours from Dallas. I was happy about the bowl selection last year (even though I couldn't go). For Albuquerque, as others have pointed out, from Dallas, it's either drive 10 hours or fly and pay a boat load because the game is in two weeks. It is what it is. We're going to have to accept that most fans will be watching from their coaches because of the poor geographic placement of this bowl.
  15. It's a sh*** bowl that will probably be played with two interim head coaches and you know it.
  16. If we had gotten Heart of Dallas at least we would have good fan turnout.
  17. I hate to be that guy, but we win 9 f-bomb games and we're only going to the s***** New Mexico Bowl. I'm not driving 10 hours to go to Albuquerque. I can't even be happy about the game because Matt Wells probably won't even be there at Utah State. It'll be even funnier if we lose Seth Littrell and we both have interim coaches. Would be the most pointless bowl ever.
  18. It's time to hold on to our collective butts.
  19. I agree 100%. The longer this drags the worse it is for us if Seth ends up leaving.
  20. What's wrong with Spav? He's a solid offensive mind.
