We missed big time on Kason. I can't believe we didn't give him a fair shot here.

The problem isn't necessarily his arm or his receivers. Yes, that is dangerous, but if we manage to take that away, he can scramble. If you cover down field and then he just runs all over you. It's what happened last year from what I remember. And one thing Bennett's defense is usually not good against is the QB scramble.

IMO, it is going to come down to our secondary. Despite the way people on this forum were talking about Hardison, he is a very talented QB with at least a couple really good receivers. Despite our issues at corner, our safeties and tight zone play locked down the passing game (mostly because UTEP usually only used 2 or 3 receiver sets, but still). It will be a much bigger challenge this weekend, especially considering QB run play, but if the D can stifle the backfield even half as good as we did against UTEP, we might slow them down enough to out score them. That's if Aune and the offense can get it done, because I don't think the SMU defense will let us run much.

"Shines" is a bit optimistic. But he did make some good throws in tight windows, something I lamented on last year that he should have been able to do given his baseball background. That first half was a struggle though. I think the bigger story should be that the team is finally incorporating TEs back into their passing progressions and our running backs are absolute beasts.

In game reps are in game reps, especially considering the height difference between Gunnell and Aune.

I mean obviously, but might be nice to get him some garbage time reps handing off the ball.

PB has always been good at adjusting at the half.

Alright, I've been down on Aune but that was a helluva fastball.

Maclin living up to the hype.

He's a better QB than Aune, both throwing and mentally, but he just doesn't have the supporting cast. Amazing what having healthy receivers does.
