  1. Once he got behind the defense he was usually gone. He's got some really good physical traits but he has got to work on those hands if he wants a chance in the pros.
  2. That's what the wonder of DVR is for I guess. That is unfortunate timing.
  3. For those interested, the game is at 4pm CT tomorrow on FS1. Featured on the American team are three of our own standouts on defense: E.J. Ejiya, LB Nate Brooks, Corner Kemon Hall, Corner I don't know about y'all, but I'm excited to see three of our players represented. Edit: interesting note, Brent Stockstill, MTSU former QB, is on the opposing team.
  4. https://www.kansas.com/sports/college/big-12/kansas-state/article224647540.html They're not blocking him so that's one less thing we have to worry about next year. I feel bad for UTEP though, that would have been a solid get.
  5. The only reason I'm tracking it is because he could potentially end up at UTEP still, which would be a huge addition for them. And one thing I've noticed over the past couple of years is that QB scrambles have hurt a lot against our defense. As close as the UTEP game was last year, it could get even closer if Delton ends up there next year.
  6. One could only hope. If we continue to win we may be able to move up with whatever realignment is coming.
  7. Right? I guess what happened is they released him to go play at UTEP and then when he changed his mind so did they. I didn't realize players still had to get a release from their former team. That's messed up man.
  8. I don't know how they determine those stats, but would Kyler's scrambling ability factor into these calculations?
  9. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/kansas-state-quarterback-alex-deltons-transfer-to-tcu-hits-a-slow-down/ Potentially gonna get blocked.
  10. You say that, but OU and Bama run hugely different offenses. He's going to have to learn a whole new offense and style of before next August, not to mention he won't have the same quality of linemen at OU as he had at Bama. I get that the kid wants to start at a national title contender but I don't think this will be an easy transition for him.
  11. He will not be enjoying the Franklin Mountains. Instead, he'll be hanging at the Stockyards.
  12. Talk about failing upward.
  13. We got plenty of guys waiting in the wings to prove themselves. With the way our system uses wide receivers, we should be fine.
  14. I went overboard in my negative assessment without addressing the positives he has brought to the team. I was mostly trying to defend my original post. I think we have some solid younger guys (like Shorter) that I think he thought he might either lose his job to or he might split time with. If he tried to declare next year with less playing time, his perceived value would go down if he was splitting time at the Z position. Sometimes I go overboard, and I apologize for that.
  15. Hate all you want. I'll be right when our receiving corps does better next season.
  16. You wanna know what really rubs me the wrong way about this whole thing? No? Well too bad. A quote from the last sentence of his NFL draft announcement: "But remember, while today it is me, we all shall depart." No **** Sherlock. But the point is you left early while others didn't. I truly believe if Mason left for the draft this year, he would have a better chance than Guyton, and his "deficiency" (I don't personally consider QB height under ~5'10" a deficiency for any QB, even in the NFL, but I know NFL GMs do) is probably greater than Guyton's whoopsies arms. And I don't blame a young man for going out and trying to get some green and I never would. I blame him because I truly think the only reason he is doing this is because he thinks there's a real chance of him losing his job next year. With the year he had, it makes no sense to leave for the draft. Hate all you want, but if you compare him to Bussey, Bussey got better in the offseason and was the best receiver on the team last year. You could make an argument that Guyton got worse in the offseason and EVEN WORSE contributed to our offensive stagnation in the second half of games with his drops. I don't want to say that definitively because I would need to go back and rewatch the games to see how much of an impact the drops had at critical moments, but based on memory, his drops hurt us quite a bit.
  17. Nope, not joking. And you're right, I don't know him personally, but you can tell with his performance on the field, or lack there of and his body language, especially his body language after dropping a pass that hits him in the numbers. Physically, he's got a lot of tools, but they are underutilized by the operator. And I would bet money that's why he didn't stay and duke it out at Notre Dame. If he gets drafted, great, it's a win for him and it helps the program. I don't have anything personal against him other than the fact that he had a tendency to drop well placed balls at critical times.
  18. Do you just search this forum for anything that mentions Houston? Do you have a life? Are you real or did some clever individual make a bot?
  19. Bussey got fewer reps at the end of the season because of his hammy. And Guyton had plenty of opportunities for more receptions, but dropped way too many well placed balls. He's not that good and his lack of work ethic will be evident when he gets a UDFA contract somewhere and is never heard from again. Physically he has the tools to be a decent receiver in the NFL (which is what they saw when he was recruited to Notre Dame), but he doesn't have the right attitude. Has he ever been on one of the post game interviews even after he had a good game? With all the young talent we have at receiver and the way the air raid works, we shouldn't see any drop off with him leaving.
  20. Good. I think he was scared of the competition from our younger receivers and knew he wasn't going to be the starter next year.
  21. Let's not diminish Lawrence. He played with grit and toughness for a true freshman. He read the defense like it was a tweet (meaning it was easy) and threw to open targets OR threw his targets open. He was accurate enough. If he puts on 10-20 more pounds of muscle, gets some more zip on the ball, and hones his accuracy even more, he will be a terrifying qb to face in college and once he makes it to the NFL.
  22. I love Seth Littrell as our coach...but I didn't realize we were in the market for Venables after the Dodge era. Seems like a big miss. That being said, Venables was a young unproven coordinator at the time...similar to Littrell when we hired him. I think Seth will have a national championship under his belt at some point as head coach. Unfortunately, that probably won't be here, but The Wren knows quality when he sees it, and I have faith in the man.
  23. You could make the argument that our defense will have the same issue.
  24. Well, Reffett had a dline that could do what he wanted for the most part. With the graduations we have this year and the talent leaving, I am worried our defense could take huge steps back, especially since we're losing guys in all stages of defense with the front, the back, and the middle.
  25. Any publicity is good publicity...right?
