    We don't have enough personnel to play 4-3. Our linebacking group is depleted. It doesn't really matter what we run. Hell, we should just run 3-4 D-line and put safeties and corners in at this point.

    Comparing coaching salaries from the late 2000s to the late 2010s is completely and utterly disingenuous. And just because I joined 3 years ago doesn't mean I haven't been following UNT football to some degree or another for almost 15 years (which I know is still chump change to many of the veterans on this board). We're in the middle of a pandemic, we lost 2/3 of the guys in the middle of our field and then we lost our strong safety on the first defensive play of the game. The defensive display was horrible tonight but I don't know what you were expecting with a new DC, a transitioning defensive system, no spring ball, and limited fall practice. The defense was always going to be a nightmare, even without considering losing our two best linebackers and our starting strong safety. The only thing that really surprised me about the game is that we came out flat on offense for the first half and Tre Siggers didn't get any touches.

    My speculation is they had a contract tracing issue. If they had covid many more players would not be playing because of the contact tracing and quarantine protocols if I'm not mistaken.

    UTSA barely managed to beat out SFA. I think we'll be fine barring any more catastrophic losses to covid, which as I said in the other thread, I doubt the Davis's have covid. It's probably just contact tracing protocols.

    Brammer looked good. Aune looked good minus the INT. Aune should start and not Bean. Addaway should be the starting RB. Why didn't we play Siggers? Lots of wasted downs with Torrey when Siggers can do what Torrey does and more. First half was a ****show but the second half, offensively, was mildly encouraging. I know people want SL's head but who else do you think we could get here? The defensive issues were probably going to be a given with the new staff and limited number of practices. Losing our best linebackers, especially in this hybrid offense defense, is why our defense couldn't stop the run. I doubt the Davis's even have Covid, it's probably just contract trace protocol BS.

    What an awful and pessimistic take (which I know is ironic coming from me). SL could have left us in the dust for the ****hole that is KState for more money and didn't. No idea how this season is going to turn out, but in the offseason I couldn't think of a realistic candidate that would come here and do a better job.

    If anything, given the turbulence of this year, it could have hurt him more than not redshirting. I think he would have been better off transferring for his senior season.
